Thank you soooooooooooo much for this guide, I actually beat him on ps2 a long time ago, but I just beat him today a few hours ago on my ps3 by mostly using this video. Thank you for all the awesome guides, I've really enjoyed them. I know I'm really late to commenting on this.
One of the most difficult bosses I’ve ever fought. Took me weeks to beat him.
Anyone notice how after Trema says "Nemesis," an illusion of Paragon (Nemesis re-named) appears? Fun trivia.
Actually, if you reading final fantasy x wiki about monster arena or nemesis, you maybe noticed the old man as a owner of monster arena. He actually the unsent trema!

From the way Trema took down Paragon for us, I'm guessing Paragon is the one who killed Trema when he was still alive and human.

Because this is X2. Re skinned, re hashed, little story depth part 2. Combat and finishing the game is still fun tho lol

He's a character with a lot of wasted potential. It's a shame he didn't get a proper story and his own character model.
A lot of X-2 is like that. A good game that could have been amazing if more time and money was invested in it. I like the game, but the reused assets and obvious plot holes make it feel like a rushed cash grab.

i really think this is the hardest boss to face in all final fantasy games ... i defeated him with juna and rikku doing the triger happy attack with the cat nip each and with hastle bangle and rabbits foot and with the garment grid higroad winds, and then paine with the dark night and crystal bangle and another accessory that gave her 60 more points of defense and the garment grid valiant luster ... the idea is that Paine has 250 defense points, so she can survive the meteor and use mega phoenix and xpotion, but you have to have at least one cat nip

The truth is I don't remember if it was for defense or for another attribute, the basic idea of this tactic as I remember is that at least one of the girls survives to revive the other two that cause damage... the problem with Threma is that it has almost 2 million Hp so if you want to pass it the girls must cause at least 50 thousand for each attack... if not, there comes a time when there will surely be 2 meteors in a row and goodbye that's why the issue of cat nip and that you have to make sure that someone always lives@@AndreasFleissner

Can anyone point me to a version of this part of the game where Trema was a REAL challenge? For those of you who never traveled down the Infinite Dungeon to fight this guy, he is about a THOUSAND times more difficult when you don't play the game in Wait Mode.
Even when I did something sneaky and Osmosed away all of Trema's MP (so that he couldn't use Ultima), he was STILL hellishly difficult to combat when you fight him "for real."
It's been a very long time since I played this, but I'm pretty sure that he did a lot more damage with his physical attacks as well than were shown in this video.
Not trying to rain on your parade, but you had it WAY easy in this video..
I always play the game in active mode, it's more of a challenge :D
Omg I remembered getting so pissed and nearly throwing my controller trying to beat him without knowing how to get the "good" dresspheres. Such a pain.
I suspect that this is several playthroughs in with Iron Dukes and Adamantite in use to buff defence.
Edit: Just noticed he earned the trophy here so that's not it.

Also, if you want a video of Trema being fought in Active mode, make one yourself ;).
He was actually buffed here. You just have easier access to mascot ( you could still fight him with mascot if you got it before fighting him non new game plus) catnip was nerfed. I mean you can use a fiend you’ve beefed up to completely obliterate him or meme him out of existence like I did but he should be harder for the girls at least cuz their tools got nerfed and he doesn’t need mp for meteor and ultima anymore. Wait mode is what is making him easier here. Active mode and the girls should be harder then the og. However he still can be completely obliterated by a single fiend if you want because that’s where the real insane power is.
Trema looks like Genfu (Dead or Alive) fusioned with Pai Mei (Kill Bill 2).
Great references. The DOA series was iconic! Yes, I would add, personality wise, Yunalesca. Both kind and polite in appearance but merciless and quite careless towards other people.
Poor Rikku just kept getting up and dying

I'm guessing Catnip was nerfed making trigger happy gunners unusable in the HD Remaster
It’s ok they made mascot way easier to get ( youth league cup in arena its the reward for clearing first time) and there’s also fiends raising which can be extremely broken.
Catnip still causes you to do 9999 damage when in low health, but it now has auto-slow & auto-berserk. You can nullify auto-slow with an auto-haste accessory, but nothing overrides auto-berserk, so you can't make inputs. That's why thief is used, since it hits twice.
Aside from Final Impact, Paragon only attacks & -agas when oversouled?
Psychic has Tetra Eater & one of the kinetic abilities is to nullify physical damage. Just that one move would hurt you, but only if it did special damage. Have the auto-life garment grid and you practically can't lose.
Trema however...
I cried when I finally beat paragon and got mad when trema killed my entire party in five seconds lost it and broke my control lol

I just simply used an OP monster against both Zaon and Trema. I know HD is easier but hey.
It was a very hard task to even bribe Paragon ! He is super tough when not oversouled !

Trema was a piece of cake,revived Riku and Yuna asap,then switched Yuna and Paine into mascot,Riku to alchemist and beaten him the 1st time I faced him.

Get the assesory that makes you have one character do the max damage possible each hit eguip gunner sphere and use trigger happy your welcome have yuna heal riku attack and payne to support
In the remaster you have auto berserk while in range for the 9999 damage. It ain’t even the max possible damage ( you know since the invincible accessory lets you break the damage limit)

HOW IN THE FUCC YOU BEAT THIS BOSS. Even with Mascot and all of them at Level 99, still cannot beat it!! Already busted up my PS Vita and damn near busting my PS3 trying to beat this boss like 30 times!!
deeyin616 this is one way to do it. I used adamantite and ribbons, dark knights and alchemists for faster item use/ mega potions. Darkness ignores defense.

