"the bread baking genre" this is a VERY Ariel sentiment
Ariel trying those glasses is like Harry Potter trying wands
hahahahahaha this is my favourite comment
Ariel Bissett omgggg 🤩
my FAVORITE thing is buying used books and finding little notes in them... i hope shannon loved that bread book before passing it on
virginia someday i found a little note in a used book where i live (which is poland) and it said: wherever you are now, you are about to go on adventure. i love you and this is my favourite book. -margot
@@zule3931 I really hope you did go on an adventure! That feels like a prophecy 😍
One time I borrowed a library book and inside was a receipt from the bakery next to my grandfather's apartment. My grandfather doesn't live in the same country as me.
@@zule3931 i have to know what book it was!
I really dislike owning books I haven’t read as my excitement fades after I buy them, so I tend to only buy books I want to read now. I really want to buy and read “this is how you lose the time war” right now
Oh that's true for me too. If a tbr books stands on my shelf for too long, i become less excited about it and i always just choose smth new that i am def prioritising now and never get around to that old book which i just end up giving away to a library
omg i tried reading that book and it was rly confusing just not for me but i hope you enjoy it!
Same. But I have no restraint and buy more than I read lol
I feel like before watching booktube I only bought books that I were interested in reading right now but now I just mass buy them and never read them lol :(
@@FeyzaOnay i kinda have the same, booktube hypes a lot of books up and then i wanna read it too. but like i got the illuminea files trilogy and i'm still at the first book and i started like a year ago with reading it.
Ooo I didn’t know there were different fonts to help dyslexics read! That’s so cool
Jay G technology is a beautiful thing 💕
Verdana is on of the easiest fonts to read in my experience.
Forgive my ignorance, since I’m not dyslexic, how do different fonts help? Is it just easier to recognise certain letters in a certain font?
Just curious.
@@someonerandom8552 basically, yeah. Each letter is specifically designed to look very different from one another so that it's easier for someone with dyslexia to distinguish them.
katelyn Oh, that makes sense. Thanks for the info =)
"I gravitate. Like a call to action."
I've never felt so understood ❤🙏🏼
I think you should get the Lilac pair 💜 & my TBR I'm MOST excited for is The Handmaid's Tale.
The Purple ones!!!!! They're so Ariel and they also look whimsical ❤ ❤
I’m persian and I really love that people are reading “Persepolis” ! Just wanted to say that it’s actually pronounced like: “pers-polis” 😂 but the way u say it ‘s pretty cute too!!🖤🖤
Ghazal Moenie I was just about to comment this 😂
Ghazal Moenie loved that book. Read it years ago 👍
اواااااا ایرانی پیدا کردمممم😂💛
I read part 1 of the book years ago and it was a blast
Fatemeh Yousofzadeh salam😍😂
The purple clear glasses look so good on you!
Tily Mckenna I love them so much... I don’t know how to pick!!!
I'm from Iran so when you picked up Persepolis I literally screamed at my phone. I think it's a FANTASTIC book and knowing you (thanks to the digital age we're living in!) you're gonna love it!
No pressure though😂
Just ordered it!
I love the purple glasses and the clear and brown ones. 😍
I agree!
Last year I (unintentionally) read several of books that had been on my TBR the longest (would read one, next one I read was the 'new' oldest one). Cinder by Marissa Meyer and the Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater were among them, and shock(!) Both of them ignited the same sort of energy that The Hunger Games did when I read it back in 2013. (Those two had been on my TBR since 2015 btw so I was quite glad to get around to them FINALLY 😂)
I recently read Cinder, and was honestly shocked by how much I enjoyed it, and of course I burned through the Raven Boys cycle. Maggie Stiefvater is a fantastic writer.
You are such a beautiful soul Ariel, I’m so glad to have found your channel :) I’ve been plagued with guilt for buying dozens of books during the lockdown (& for having a ridiculously long TBR) and it’s so good to have you affirm the importance of having control over one’s reading, to not let others decide your choices. More power to you girl, keep shining🙌🏼✨
READ THE SECRET HISTORY!!! It's so enthralling and twisty and the characters are so grey-area and interesting! I literally stayed up all night finishing it.
As someone from Newfoundland, it warms my cold, dead heart to see people talk about it! We often get forgotten about because of how removed we are from mainland Canada but I love that you enjoyed it here! I've heard The Innocents is wonderful
I really loved Persepolis, it's one of my all time favorite graphic novel! Amazing story and beautiful illustrations. And I own it in the two parts :)
The spam call has me rolling. 😂 I keep getting them too. My poor, lost social security number.
I love the lilac/lavender glasses, they look at home on your face haha
I finished the secret history almost a week ago and I haven't been able to read anything since. Its like nothing feels right and I really just want to go back into that book
Same
I love how some of your videos can be listened to, kinda like a podcast! I do watch, but I can glance away and remain listening while folding laundry or doing dishes etc... thanks for keeping me company with cool book content Ariel!
