Ariel: I am chaotic!
Ariel 5 mins later: I don't understand when people eat while they read, that seems so chaotic
😂😂😂
Chaos isn't the same for everyone, it's personalized 😆
Right there are levels to this
It's easy to do if you have an e-reader
me: *just finished eating while reading*
i like to read out loud, but i find that when i do i eventually realize that i’ve turned my brain off halfway through and all i’m doing is saying words and not processing any of them
same though i don't read out loud lol
lol i do the same thing(read out loud) and i need to reread everything again
I’m the opposite. I have to read out loud or I won’t process anything. My mind will get distracted and I won’t process anything that I just read
I cant even read outloud, I am very bad at it (idk probably some kind of dyslexia) and it also makes me shut off and not understand a word😂😶
@@nikoletak I'm the same way, I read a lot slower out loud and have trouble saying words, and I never comprehend anything i just said
Dog-earring your own books is fine, but as a public library employee, I think there is a special place in hell for those of you who dog-ear library books. Please remember that library materials DO NOT BELONG TO YOU -- they are public property to be shared by all and should be treated respectfully. I've seen too many books have to be sent to mending or weeded out of the collection (and often, never replaced due to budget issues or being out-of-print) because of torn or damaged pages that disrupt another patron's reading experience. You're potentially denying access to someone who might have need of that item. On top of that, undoing all of your dog-ears ends up costing us valuable time that could be spent on other more vital tasks.
It's not hard to find a post-it or scrap of paper. But if you absolutely must mark your place in this way, buy your own copy. And please, no food items as bookmarks -- empty snack wrappers and uncooked pasta noodles don't belong in library books. 🤦
This is so relatable. I work at a library too, I reshelve all the books. I always check the inside before I put the book back and one time there was a smushed up cookie in between the pages 😂 Like what?
People are so disrespectful and not conscientious of anything outside of their own bubble. Books are precious and should only be pencil marked if owned by you. I can’t even mark my books with a pen because it will pain me to mark a book if it can’t be erased.
I've read library books before where someone had wiped boogers in it and another one where it was highlighted
Uncooked pasta noodles??? 😂 I would have never thought to use pasta. Hahaha
@@Carolll9 Patrons marking up books is another thing that I see too frequently, though thankfully most of them use pencil. Recently, I had a patron bring a book up to the circulation desk that had been heavily annotated by a previous reader. They clearly took issue with the author's opinions and had quite a lot to say about it. 😂
i do this weird thing where i reread sentences or passages that i like again and again before continuing reading. sometimes i don't even finish what i'm reading before rereading it :D i don't know why :D
Kaffeyyyyy I do that, too! It kinda irritates me because it’s time consuming but I feel like I can’t help it. Lol
Same here
I used to do that as apart of OCD. If you enjoy doing it and you're just really appreciating the story, then it's probably fine. But if you feel like you need to do it, even when you don't want to (it might feel like an itch you just need to scratch or something you have no control over whatsoever), you might want to keep an eye on that or really try to force yourself to stop
@@isabelflint3632 yeah same for ASD with me too. I have too do it because I get bad palpitations and I get highly anxious that I have missed some of the words. Sometimes I have to flick back a couple of pages. It's horrible! And I don't know how to stop it, doesn't help that I find recall hard, so processing the story can be difficult.
Wish their was something good as I enjoy reading and the books I like (Stephen king) are usually chunky books with alot of description - wish I could have better imagery in my head too.
@@jimmyrimmer9676 I have the same problem. Listening to audiobooks help in this case but I have to actively resist the urge to keep rewinding for 10-20 seconds And also I like physical books a lot but audiobooks are great too :)
Usually, I read two books at the same time, but they have to be different types of books (nonfiction and fiction, or a classic and a YA).
Same I can't read the same type of genre all at once so sometimes I would read thriller , romance, and then historical fiction so I can get some unique scenery
Same! Or like one has to be an audio book, an ebook and an irl book 😂
@@kailyncorey8267 I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE WHO DOES THIS OH MAH GAH.
