I hate decals and signage in a home. It is cheap, and it is not art. I am a creative person with an eclectic interest and array of good art. I feel that people who decorate with signage lack personality and creativity. When I go in the kitchen, I don't need a sign to tell me to eat. I actually need one that says Don't Eat. 😀 As always, thanks for the tips and a clip with beautiful little Albert!
Meh. I love my coffee signage but I’m also a coffee-holic. Honestly, if I didn’t have coffee signage my friends wouldn’t know I lived there 🤣🤣 but that’s the only signage in my house. Anywhere.
I don't love signs in a home but it has less to do with creativity/personality and more to do with sentimental value...in most cases. TBH Those signs are the reason I have told my friends I am no longer excepting gifts for birthdays or holidays. I paint, so when possible I repurpose old decor and have actually created some cute pieces from them! Is that horrible?! Lol
Give Albert a big smooch for me. I also have a senior dog. (And a senior cat). Can’t imagine life without them. Albert is soooooo adorable ❤️. Oh and love your videos too. 😃
The carpet embedded in the tile looks to me like there used to be a swimming pool there but one too many people fell in during cocktail parties so their insurance company made them fill it in.
Great Video Garrett as always! I have said it before, as a true Bookaholic, I dislike people how use books as decor ONLY. What I mean, are those who buy books for colour, size or for the name ie CHANEL, but are not interested in there contents. I have books around my home, but they have been read, loved and used for references not just as decor. This makes me think that the person is trying to hard to impress. A home should reflect your taste, style but at the same time,be used and look cozy and comfortable. All white is another thing I dislike. I can imagine constant worries over spills, stains and dirt and no time for relaxing. A home should be a home not a show house. Like you, I dislike mess, dirty and unwelcoming homes. Like who ever lives there just doesn’t care. Your home should always be ready for company of course, but at the same time, be a place of relaxation and comfort. Your Escape from the hustle and bustle of the world around you. In our home, we have art o the walls, not of course originals (How I wish!), but Art that means something to us. PS: I am so in love with Albert 🥰
Having too many decor items in every piece of furniture is a common mistake, in my opinion. It is better to have less things and well selected than thousands of little objects and souvenirs filling up every corner. Great video as always!
Idk, my best friends house has tons of cute seasonal decorations and it looks so nice. My house is kinda the opposite, and sometimes I think it looks boring.
The denim pillow was utter filth lol! Ugh it has to be cheap chandeliers with drops that aren't real crystal. Or tea, coffee & sugar jars that say exactly that, and yet still all match... Big up Albert
Thank you for speaking to lighting. I am a real nut about lighting. I hate overhead lights (in a dining room, kitchen) without some side lighting to warm it up. Lighting is everything to a room. It makes or breaks it. I don’t think people give enough attention to it.
While house hunting one home had a tv in every room, even the bathrooms😱 and yes they had leaning tvs including one that blocked a large bay window that looked out onto a beautiful valley. 🙄ugh!
Too bright lighting always reminds me of an airport landing strip. I agree with the huge TVs that overpower a room. Loved seeing Albert. He’s so adorable. Great video as always.
I LOL'ed when you said that the wall decal was a threat. Loved seeing sweet Albert and loved your Corinthian pin adorning your cashmere, LeTresChic! Always enjoy your videos.
Anything with words or quotes. "Live, laugh, love" and "Gather" = instant eyeroll. I make an exception for "Welcome" and "Coffee" depending how/where it's used.
Those hideous, giant, inflatable holiday Santas, snowmen, etc., for your front lawn. I can’t think of anything tackier. LOVE YOUR SHOW! Binging at 2:38 AM and all night so far!
I'm tired of shiplap and barn doors. Maybe they don't technically "cheapen" a room, but I'm at the point where I groan whenever I see another room with either of them.
We recently house hunted, and while I saw a barn door in one of the houses, which it’s not my thing, not one house had actually shiplap in it. I have never seen it done anywhere except on HGTV.
Ugh I HATE seeing some suburban home with barn doors and “farmhouse” styling. And if a place in the city has it I seriously groan right there with you!! If you aren’t on the farm or homesteading your place then stop
@@calicocritterscrafts886 I personally find farmhouse cheesy af and wouldn’t style my own home that way but how does someone else’s decor affect you in any way? If you ever wonder why you don’t get invited over to friends’ houses just come back and re-read your judgmental ass comment.
Thanks for all of your wonderful free tips. My siblings and I share our vintage family framed wall photos. We rotate them between our homes. We all get to enjoy them. Victorian baby or wedding portraits look great in my 150 year old home. I also planted dollar store seeds in flower pots on my porch. It is very inexpensive, decorative, and fun. You are a bright spot in my day!!
Agree, agree, agree! I'd also like to add tacky nick-knacks on windowsills and mantels. Tiny pictures on large walls. Draperies hanging sloppily. Half dead plants. And just a pet peeve...dining furniture not centered under the overhead light which btw one of your example pictures (10:40) showed this clearly and I will zero in on that every time. Love you and your video's! Big hug for Albert!