@@jayhiryu2139 It was nearly 5 years ago when I made this comment. I read and watched some of the clips and I beat it with Yuna and Paine as mascots and Rikku as gunner with catnip and trigger happy about a couple weeks after I posted this comment. Come to find out also that beating Paragon in oversoul mode is actually easier to beat than it’s regular form.
Personally I pretty much just had Paine solo with adamantite and the auto haste accessory in mascot when i first did it. Then I did a funny fiend run cuz fiend arena is absurdly overpowered

This guide seems like it should work well. Unfortunately for me every time I fight him. He hits me with nothing but Genesis after Genesis. Kills me in like 30 seconds

Also Trema is not the hardest. He just has the most HP. Major Numerus has 4 targets that each attack and have 555555, 666666, 666666, and 777777hp.
I remember all this and i worked really hard 185 hours and more 10 times and more
the best accessory there is and more and more and more hard work all on the vita.
I came to this video because I needed to remember did I actually do this fight. I have the trophy for it. But I know I'm not good enough to beat him.

Isn't gunner trigger happy capnip spam better then rikku catnip double attack?
HD Remaster puts you in berserk and slow when you use catnip, thieft dressphere attacks twice despite having berserk and slow so it's the best with catnip in the HD Remaster.
In the Remastered edition, Cat Nip also gives the character Berserk, making Trigger Happy unusable.
whar items do you have equipped on yuna to survive his attacks and magic?
i used catnip with yuna so she can use trigger happy
Shakazulu not that easy to pull of in this version of the game, as catnip also inflicts auto berserk.

Do you think it'd be possible for a creature team to finish the fights? Clearly, the biggest obstacle with such a team is the inability to heal the team
Creatures are absurdly overpowered. I’ve done it with one. Creatures massively outclass the girls. 255 all stats except hp which is 99999. Oh and you can have them heal. My recoil had autolife and white wind as the healing of choice ( white wind cuz it scales based off max hp meaning it was the best healing per mp) and autolife because while you can easily survive ultima since every hit of meteor hits one target even max possible bulk ain’t enough to survive. Even with auto wall ( protect and shell at the same time)

I don't get it why are the bosses waiting for you to make a decision before they attack? They constantly attack me even if I haven't made a decision. Also, I chose wait mode but it doesn't help.
You already have your answer. Use Wait Mode and all ATB bars will freeze while you are in a menu. Of course if an enemy or ally already has a full ATB bar, then they will commence the action regardless of Wait Mode.

Hmm. Would the hasted catnip trick work with lulu and two mascots instead of rikku? Since all of her t-spells hit 8 times instead of two (and are always a guaranteed hit since its magic) the fight would be much faster

There is a tactic.Rikku using catnip and speed bracer, then when using Moogle Beam/Cactling Gun Trema's action will be paused and rikku will be able to attack him by doing 20k damage every time she hits Trema. He did use ultima but i survived it thanks to to high defence and HP.

Trema is one of the hardest bosses ever in the entire FF franchise with 1 million of HP and many super attacks that could kill anyone with one hit. There's that !

Good optional boss, but his archetype was so predictable... and so pointless.
why not just use the gunner mode, and then max out damage to 9999, and then use the rapid fire thing technique, and then spam it when using it too. This way for every shot you get off at him, it counts as 9999, thus you can get around 5 to 10 shots off per turn, and thus around 50,000 to 100,000 hp per round.

Oversoul happens when you will certain number of monsters of the same type.

Álvaro Maurício Simple, raise everybody to level 99, then equip them with either Mythril Bangle (raises HP by 60%) or Crystal Bangle (raises HP by 100%).

Yuna - Incorrect, you can get mascot without having to go to New Game +, completing all quests in Chapter 5 gives you mascot, I advise you to read a guide on mascot or watch my full game walkthrough on how to get all dresspheres.

Well you can get mascot from ep complete in all areas sans via Infinito AND from YL cup, so you could have 2 at this point in a first run. It's not useless, why wouldn't you use mascot when it's the best dressphere?

+Speculate Me Fine, i;ll list the obvious ones too. The overdramatic acting, borderline child porn female cast, the 'oohh, behold me True form!' cliche they repeat every 5 seconds. Lastly, the typical overkill abilities bosses throw at you near the end of a fight, hurray for convoluted difficulty!
neothaka 1. Overdramatic acting is what they were paid for. They aren't paid to speak monotone throughout the game, it is to project emotion.
2. Not sure what you're on about "child porn female cast", it has a Teen rating for a reason.
3. Overkill abilities the bosses throw out are curveballs, it's meant to throw you off and think about your technique before you attack.
+Speculate Me not sure if you've ever seen a movie, but if you think FF acting is the epitome of a good performance, then you're in for a ride. over acting kills emotion because it comes across as forces and often comical.
it's cute that you think a teen (or any rating for that matter) actually means anything.
the overkill abilities aren't curve balls. they're a means of creating artificial difficulty. The whole of it is that can't prepare or 'think about your strategy' because it comes out of nowhere. it's just a cheap mechanic to make you replay bosses. prime example is that demon on the lamp in FF. you think you're good, then when he is about to go down, he spams Demi which completely obliterated your party. Same as with the acting , if you think this is brilliant design your mind will be blown by any game with a proper thought out difficulty.
While I'm a really big FF fan, and can always find at least a few good points even in my least favorite games in the series, the overdramatic acting is one of the reasons I really like the non-voiced ones over the voiced ones...
FFX has a sick story, but oh man oh man when I hear anyone of the main cast but Auron or Lulu speak I get instant brainrot.
I think emotion is better projected when it's not overacted, because then you can actually feel a better connection with the character..
I felt I had a much better connection with Tidus when he wasn't acting like a total buffoon.
This is probably a personal thing tho, it's at least how I percieve it.
Same goes for FFXII voice acting, alot of people call it bland, monotone and boring, I think it actually really brings out the story in a serious but effective manner.