STOP THIS MADNESS
Welp I’m in the middle of about seven books rn...
I totally do the reading ahead thing especially if there's dialogue! I don't even WANT to most of the time but the temptation is too strong haha
I would love to see a video on how you annotate your books!
I used to work at a library and the weirdest thing one of my coworkers found as a bookmark was a raw piece of bacon. I usually use whatever scrap of paper I find lying around unless I start a book with a bookmark. I have also placed a book upsidedown while open to save my page so you're not the only one!
That's very odd but I laughed
Sounds like that "bookmark" was really just a prank. Gross.
this is one of those ‘urban legends’ you hear in every library. I expect it happened once but any further times....it’s a prank from someone who has also heard of ‘the legend’
Omg I can’t- some people and their bookmarks 😂😂 so not only would the book smell of bacon, it would also taste of it 🤦🏻♀️
When I lived in countryside Japan, my trains were brutal (lots of sitting around for cars to be connected/disconnected, transfers, blahblah) so if I wanted to go literally anywhere (like I didn't even have a grocery store in my village...I had to leave a lot) I had to endure 30 minutes MINIMUM on the train.
I'm actually grateful for that because I got so bored of just scrolling on my phone that I rediscovered my childhood love of books. It got me back into reading and now I read anywhere and everywhere.
I'm back in good ol' British Columbia now so I listen to audiobooks whenever I drive (or in the shower, or cooking, etc) and drag a physical book with me everywhere but all my Canadian friends are like ".....since when do you read so much??". It just took extreme train boredom to get me there.
I now read constantly, have a tin of bookmarks, watch a lot of Booktube, etc, etc.
THANKS awful countryside trains!! :D
Also thanks to Ariel for getting me into annotating my books. I still only do it with my non-fiction reads, but it makes it easy for me to go dig up interesting facts or quotes I want to share with people and it really does feel like they are specifically my version of that book.
omg i started reading this comment and then got to "British Columbia" and gasped - I'm from Richmond, BC so yayyyy lil mini BC club here in the comments haha
@@MuhanRouge I know! It's always so exciting haha
Koru Scott I lived in big city in Germany for a year and had to commute across my city daily for work at a school, 1 hour and a half there and 1 hour and a half home, about 2 buses and 1 train, everyday.
I did A LOT of reading then! Just during my commutes :)
I also carry a book with me everywhere I go ;)
@WrinkleinTime42
I had a similar experience. For high school I had to work downtown, it took 1.5 hours one way, and 2 buses and one subway train ride. When I worked for 3 years it was 1 hour on the bus there and another hour back. If only I knew how to drive lol but the bus is a pretty calming place sometimes and a good chance to read (though I always get anxious I'll miss my stop -.- so I don't read on it often).
Things I use as bookmarks: postcards, old grocery lists, post-its, receipts, scraps of paper. Pencils, if it's for the rare book I write it. And once in a while, a real bookmark. :P
Pretty much anything of everything can be used as a book Mark at this point
I use everything but book marks. I don't think I even own one of those.
One time I was showing this person a book I was reading and gave it to her to look at. She then proceeds to lay the book down open and break it intentionally while still talking to me. It was the most horrifying and weird situation I've ever experienced book-wise
Elin Isaksson NO!
Elin Isaksson I’m cringing so hard
Sounds like a serial killer lmao looking at you and breaking YOUR books spine. The audacity. I would have been so upset.
Makes me feel sick. Not that I haven't ever broke a spine. But that's like someone blowing out your birthday candles or intentionally messing/christening your new white trainers. 😥
Ahhhh it's like seeing someone walking their dog in the park and asking to pet it and then just unhooking it's leash without asking. Like WHAT
I buy bookmarks when I travel, most often from an Art museum and whenever I look at the bookmark it reminds me of that particular trip. It’s a nice reminder. I also use postcards or promo flyer from a store/brand/gallery with cool graphic/artwork as a bookmark as well.