I love your videos Garret ☺️☺️ I used to have a living room with high ceiling and open floor and my husband bought the 5000 lights 🥸 and it looked like a soccer field at night 🤣🤣 I went and bought all the bulbs 3000k. What a huge difference!!!
Get rid of the "temporary" if you still have it a year later. For instance, your mom gives you her old easy chair, you never liked it and no one else does either but you use it because you have no budget. Hopefully, after a year, you've saved to get something else. Having said that, some people don't care about their interiors (as Garrett says "love you for that") but I still love them dearly and just overlook their flat-packs, decal, dust, matchy-matchy, glaring light and inlaid carpet (and hopefully I learn enough from Garrett to have my own tasteful home).

I completely agree with the “flat pack” opinion. I don’t like any assembled furniture. Even mixed with luxurious pieces it still has the potential to cheapen a room. I will say IKEA has brought standards up a tad. Also, I agree with the lighting issue-Abrupt lighting sears my soul! You are spot on about that. I’m not a professional like yourself but interior design has always been an interest of mine and something I care about. So, I have a question… I collect lamps (by collecting I mean i have exquisite lamps throughout my home) because overhead lights are offensive to me and a beautiful lamp can upgrade a room in my opinion. Could you make a video addressing lamps? I’d love to pick your brain about lights. You truly have good taste.
Thanks garrett for helping me see what really looks cheap and how vintage can really look great. When I was growing up we were poor so we had only second hand and old stuff, so I began thinking those pieces looked cheap. But now I see a lot of designers putting those styles into rooms, and it looks so beautiful! Definitely not cheap. Now I am looking for vintage pieces to put in our home 😊

It's like artwork all by itself hung either too high or too low. It's the details that matter. The industrial desk you first showed reminded me of a child's erector set, I totally agree 💯, your office space should be beautiful, so you actually want to work there.
Oh my gosh I never ever thought about lightbulbs just the lamp! I love this concept of layering light! Brilliant as always, no pun intended. Love the pin you’re wearing too! 💖
As always, excellent and well-thought out advice, although thankfully I'm not guilty of any of these terribly tacky faux pas. Still, you're always so entertaining that I really enjoy watching. Mixing the new with vintage and antique pieces is I think the most valuable advice to take away.
Hi Friends, Albert,Garrett! My house was a mess and I thought I needed more storage. But I had to empty the laundry room and discovered tons of space when I reorganized. Finally! Who knew? Thanks Garrett!
Is it just me, or does Albert get cuter every time he goes on camera? ❤❤❤ I really appreciate that you take time to acknowledge as many commenters as you can in some way. It's really not that common on RUclips anymore - it kind of went the way of good manners! But does inspire loyalty. (Although so does being a Scorpio! Why am I not even surprised? Lol!)
Garrett reading me IMMEDIATELY re: messy house 🤣 what can I say, I like my home like I like my drama 🤷♀️ Seriously though, you're 100% spot on. Havinga tidy home just feels better too. Oh and I'm sooo with you on those pillows w/ sayings & the decals. I'm a Scorpio too. "Live, laugh, love"? In this economy? Nahhhh.

