College student here, can confirm these hacks are all awesome. Allow me to emphasize: Never EVER buy a text book before you attend the first class, like 70% of the time the prof will tell you you don't actually need it. No one expects you to come to class with all the materials the first day in college, so don't worry!
That's good cause my math teacher screamed at me first day highschool why I don't have all the things I need and I was like it's the first freaking day
with the command strips, wait until you actually see your dorm to see the paint/wall condition because the command strips work fine in my dorm and i can't use thumb tacks on the walls because of the building material it's made of. you can also ask your RA to make sure because they'll probably know and they'll recommend what to do to avoid charges lol. if you DO rip the paint off, see if you can file a maintenance request form to fix it before the end of the semester. you don't get charged for anything you file a request form for as long as you submit it before move out time. ALSO you can make friends with the art students on campus because chances are they'll have SOMETHING you can use to fix whatever you broke so that you aren't charged for it or they might know someone who can fix it for you. if you ever need something pretty random that you doubt anyone will have to let you borrow, chances are an art student will have it.
I can tell you as a college student that I used every single one of these hacks and they make life so much easier. I think the only times I took an 8am class is when the good professors are teaching at that time
PLEASE I STILL HAVE LIKE 2 YEARS BEFORE COLLEGE AND IM LOOKING AT THIS STUFF BECAUSE I HATE NOT KNOWING WHAT IM SUPPOSED TO DO. THANK YOU FOR SOMEWHAT QUELLING MY ANXIETY
I went to a summer camp once and was on the top bunk. I woke up on the bottom bunk though and was insanely confused. I asked my roommate and she said I fell off the bed in the middle of the night. I asked how I got on the bottom bunk and she told me I crawled up. I asked if I said anything since I remembered nothing and she said I said "ow"
Going into student teaching now, and so many of these are accurate. (Though I didn’t have the issue with command strips because my current school housing has cinderblock walls)
True story about that last one... the first morning ever that I woke up in my college dorm, I FELL OFF THE BED ON THAT HARD FLOOR. That really hurted. My bed wasn't even that high, it was like 4 ft off the ground, but STILL. It's quite a morning when you leap off the bed to turn your alarm off, before realizing your bed is in the air 😂
I knew a guy who lofted his bed one day and that night the building flooded so the alarms went off and everyone had to evacuate. He forgot he had lofted his bed, so he just leaped off his bed in a panic and fell like six feet. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
My mother who went to the same college: DON’T DO THE LOFTED BEDS- Me who just submitted the lofted bed thingy thing Idk: Too late- Mom: don’t leap off the bed when you need to turn off the alarm. You’ll regret it and fall 5 ft. And bruise ur head
2:14 I just started college this fall and my schedule was not that spread out originally: Start of the semester- M/W/Th- 2 T-3 F-0. Now I have it as M/W/Th- 1 T-2 F-0. I’m glad that I was able to drop some of my classes before it was too late. It definitely makes my first semester of College a lot less stressful.
with the textbook thing as well, ALWAYS wait until after the first day to purchase it because chances are the professors will either give you access to the textbook online for free, just the pages you need for their class, or they tell you the specific version you need and you can find a free pdf version of it instead
Lol this reminds me a thousand times of college. I collected these tips mentally mostly in my first semester and by my third semester I felt like a walking college advice encyclopedia
I don't know why.. I just like the idea of college. It's probably that everything is down to me for once since in college you have so much more freedom. Like.. going to the bathroom! College: just go whenever Secondary school(high school): nahh, just piss on the seat. You aren't going anywhere.
0:19 sadly at my school, we’re not allowed to use thumb tacks. You just have to be gentle with your Command strips and use on-brand strips. You can also heat them a little with a blow dryer to weaken the adhesive and they’ll come right off
I love how I’m watching this instead of studying for finals to get into a good college. Best part is I’m not even going to an American college (I’m Spanish so I’ll probably go to a uni here in Spain)
I'm planning on going to a Russian one. (Don't worry, I have been learning Russian and talking to the other students attending said college will help me improve in speaking the language.)
That last one I believe I had a lofted bed about 5 feet up and there were quite a few times where I would literally wake up against the railing and that was keeping me from plummeting to my death
Oh gosh. I’m having the most cheapest and undignified university life. I’m an online student cause time managing is hard with the amount of work they put you through. (Also I can’t drive and waking up to commute would take up half my energy). Chores and exercise get a 2-4 hours each a week. I don’t buy anything, I live with my parents, I don’t leave the house, and I take out the biggest student loans. I study in my pajamas on the bed and switch my television from the lecture to RUclips every five minutes. I wake up between 10am to 12pm. I study anytime after 2pm. My work length is 4-6 hours, 8 if I’m feeling obliged. I go to sleep after 1am. Even with how minuscule that is, I sincerely don’t understand how people can have a job at the same time. I keep my lifestyle limited because I know working heavily throughout high school was detrimental to my health. It’s not something I want to put myself through again. Lowering my performance expectations is also highly necessary. I need to take my time actually learning instead of emulating what looks successful.
I know I just dumped all my life into this. But if you chose an alternative study method (and probably studying in a non-US country), the lifestyle will presumably be different. You will have to figure out different tips and find out what works best for you. I think being healthy is the best option. But if you’re in NZ like me and must take 4 papers at once to be considered studying full-time, it’s okay to consider making a sacrifice. Most of my friends don’t make a big fuss about it like I do, but always recognise your limits.
With the career fair. Don't sleep on free stuff. Yeah a lot of it is crazy you won't use or will break. Don't worry if it has plastic, someone else will get it and they will throw it out, so give yourself the chance to decide if you want it. My senior year, I was handing out school sunglasses, which were garbage. A lot of the freshmen walked by with a polite no thank you. I was annoyed how few people were taking them. Show I shouted "Free stuff get your free stuff, next semester your favorite thing will be free stuff." I got some of the freshmen to walk back and grab some, I also got their parents too.
in my country giving birth is very low but in rural its expensive.( Normal childbirth cost about BDT 800 at the thana health complex and BDT 1600 at the medical college hospital, and emergency caesarean section cost about BDT 13,000. With other complications, the estimated costs were BDT 20,000-25,000, a huge amount for poor, rural families.)
Here's the ultimate tip for college: DON'T let people pressure you into going to college!!! Particularly in the US, the 4 year university has become little more than a money making scheme. Back when I was graduating high school years ago, I WISH that the world had been more honest and let us know that it really would not be the end of the world if you didn't attend college. I could have avoided a lot of financial loss as well as a lot of strife between me and my parents if the whole world weren't trying to convince to both me AND my parents that you MUST continue schooling right after high school. The only good thing about my college experience is that it connected me with my fiancée.
I learned really quickly from my parents before I even got to college when I came to class schedules that my freshman year of college I only had one class in the morning and there was at 10:30 in the morning all the rest of my classes were either in the evening or afternoon
The command strips rip the paint because people just pull them off the wall. If you look at the instructions you're suppose to pull the tab in the back. if you pull the tab in the back down it removes with no ripping.
It's the fact I lofted by brd in college my freshman year and I move in my sleep also I didn't fall off my bed. The one time being short was a life saver at 4'6.
We had painted cinderblock walls, so tacks don't work. We were told to use PlastiTac, which is a malleable, kneadable sort of white (or sometimes blue) sticky-stuff that goes on your wall. It's really fun to play with, and I highly recommend it for use on tabletob games, where you have to end the session before the battle is over. But it's not so great on painted cinderblock walls. My recommendation? Just bite the bullet and don't bother to decorate your walls. Use table lamps, instead of string lights. Use potted plants or mini statues, instead of posters. Or maybe just focus on your desk and your bedding, and leave the floor space empty, because you have basically none, anyway. Definitely bring your own quilt, comforter, or WARM blanket. The dorm will provide basic bedding, but it is SO basic, it will barely keep you warm on a SUMMER night, let alone winter! Plus, it's boring. Oh! You know what can help brighten up a room? A bed-ruffle! Plus, it hides all the junk you are storing under your bed, because of space limitations.
I made the bathroom mistake my first class first semester of college; my teacher looked at me and asked "you just graduated last fall didn't you?" I was like "yeah" and he told me "well so you know, you don't have to ask you can just leave" never asked again
I fell of a bunkbed once onto a rock floor. I don’t know how it happened but I just had like a tiny purple bruise on my leg 😭 And the funny thing is I didn’t wake up when I fell- I woke up later tho!
I dont agree with not rooming with your bestie. I did it for two years and avoided having a terrible experience with strangers freshman year. But make sure you really know them and their habits.
Learn to repair things, especially if you're going to be living in a dorm! Money is tight for most students, and I'm always shocked how many of my peers replace things that could be repaired. They aren't on packing lists, but every student should have super glue and a small sewing kit at the very least.