Even if ur books ARE studied hundreds of years from now, I think the wear and writing would make those books more interesting! I had the opportunity to look at medical books from the 1300s and there was a hastily written collection of medical texts written and bound by a medical student with a bunch of notes in the margins. It was certainly the most interesting text I saw, even though it was written in with poor binding.
I used to treat my books so carefully when I was 10-13 yo, nowdays I annotate, dog ear them if I have to, I use markers and break the spine 😂 it makes it so much more personal, and the copie unique
I did the same when I was 10-13, now when I am 15 I do as you do, dog earing, broken spines are normal thing for my books 😂 but I like this reading style, I think my books are happy too, they are so free haha
Off with you head! lol I love when I get a book from second hand store and there is notes or highlights it gives me a connection to the previous owner and what parts resonated with them. Yeah, love it.
@@philomath9264 yeah, I love that too 😊
@@philomath9264 right??? I love that! I try to guess what the person was thinking when she highlighted the specific parts
Yes I do that as well except for dogging the pages i still can't do that
“your books are YOUR book, they’re not just objects” YESSS THANK YOU
Ariel: "Eating while reading is chaotic to me"
Ariel: *is extremely chaotic the entire video*
Definitely yes to the annotating video, I would be very interested! Also, I read almost exclusively on the bus I take so I kind of have to listen to music while reading to drown out the sounds of other people (because that does bother me). Sometimes I get distracted by the music, but that's fine by me. Mostly I don't even really hear it because I'm more focused on the book.
And about the bookmarks, I don't really use them. It's mainly dog-earing for me. If I have the receipt, I'll use that. Otherwise, my hand or my phone will do a good enough job too, for a time.
I use music to drown out noise too, but if it becomes too distracting I put on a rain sounds playlist so it feels like a nice rainy read in day.
Her annotating video is linked in the description!
i genuinely love how your voice occasionally gets muffled when you turn around to look at the bookshelves, it makes the video really feel like a friendly chat, almost like i'm there!
i used to use random pieces of paper as bookmarks, but nowadays i use those bookmarks that i keep getting from book shops - i mean, i have them anyway, so why not. sometimes they get "eaten" by a book and then i happen across that bookmark again when leafing through the book months later, or when i reread it
I break spines too. I love the look, it reminds me of all the good times I had while reading that book. It makes it look like a loved book and books are there to be loved!! Love your videos xoxo
Hollyquin I actually break the spines on purpose.
When you said “sometimes I try to remember the page number” I lost my damn mind 🤯
When she said that I was like "damn I wish I had a memory that good" 🤣
I’ve done this my whole life. It works 80% of the time
Thank you for this video ! I’m french and I’ve been crying all day long and having panic attacks because of the situation in France, and being able to watch a totally unrelated video about books was exactly what I needed 💕
I need more videos from you as I self-isolate 😆
Haha samee 😂😂
"I don't go out that often."
I've never felt more seen.
I love breaking the spine. I love my books to look read and enjoyed
“I should probably go out more often” she says in early March 2020 😭 we were all so young and naive back then 😂
I just love how you read very similar to how I read??? I just fell SEEN. The chaotic way to mark the pages, reading five books at once, skipping and going back. I just watched the whole video like YES THANK GOD
also: I'd love the notes on books video!
I dog ear all the time. It's is so helpful and if it unfolds the crease is still there so I know I ended there. Only bad thing about it is if it is a book read by a lot of other people. Too much creases or dog ears haha!
I didn't realize I was a monster lmao always dog ear the pages, I stop reading even in the middle of a sentence and I usually eat and drink while reading (yes, many of my book probably have bread crumbs between the pages BUT I love bread so I don't have any other option really)
the first 3 comments: “nice” “super” “very beautiful” lol. couldn’t agree more.