I love real wood and I have a slight lamp addiction! I have a mix of painted furniture...not antiques...mixed with beautiful wood pieces. I like to collect things that bring me joy...books, dried florals and seashells, pine cones and cool candles. I have my space filled with the things that I've collected and love...love antiques! I'm not a fan of word pieces! Also, proportion is so important! I can't stand to see a tiny table next to a huge couch! Love all your videos!
It's a STICKER....LOL!! Prev owner hired an artist to paint names of her kids on the retaining wall in backyard. Letters were as tall as the wall (4 ft high) and stretched ~30 feet long....in colors! I couldn't even power wash it off, paint absorbed into the concrete. (It's covered up now).
Love little Albert! That is the crème de la crème of all of your videos, Garrett! I have learned so much from your videos, especially adding beautiful vintage touches, with gorgeous fabrics. We have Field Spaniels so we do like a leather sofa of high quality that I can easily clean (their space) mixed with fabric chairs and coordinated upholstered dining chairs and interchangeable sofa pillow covers. I love a more upscale, formal look that we can easily relax in with visiting guests.
Omg ! You are so funny ! I have the warm light and boyfriend placed the really bright lights (that I hate ) down a small corredor .. and that’s exactly how I feel .. lol! Coming down today !!! Thank you
As usual..this video is spot on…you always enlighten us..I’ve found myself repeating things you have said when I’m in my own home..yikes! But my house is a work in progress as I try to declutter and downsize. I just purchased a MCM stainless canister set at a yard sale and am SO Excited!! I love to see you love on Albert..you’re both sweethearts!! I also didn’t know that you are a Scorpio..I am also!! It explains why I adore you!
Thanks so much for putting an end to those tacky stickers!! I think that those farmhouse sliding doors are horrible also. This upload was great. Thanks Garrett!!
Fish or mermaid wallpaper in a bathroom or chickens/rooster paper in the kitchen look so cheap to me. There are classier ways to set a coastal or farmhouse theme without it screaming at you.
The lady who owned the house before we moved in couldn't decide what she liked best so we've got roosters, wine, herbs, birdhouses, ducks, flowers, etc. None of the wallpaper, wallpaper borders, drawer pulls, or outlet/light switch plates match. And underneath the white paint (where there isn't wallpaper) is that heinous dusty rose pink from yesteryear.
I've seen some setups where people had paintings or some other kinds of artwork hinged or set up in some other way to cover their television when they weren't watching it, and I always thought that was very clever and creative. Honestly, I'd rather look at artwork than a 6-x-9-foot TV screen, looking like a giant black hole. and overpowering everything else in the room. But maybe that's just me.
I have been looking for a desk so I can stop working at my dining room table…..PLEASE do a video on how to furnish a n office space at home…desks are so expensive and I HATE rolling office chairs
I'm new to your channel and I have to say, I really enjoy watching these kinds of videos when I do dishes. Makes the job go by so much quicker. Love the puppies! Cheers, Ivy.
@@GarrettLeChic Thanks for the welcome. Your channel is entertaining and educational. Before I subbed, I binged watched a bunch of your videos, as I did a mountain of dish!
I choosed carefully some pillow from Maison Blanche and I choose limited edition one for a country and shabby chic apartment. It has wood furniture and I wanted to have nice pillows but velvet was too much. My cousin told me she dislike the pillows and that they look old even if she knows they are new. I felt disappointed because some pillows are actually made from a company that produces sofa, very durable and expensive... Till one day for Xmas I saw her living room and I realized she had her gym appliance next to the dining table and some industrial furniture mixed with black fake leather sofas.... I realized Lechic is just not for everyone... Can't blame her if she has no taste whatsoever
Love Love Love your channel! Thank you so much for always being honest and right to the point about decor styles and trends. I feel so enlightened every time I watch one of your videos and I can’t wait to see the next one.

Instead of a monster TV consider a discrete screen you can lower from the ceiling alongside a little but powerful beamer on a floating shelf … far nicer
I stayed at an AirB&B where every horizontal surface had knickknacks on it. The round dining room table had a round wooden plate full of gordes and pine cones that covered most of the table. Even one person eating at that table had to move that thing. The toilet commode had knickknacks on it. So gross. This place was also in Southern California - you know earthquake country - and ALL of the cabinetry was open shelving full with glasses and ceramics to accomodate 8 people. She wrote notes in the guest instructions to put the knickknacks back before leaving. She clearly didn't get the hints from her guests.
The Albert cameos always make me smile. Love you beautiful Albert!💋💋💋❤❤❤ and Garrett you are looking ultra chic in this video. Thankfully I'm not doing any of these. I also enjoy mixing the old with the new. I am repulsed by the whole word "art" thing. Plaques and especially stickers. As always lovely and informative video charmingly delivered.
Love your humor, Albert, wardrobe, and advice. I just bought a transitional navy blue sofa. I live in arizona and kind of like the modern desert feel. Minus an enlarged deliberately Polaroid quality Joshua tree photo on the wall of course. What do you suggest for accent colors, pieces, etc. any advice is so appreciated.
I love the pastel colored plaid patterns (Gingham ,Buffalo etc) Those are what i choose to be my pillow cases. And instead putting Words decal on the wall, you can do thrifting, there are tons of beautiful vintage paintings/wall decors to buy, atleast that's what i did. Anyway, Albert is a very cute Pup 🐶 💖
Watching your vlog today and simultaneously noticing my 90’s tile fireplace (missing some grout mind you!) framed by beigey carpet, has been something I’ve repressed just being distracted by other projects. As a fellow Scorpio I appreciate your profiler studies into crimes of aesthetic squalor.
Dozens and dozens of CHEAP accessories! I found that my clients tended to purchase LOTS of small, inexpensive accessories to fill spaces and then just kept doing it. Got $20? Buy something small and cheap. The moral to this? Save all those $20's and INVEST in one or two BIG accessories that make a statement and cut the clutter. Get the idea I hate cheap accessories?

