I had to laugh when Officer Sittre from Clark County said she went from elementary school teacher one day to being a police officer the next. In both cases she's handling a lot of little children. And she does know how to handle difficult people & de-escalate. I've seen her in several videos & she's pretty amazing. Respect to her for how she handles things.

She went from one extreme to another. The little kids listen better than most of the adults that cross the jail doors.
She's my favourite officer in the series. I just like her demeanor. She seems like she really does care if the people coming through the door, better themselves. When I was a preschool teacher we had simple songs that would get the kids to sit in a circle, quiet down and listen...maybe they need to make some behave in jail songs...lol.

One can't go from being a teacher to a cop from one day to the next... There's the academy, graduation, tests both physical and mental, backround checks, multiple interviews, a psych eval, a swearing in, and much more involved with becoming a police officer. It can NOT be done in one day, it takes months.

What gets me is that this same people go out and do it again; over consume... addicts or addicts in the making. It would’ve been really nice to hear the story from the witness (sitting on the middle, top bunk) to the innate being taken down and getting the bloody nose! I know for order/structure the officer probably HAD to just lead the convo and explain the inmate said he was wrong. It was nice, at least, he went in there to follow up with the roommates. Too bad another account wasn’t listened to - maybe just away from the other guys.
I so wonder - even though he admitted being wrong - if the many inmate witnesses (particularly the one closest) thought that it was excessive force of not.
Maybe incidents happen so much they it’s all settled as long as the center point person is alright.

For some reason far to many American males have an overwhelming and overflowing excess of machismo. It is usually unfounded in the long run, but this show and others like it display it on a regular basis. Basically, in my view, it is a surplus of a societally imbued sense of infantile insecurity compounded by a society which promotes and, oddly, honours violence. I am so glad to be a Canadian.

8 male officers to hold that one man down. It took 8 male officers to hold my 80lb self back when I was a drug addicted teen. I was super strong when I unknowingly took PCP when I smoked a joint. I can't believe it took 8 men to hold me down. I was just a tiny little female teenager. Super strength is real.

He's in most Tampa episodes and he has yet to ever treat an inmate like a human. He taunts them, ridicules them, and is just an overall jerk. Every single time. I don't understand how he had a job after the first time he was in a show. It's people like him who give officers a bad reputation. I know this is an old episode, but I truly hope he's flipping burgers for a living now.

I just found my favorite segment of JAIL ever! 40:34 “I bet you feel real tough now, don’t ya?” I love how the police get to talk to people in jail, and how they don’t allow people to talk smack to them. As opposed to the streets where they get constantly berated bc we have freedom of speech.

Here are a few things to keep in mind. Once you have been arrested and youre rights have been read to you remain silent. Once they transfer custody to a detention center you still have the right to remain silent. However be compliant. Request a lawyer whenever they ask why you have been arrested. They know why you are there. They still can use whatever you say against you in court. Follow commands be respectful as possible. Do not make a plea deal without a lawyer. Not a public defender aka a public pretender. Generally public defenders graduated lowest in their class. Ds make degrees. Also on top of all this stop breaking the law a$$hole.