Yes show us how you annotate your books!
I love the breaking the spine because it makes it look used and loved and appreciated. Also I used bookmarks as bookmarks because I have heaps of the free book depository ones that sit in a class on my shelf.
When she said:
We only get this one life, we need to brake the spine
I felt that😂
I had my friend read my favorite book, Granny Dan, which is a book about a ballerina in the 1900s and she read the entire book with a piano soundtrack playing softly in the background from start to end. She said now that anytime she hears a piano being played she thinks of the book which I thought was kind of cool. I can never seem to read while music is playing though
I think it’s really important that you did this tag. Being a bookstagrammer I often feel bad when I write, dog ear, or break the spine of my books. Thanks for making me not feel alone in my bookish habits.😉 (also I would love to see an annotation video)
Books.and.insomnia 🥰
I would love to see a video about how you annotate your books! I’m thinking about starting to do that to but I can’t decide how to go about it, guess I haven’t gotten over the fear of writing in my books yet
When a spine gets broken on it’s own I don’t care. But if it gets purposely broken it makes me angry because it could have still been nice for longer.
One time my friend asked what I was reading so I gave her my BRAND NEW book to show her and she broke the spine and gave it back. I have never forgiven her. It just makes me angry.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
The beginning of this video reminded me of “Hollywoo Stars and Celebrities: What Do They Know? Do They Know Things?? Let's Find Out!”
I’m with you, anything can be a bookmark - receipts, paint colour samples, tags, the dust jacket flap, whatever 😅
I use those little magnetic bookmarks. They have a point at the end so I can point it right at the spot I left off at. Never again will I have to search for my spot or have the bookmark fall out completely!
not sure if I'm impressed or disturbed by this chaotic energy ^^'
my take on some of the questions: I can only read 2 books max at the same time or I start to get anxious. sometimes it's 3 but only when I desperately wanna read a book and then start and finish the third book before I pick up the other 2 again.
On tv while reading: It depends on the book, if it's a light read I watch shows or movies while reading. I sometimes even have the kindle app on one half of my laptop screen and a streaming site on the other half and then watch and read parallel on my laptop
I prefer an actual bookmark when read. However, for some reason, I never have bookmarks on hand so I just use a sticky note. If I have no sticky notes then I just use whatever I can find.
Your video on annotating was so inspiring to me that i haven't stopped writing in my books since. I went from not wanting to break the spine to wanting to make every book my own.
Whenever I read a book with a movie adaptation I always play the movie sound track while reading the book.
This is brilliant! Thank you for the idea. Can't wait to try it
Things I use as bookmarks: receipts, notes, grocery lists, store tags, paper clips, tissues (that are clean haha), and sometimes an actual book mark! Basically whatever is closest to me. I’d love to see how you annotate your books 👍🏻
I use whatever's nearby as a bookmark. But I never dogear.
Even though we don't necessarily read the same types of books, we are the same type of reader!! Almost everything you said I agree with!! It's refreshing to find someone who reads like we do! ❤️
I listen to ambient noises while reading its less distracting than music and more immersive.
My books r wellloved meaning I dog ear annotate and....break the spine
I can't write in books or bend the spine I still love my books but a lot of work has gone into producing them. Why ruin them , it's not respectful. I don't lend my books out for this reason as I don't know what state they will be I. When I get them back.
Rachel Demain i feel ya haha same
@ceser felix lol im honored
I've never felt so seen hearing you talk about how anxious/stressed reading can make you. I literally have put books down because I was so anxious about the ending (looking at you Allegiant which I'm glad I never picked back up). The dialogue when you skip forward to see that good resolution? Beautiful.
I pretty much need dead quiet when I’m reading! As a musician myself, I cannot tune out music whether or not it has words, lol.
I love this Tag
I always use a Book Mark - I have collected them throughout my Reading Life. I never ever dog ear a page. It will eventually ruin the corners of the pages and it may tear the corners of the pages.