I can vouch for most of these except for the the paint one. I don't live in a traditional dorm. It's more of an apartment than a dorm. The 8 am classes are okay. And I knew to make sure to not have any back-to-back classes only one class in my freshman year first semester was back to back with a 15 minute break in between all the rest of my classes had anywhere from an hour to 5 hours between them

I fell of my bed when i was like 9 and it had railing, i was just sleeping on the end of the bed where there wasn't any, like an idiot. I fell and kept sleeping, i was in pain but for some reason i didn't fully wake up until my parents came into the room lol. Apparently i made a really loud crashing sound. My back hurt for a week.

I’m in high school and I bring an umbrella every day because a lot of my classes require going outside to get to, and I walk to a pick up spot after school.
4:42 YO THATS MY LOCAL LIBRARY WTFFF
I love how he just shares his sob story’s from uni
I’m a middle schooler and I always bring an umbrella with me. So I’m already 1step ahead 😌
First x✨

Thanks for watching! 😊
Why do you always make me laugh 😂
3:44 make sense you think you know someone until they are in your space and you are in there's and you can't get over how they're whistling all the time and they always complain when you have to clean your toenails yes I have to do in our room it has the best lighting my point and your gone and didn't listen to me
I’m not even in high school yet but GOOD TO KNOW
Going to PSU in like. . . exactly two months, and I'm a little stressed thank you
Putting it out there, Apple gives at least $100 off a Mac or iPad if you buy before October 1 of your freshman year
When you have been besties since 2nd grade and are like sister: Now I know your point- But we don't care we almost never get in fights we are like the same person
As someone who constantly will roll around, throwing everything off my bed in the process, railings are necessary.
Best tip on the last one for me bc Ima kung fu fighter in my sleep 😂😂😂