😊❤👍
Ariel has a podcast too! I highly recommend it. It's called Books Unbound and it's hosted by Ariel and her friend Rayleen Lemay :))
I also enjoy having a lot of books in my home. 🥰 there's such joy in knowing there are so many stories around you, ones that you love and ones that are waiting to be read.
The pink (first ones) and the lilac ones suit you so well!
Thank you...I feel a little more relaxed about my high number tbr pile. The world of books and their writers just fascinates me! And whether books are new, used or borrowed, I find them a comforting discovery.
i love hearing you talk about the thing you love! you can just tell when someone is passionate about something:) love u mucho ariel
I loved The Complete Persepolis 💙 It’s so real and powerful. I hope you get to enjoy this meaningful story 😊
Yessss! I went with clear frames a few months ago and I’m obsessed. I loved the first and last pair! The pink and brown looks great with your hair. 😊
"I had to prioritize books over hard times"
i love my ereader for traveling and when i need a library book quickly but don’t have time to go to the library 😊
When I was younger and I first started actually buying books, instead of just borrowing them, my family would go away a lot on weekends so I would always take with me a couple of books that I had started but hadn’t finished, a system I “created” as a way of forcing myself to have completed books. Now though, that’s gone completely out the window as over the years I was buying books on the regular, things have slowed back down now that I’m older
Also your videos are weirdly calming? Lol
Ooo, the purple or the clear and brown are probably my favs!
I like the purple glasses. I want to read "Honey and Milk" from Rupi Kaur. Persopolis is great and not that hard. Love your channel! 💜👍
clear ones with brown edges. my pick for your glasses.
I love the pink tinted ones! Also I love your energy towards books so much
“Hold on...ow...!” is such a chronic pain mood
hard relate
It’s so fun to see your answers for this tag because I did my own take a little over a year ago and it’s interesting to compare answers - especially since my answers have probably changed by now!
I missed your shelves! So glad to see them again! 😂❤️
Ohh I really love the purple ones! Really cool. A book on my TBR that I'm really excited about is Radio Silence, wanna read it soon! But also Sheets. This one's actually already next to my bed, ready to be read because I sooo want to read a graphic novel
Persepolis is amazing and actually not that hard to read, she has little bits of humour that will make you fall in love with her story ;)
And I loved the purple/lavender glasses :D
I love the violet glasses but Im biased because I have always loved the colour purple. On the other hand they all suit you very well!!
Keira's my favourite actress too! Loved the Colette movie.
Also, I think the completely clear Muse x Duff glasses were my favourite.
That first pink/clear pair are so pretty!
I just bought The Innocents too and the cover is definitely what made it jump off the shelf at me at the used book store! The story and setting also sound amazing 🤗
The fully clear and the lavender were my favorites!
I loved the first one you tried on, the pink! I felt like you had them forever, you looked gorgeous! 🌹🌿
I love the purple glasses on you and your original ones tou had in the special case.
I always enjoy your tag videos! I get drawn to books by covers too but usually if the synopsis doesn’t intrigue me I won’t pick it up. I thought that the purples ones were really cute and I can see what you mean by the difference between the black and brown frames. I like the brown ones more than the black.
Lavender and lilac is my favorite color too. In fact my current glasses are purple too! The purple is my favorite on you!
The purple glasses look amazing on you!! Thank you for your videos and podcast 🤗❤️
i looove the purple glasses! but honestly all of them look great
This video is just perfect timing! Living in America as a junior in high school these past couple weeks I haven’t picked up a single book or posted a single picture on my bookstagram because I’ve been studying for the ACTs. Tomorrow I finally take this “future-altering” test and this video is the best thing that could calm my nerves!☺️
I just recently got clear pink glasses. I love them.
Books that have recently been added to my TBR: everything in the Disney Twisted Tales collection. 😊
I stumbled upon your channel a few days ago and you might honestly be the most interesting booktuber i've seen so far! I love that your videos and your reading taste is kinda unique because it introduces so many awesome books to the community!!
I never used to think much about TBRs but being on Booktube has changed that. Now, I have an ever-growing list of books I want to get to. And I love it!
I love Persepolis. I promise it's not all stress, it has some humor and everything in it.
I definitely don't get the "A book on your TBR that you never plan on reading" question, either. It's not really on your TBR if you don't plan on reading it, I think.
My mom left Iran during the revolution, too, and so many of the events of Persepolis are so close to the types of things she’s talked about.
The pink or purple ones! And I have also put A Secret History on my short listed tbr pile. Looking forward to reading that soon :3
Most of my TBR is kept either at the library or I read ebooks/audios, the main time I buy books is either TBR I am given as gifts or books I have read, loved, and want my own copy of. Of course this is partially because I am a college student who has never had a real job before, once I do have one I might splurge on books more often (dominantly used ones). My personal collection of books is less than 200 but our family (mainly dad’s) collection is over 5000 lol.
The purple ones they blend well with you.
I vote for the Muse X HD. I think the clear with the light brown works well with your coloring. And you seemed very excited about them. The pink is a second for me. As far as books I am currently excited to read, probably next up will be Dear Mrs. Bird. It feels fitting for the time and what I need...humor in a dark time.
lilac and brown ones are very pretty!