I never Mark in my book or write in them. I like to keep my Books Nice and Clean and Neat.
I mostly read in my Living Room and I do spend a lot of time in my Bedroom as well reading. It all depends on how my Day is going or if I just want to hibernate for the day in my bedroom and just read.
I mostly read Paperback Books and my Kindle Books. Hard Back Books is hard on my weak wrists and hands.
Happy Reading ❤️🔰❤️
This is so strange I relate to so many things, first of all the absolute chaotic “bookmarking” aka just sort of guessing where I was then checking what I’ve read, also the several books but completely randomly, and also the stress of not knowing what will happen!!! If I think someone’s about to die I have to skim a bit ahead or I will be literally sweating through the whole passage with anticipation
i'd like to see a video about annotating books! i never annotate or even underline (i guess my head is empty when i read haha) so i would be interested to see a different way of reading. also ariel you're way ahead of the rest of us on not going out, queen of social distancing
I love getting unique, beautiful bookmarks. One is olive green with an ornate elephant on it and some Indian art, the other is a set of horror-themed magnetic bookmarks. Having a tea on the side-table while I read propped up on the couch is such a cozy atmosphere it gets me excited to read. Also, I was listening to a recent episode of Books Unbound and was interested on your comments about Donal Ryan. Since you started talking about 'All We Shall Know' a few years ago I've been wanting to read it, but never have been able to find a copy, though one independent bookstore carries his works.
In Quarantine due to the virus?
No problem,Ariel has got you covered!
Quality content,free of charge.
But seriously though, you are keeping me from losing my sanity, and I appreciate it :)
i honestly just stumbled into this video and ended up watching a 20 min video of someone I've never seen before talking about their readig habits. You are SUCH a sweetheart and so nice to listen to and i love how casual and friend-like you just appear
Omg I would love to see an updated video on how you annotate now (assuming something has changed since the last video)! I watched your annotating video years ago and I’ve been inspired to annotate in my books ever since 💕
1. I defo skip ahead to make sure everything will be all right, too! The stress is real. Reading should be fun! It's okay, I'm okay. Ha. Sometimes, I even read the last sentence in a book just for funsies... When I was a kid, that was like my thing. I have spoiled myself once or twice, though. But only by a sentence.
2. I don't TRY not to break my spines, but it never happens! I don't know how I do it. Lend me your books - I'm magic! Hahaha. I don't have trouble reading at all. Maybe I'm a cover-bender to see the pages? You know, like, when the covers get all curly from being held open? But they always go flat again. Or... ALMOST always...
3. I would love to see a video on how you annotate your books!
4. And for bookmarks... I always use a nice one, but - not gonna lie - it's a little stressful when I think I have or actually have lost one. Lately, I've been making my own bookmarks with watercolor pencils. I LOVE DOING THIS. The last batch I made I thought to cover them with packing tape and trim the edges so they've been, like, laminated and I love how profesh they look. ^_^
WE NEED ARIEL TEACHING US HOW TO ANOTATE BOOKS!!!!
I've been subscribed to you for a couple of years now and I don't really comment often but I honestly just have to say that your videos bring me so much joy
just so ya know, books unbound is my favorite thing in the world right now!! im planning on starting my year of rest and relaxation soon :)
I read ahead too! I HATE being blindsided by massive character death as I find it really upsetting. I would rather know so that I can prepare myself! I also stalk Wikia while reading so I can see who lives or dies.
I also am in love with your podcast!! I’ve listened to it over again a handful of times. This latest episode with Kayla was my favorite!! 💕💕
I want to be a one book at a time person, but usually I'm reading anywhere from 4-7 books at one time. I've tried to change, but I can't 😂
I’m the person that will start a book, a day or two later, but a new book, stop in the middle of the original book, and ... yeah
i absolutely adore your videos simply because you are so unapologetic for your reading habits! in essence, we all just love books, it's no competition, just pure happiness and everything about your videos is wonderful and its clear from the minimalistic editing that you must be wonderful in your day to day life too which cannot be said for a lot of others. thANK YOU ARIEL!!