It's the details that matter. The industrial desk you first showed reminded me of a child's erector set, I totally agree 💯, your office space should be beautiful, so you actually want to work there.
Oh my gosh I never ever thought about lightbulbs just the lamp! I love this concept of layering light! Brilliant as always, no pun intended. Love the pin you’re wearing too! 💖
Thanks so much! 😊
As always, excellent and well-thought out advice, although thankfully I'm not guilty of any of these terribly tacky faux pas. Still, you're always so entertaining that I really enjoy watching. Mixing the new with vintage and antique pieces is I think the most valuable advice to take away.
Glad you enjoyed the video Ingrid!
Thanks for making me laugh. I always think those dried flowers with twiddly bits of wood, usually sprayed with glitter, make any room look cheap.
You are so welcome!
The painting next to you is so elegant.
Thanks so much!
Hi Friends, Albert,Garrett! My house was a mess and I thought I needed more storage. But I had to empty the laundry room and discovered tons of space when I reorganized. Finally! Who knew? Thanks Garrett!
I did the same thing.
Lol!)
Thanks Dodie! I'm trying to reach out as much as I can even if it's just a thank you or a like/favorite to let people know I care. :)
Nahhhh.
Thank you Garrett!!!🌹
Just found your channel today, love everything about it especially lovely Albert. He and his brothers have the best dad any dog could ever dream for.🥰🤩

Thanks for sharing Cynthia! Glad you are enjoying. :)
You had me at the intro and you kept me as a subscriber with the puppy kisses. You are adorable and correct with everything you said. Well done!
Yay! Welcome to to the channel! It's great to have you as part of our very valued subscriber family. Glad you are enjoying!
My favorite segment was the one addressing wall stickers!
Spot on!!
Glad you liked it!
Thanks so much! Glad you are enjoying the videos. Please take a moment to support the channel by subscribing if you haven't already. :)
Thanks so much! I’m so glad you are enjoying the videos. 🐶🐶🐶

I love how you say “I love that for you.” 🙂
Thanks so much! :)
OK, gotta love those Baby Albert moments! And love how you always make me laugh. So fresh and appealing.
Thanks so much! Glad you are enjoying. Albert loves being part of the family, and we just love him so much.
Thanks from a new (messy) Aries french subscriber.

@@GarrettLeChic Nice.
Okay, your dog is the cutest omg 😍
Thank you! He's an amazing dog, and very loved. :)
Ahhhhhhhh 😱 Albert! 😍😍😍🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️
🐶🐶🐶😊😊
If I see one more “Live, Laugh, Love..” pillow.
I’m setting fires 🔥
I agree absolutely
Omg I'm so glad you included wall decals and printed pillows. I've always hated them. Why are they so popular? Why do people buy those things?!

You can also get the same effect right here on YT, artwork screen savers, no more black screens!😊

Can you do an episode on styling travel souvenirs? I travel a lot and my souvenirs are of different styles and different sizes
Oh, Albert!!!! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️🥰🥰🥰🥰 i love him!! 😍
He's a sweet and intelligent boy!
Oh my... YES to the lighting!!!!!!
Fabulous as always 💫 thank you
You are so welcome
Something that makes your house look expensive is Albert. For me, it's my two pomeranians lol. Love your channel! And Albert is so darling.
Thanks so much, and thank you for watching Devon! Please take a moment if you haven't already, and join our very valued subscriber family. :)
The random red walls in people homes or just when one wall is painted another color
Crazy Lighting: Like a trip I don't want to go on. 😳 Yes! So funny and so true! When I visit homes with the crazy lighting I can't wait to get out.

I absolutely love your channel. You have great taste.
Thanks so much! I really appreciate you watching and subscribing. 😊😊😊
Thanks so much for all your support Victoria! I’m glad you enjoyed the video. 🐶🐶🐶
I love seeing my little sweetie! oh, and it’s nice seeing you too Garrett! Lol
Thanks for watching!
Thanks so much Terri!
Agree those sticker words wall ay fade around them and never go away
I love you content and your sass. You are great at this!! 🤩

Yay! Thanks so much. :)