Loved the purple ones best! And the classic clear/black ones
I love the distinction between a cover buy and a cover motivated buy - I've never heard it explained that way, and I love it!
You are literally so precious we must protecc you at all costs🥺💓💓💓💓
Omgg I remember the previous glasses video where you replaced the clear framed ones. I always liked those clear framed glasses on you, glad you do too!
Ariel, The Secret History is my favourite book. We have very similar taste. No pressure but you will love it.
“To B R” what a precious human being you are!
i LOVE the lilac glasses!!
Omg go for Persepolis like right now, seriously It's amazing, you won't regret it. This became my fave graphic novel. I didnt find it stressful, It's quite funny but also sad. I read Maus and found it more stressful than Persepolis (waayy more).
the purple glasses are absolutely gorgeous. i wish i could get them where i live!
I just have to say, even though our taste in books don’t really line up I love watching your videos! Your videos always make me laugh and feel good when I watch them 😊 I love your personality!
The lavender glasses and the ones with brown arms, both looked amazing on you 💜
I have yet to read Persepolis, but the movie wasn’t stressful at all. In fact it was one of those stories that was super whimsical, yet simultaneously portrayed things so matter-of-factly in a way that made the themes even more impactful because it was enjoyable.
I feel like I have a weird system for choosing from my TBR pile, but it works for me: I have a physical stack/shelf and whenever it’s time to choose a new book I ask Siri to for a random number and I count along my shelf and that’s the book I read next. I have so many books I want to read and I have such a hard time choosing that I needed to be able to *not* choose and I couldn’t be bothered to make a TBR jar. So random number generator it is! 😂
I’m really loving the first ones....like A LOT.
Soooo, thanks to quarantine, I'm on a reading-roll. I'm about to start my ninth book since March and I completely forgot how much I thoroughly enjoy reading. Perhaps being a 31 year old caught up in life made me forget this. I'm so happy I found your channel! It's what I need right now.
The purple glasses were my favourite!!
The sunglasses look so frikin cool and the glasses with the brown on the sides is clearly your fave so ofc get those 😅
I LOVE THE PURPLE GLASSES AND THE BROWN ONES !!
i liked the pink ones or clear w/ the brown arms the best! definitely think the toned down arms works better than the stark black x
I organize my books by genre, then sub-categorize by author. Having a physical pile or dedicated shelf would make me too stressed, or needlessly guilty about the books I own but haven't read. What I read is so dependent on my mood, and honestly even the weather sometimes, ie. wanting to read Crime and Punishment while it's snowy. My next read is always random, and I like that freedom.
All of your new glasses look so amazing on you!!
I like the clear and brown ones! And I've been DYING to read Sheets ever since you mentioned it in the podcast but school is crazy and I haven't gotten around to it yet
All of the glasses are beautiful and suit you sooo well! The sunglasses though! 😍😎 Absolutely great!
I loved the purple ones on you!! 💜
Recently just watched your book recommendations video and "Ready Player One" is now #1 on my tbr list. I didn't get to finish the movie a couple of months ago and now I have something to push me to get on it. SUPER excited
There is no specific book I'm really excited to read right now, but a specific author. I recently read Bluets by Maggie Nelson and...wow. So right now I just want to read everything she's ever written. She writes these essay-type books, but it's so beautifully written and poetic and raw..I read like two pages of Bluets and I fell in love. I think you would like her books too! Bluets is a short book, devided up into short numbered paragraphs, all about the color Blue, but also much more than that. It's incredible.
Great video! I’m currently reading Sourdough & really liking it!
I've been a viewer of yours forever! I normally never comment or interact with youtubers but I'm a Newfoundlander and I've never read that book before! Picking that up soon! So glad you said you missed it here! Newfoundland misses you too!
I have abandoned goodreads completely. I keep a short list of tbr on a google doc along with my previously read books and a star rating. Wheneve i want to read a new book, i go down that list and see what i can request/borrow right away from the library on my kindle. I also usually have a couple of longer holds that im waiting on and will read when they pop up. It helps me to stay committed to one book at a time since i have a time limit.
I feel like the lilac glasses suit you so much! I love them all though
That's crazy, I just borrowed A Secret History from my library on my Kindle, I'm about to start reading it today. And I love the transparent glasses with brown ear bits the best.
Persepolis is so great
Oh my god! I just read persepolis yesterday, really liked it
I just picked up Persepolis the other day 😊 excited to read it. I think my most anticipated on my tbr pile is A Ladder to the Sky by John Boyne
I have one teeny tiny shelf, to put my tbr on. So if this is full i first have to read these to get space again. And goodreads of course.
the last glasses are my favourites :)
Keira Knightley is the absolute best!
lovely video as always 💕
Thank you for making me realize that it is okay to have unread book. Also, I love how honest you are, keep the good work!
I love the purple glasses on you!
You’re definitely so funny! And just your videos are fun and cute!! But my favorite glasses were the lavender ones!!! All the glasses fit your face well, but I liked the subtle lavender the most.
Ariel, you are a fascinating person! I'm a new subscriber and I just wanted to tell you you make me smile.