I use artist's business cards as bookmarks because they're always beautiful. I'll collect them every year when I attend comiccon :D
I love the chaotic energy in some of these answers, makes me feel less chaotic (or more normal in my chaotic habits) in my reading haha
Please do a video on how you annotate your books! I desperately want to know what kind of highlighters you use haha
I also always read the Index, especially with non-fiction. It often shows you what the author is heading towards and the sections of the book so that you can understand the flow of the book.
I would love a video on how you annotate!
The way my ADHD is set up, I can’t chew and read at the same time, so eating is out of the question, let alone listen to music or watch TV 😂
Thank you I don't know how people do that it disturbs me all the time
I can’t read in silence...
I 9.9/10 times have to have music playing
I’m the exact opposite 💀 I love listening to music and drinking coffee or tea while I read
I use everything and anything for a book mark, from receipts, pictures, nice bookmarks, old cards from friends and family, any random piece of paper. I also try to remember the page book and often reread sentences, then realize I already had read them. I also read till end of chapter or read on a page number that can be divisible by the number three of creativity and lightheartedness. I Do not read while eating but bring a book with me anywhere I go and also read while in bed. Anything goes.
Would looooove to see a video of how you annotate! I never annotate when reading for pleasure, so I’m super curious about your motivation to do so and especially your method. Also, LOVING all the tag content you’ve done recently!
you look so great in this video!! the hair?? so cute! the glasses?? amazing! the flannel? ugh, we stan
I mostly use paint swatches in a colour that matches or compliments the cover art and leave them there so when I reread or give them to someone they have matching bookmark ready!
You are so incredibly chaotic with your books and I am so careful with them but MAN after watching this video I really want to go break a spine and dog ear my pages UGH
Also please make a video about annotating your books!
I use pretty bookmarks but also I have a little tin of magnetic book marks that are great for when you're reading books on the go!
Thank you for sharing your “bookmark alternatives” -I love knowing that a booktuber I respect + admire has the same chaotic bookmarking techniques that I do
I love that you say your books aren't for a museum. I treat my books like an old, used bookstore. I beat up my books and bend spines and lovingly put them back on the shelves. In this time of quarantine, I find myself gravitating to all of my beat up books and remember all of the good moments in them. I think the mark ups give me a better memory of those really great scenes in books. Love the chaotic energy in this video!
I have just subscribed to your channel and watched like four of your videos in succession. Your positivity has made my day brighter during quarantine!!
My bookmarks are metal page clips, they’re tiny and don’t slip out. I have never heard someone else say they have extreme anxiety when reading a book! I always felt weird over how hard it was for me to read any new book. I listen to music with lyrics while reading so I can associate a song with a book. I would love to see a video on how you annotate. Wonderful video!
YES THE ANNOTATING VIDEO
Hi Ariel! Lovely content, as always! Yes, please make an annotation video! It would be absolutely fascinating! 🤓📚❤️
Usually I can't wait until I get gone to my bookmarks to start reading a new book so I normally use the receipt I got with it 😊 except my favourite bookshop gives a bookmark with every book so when I can afford to buy from them I use their bookmark 👌 (have also used Kleenex 😂)
I used to dogear my pages or remember the page number, but I've amassed such a large collection of bookmarks that it seems silly not to use them. And it kind of makes me happy to see a bookmark sticking out from between the pages and to remember where I got it. I like to buy bookmarks (and books) as souvenirs when I travel. If I don't have access to my bookmarks, though, I often use receipts to mark where I've left off
Yesss, annotating video please!!! 💕
I will use anything and everything as a bookmark when I'm reading, although I do have one hard and fast rule in my head: If I find a bookmark or receipt or scrap of paper left in a book already, I have to use it for that book. So whenever I find an index card or whatever in a library book, I use it as that book's bookmark. Then I usually keep it cause I'm a terrible person who likes to hoard bookmarks.
I use library receipts as bookmarks, exclusively. i work at one so i have no shortage of library books or receipts (it's getting to be a problem lol). also, this video was a lot of fun :D
Oh my god, you explaining why you read ahead is exactly how I feel and why I sometimes read ahead or even look for small spoilers. I just can't relax and enjoy the book if I don't!
I agree with so many of these on a personal level, but it's nice to know I'm not the only one that reads ahead for anxiety/patience's sake! I mostly read the last sentence of the chapter, or the first sentence of the next chapter and then I'm not as stressed out while reading. I gotta mentally prepare myself and make sure everyone's okay! 🤣 I'd love to see how you annotate your books! I've never done it, but I like what you said about how it helps develop a relationship with your books.
"If I ever own my own house." Surprise you do!!
The fact that you just guess where you left off is mind blowing to me. The thought of doing that makes me so anxious.
Girl! I just found your channel and I am so glad that I did. Many of our habits and opinions around reading are different, but I feel the EXACT same way about eating/drinking while I read. I do drink and read much more often that I eat and read. Not only was that great, but then I found out that you are Canadian! I am subscribing and I look forward to seeing more content from you. Also, you have such a nice laugh.
Lately I've been using the receipt from the library as a bookmark so I remember when the books are due back! (No online renewals at my branch here in Japan, but I'm grateful they have English books at all!)
I can't believe I'm just now finding your channel!! You're hilarious. The section about bookmarks honestly stressed me out lol. But I totally feel you with the music thing. Music is so important to me that if I'm listening to it, I will always be distracted by either the lyrics or just the music itself it is a movie soundtrack. The only soundtrack I was able to listen to while reading was 1917. I was reading Dune and was really distracted by people on the train, but having the subtle soundtrack actually helped. Otherwise, it's a struggle for sure. I have to only be focused on the book. Such a fun tag!! Def wanna do it in the future :D
i would love a video about how you annotate! i've always wanted to get better at annotating because i really want to, like you said, infuse my books with a part of me.
and i'm also chaotic with my bookmarks lol i have lost easily dozens over the years (RIP scholastic book fair goodies) and have ended up using receipts, to-do lists, dog-earing, laying books out, and hoping to just remember where i was!
I can only listen lord of the rings Soundtracks while Reading nothing else😂😂
As a kid my books were my babies & I loved them looking brand new. I would open paperbacks ever so slightly & when the corners of hardcovers frayed I would cover it with paint or sharpie. I'm still gentle with them but now I adore it when my books look well loved.
Also I've never met anyone else who uses the book sleeve to mark their page ❤ Super convenient
Thank god and you for there is someone like you on the booktube who is.... just CHILL with the book reading and not like the other people on the booktube who read 20 books a month and carry the same damn energy in every damn video.. haha... I like the fact that u're so moody... I feel like reading ... I don't feel like reading... I like this book even the whole world dislikes this... I haven't read even if the world has read it....
I like the fact that you are just natural and that is the closest you are relatable to the average reader.... Love your vibe... love ur videos... keep being natural...
My usual is 3-5 books at a time. 😹 And my bookmarks are the pretty packaging of makeup that I occasionally buy. I cut them up so the beautiful illustrations don't go to waste. 😸
You're absolutely right! Your books are your books! For my books, I treat them as if they are made of gold but my paperbacks usually get beat up because of my heavy and crowded backpack for school. And yes, I do use a bookmark, mostly in fear of being spoiled if I try to flip through to see where I was at and plus, I have this expensive bookmark from the Renaissance Fair that has a sparkly pink dragon on it that I just love.
I do that of looking ahead to reassure myself what's coming too! I can't even help it, my eyes will just start flicking across the page to brace myself for what's coming
