  • A court is in session, a verdict is in
No appeal on the docket today
    Just my own sin
The walls are cold and pale
    The cage made of steel
    Screams fill the room
    Alone I drop and kneel
    Silence now the sound
My breath the only motion around
    Demons cluttering around
    My face showing no emotion
    Shackled by my sentence
    Expecting no return
    Here there is no penance
    My skin begins to burn
(And I said oh) So I held my head up high
    Hiding hate that burns inside
Which only fuels their selfish pride
(And I said oh) We're all held captive
    Out from the sun
A sun that shines on only some
We the meek are all in one
I hear a thunder in the distance
See a vision of a cross
I feel the pain that was given
On that sad day of loss
A lion roars in the darkness
    Only he holds the key
A light to free me from my burden
    And grant me life eternally
    Should have been dead
    On a Sunday morning
    Banging my head
    No time for mourning
    Ain't got no time
(And I said oh) So I held my head up high
    Hiding hate that burns inside
Which only fuels their selfish pride
(And I said oh) We're all held captive
    Out from the sun
A sun that shines on only some
We the meek are all in one
    [Guitar break]
    I cry out to God
    Seeking only his decision
    Gabriel stands and confirms
    I've created my own prison
    I cry out to God
    Seeking only his decision
    Gabriel stands and confirms
    I've created my own prison
(And I said oh) So I held my head up high
    Hiding hate that burns inside
Which only fuels their selfish pride
(And I said oh) We're all held captive
    Out from the sun
A sun that shines on only some
We the meek are all in one
(And I said oh) So I held my head up high
    Hiding hate that burns inside
Which only fuels their selfish pride
(And I said oh) We're all held captive
    Out from the sun
A sun that shines on only some
We the meek are all in one
Should've been dead on a Sunday morning
    banging my head
    No time for mourning
    Ain't got no time

For me this song is about fighting addiction and God being the only one that can save you from it. I've been there for a long time but I hit my knees and begged God to take it from me and I'm proud to say with a great husband and a loving church family and a merciful God I am clean And stronger than ever. You just have to pray to God and trust in him with all are your heart and all things can be made right through Christ and Christ alone.

Oh honey, hang on sweetie. You are so young and GOD is EVERLASTING. Even at 63 I'm still struggling behind those bars. I try to let go and LET GOD, and I'm still searching for the how to do that manual. It's like a dummy's guide for a long life of being so celf centered along with ALL of the oldies but goodies like pride, arrogance, hatred, bigotry, malice and ALL the rest of the sins we as humans always fall into. Obviously if I were perfect, I wouldn't be up on a Monday morning, banging my own head inside this cell I locked my own self into because I wouldn't yield to the LORD. But PRAISE GOD AND HE IS NOT DONE WITH ME YET or I wouldn't be here at 2:20 am commenting on your testimony.

Creed gets more uplifting each passing year. The late '90s were so much fun. I hope and pray we may experience another time like that in this life. Deep pools in summertime, amazing movies, Playstation/N64, go-karts, and music that was just plain fun to listen to.

My brother passed away January 10th 2022. My brother spend most of his adult life in addiction or prison unfortunately. growing up my dad played creed all the time for us, this song was one of our favorites. When we’d go visit my brother we’d always listen to creed like we were kids in the backseat again driving around with dad. I play this every time I visit his grave now or when I need to scream it out. I’m thankful for creed & how it reminds me of my childhood and my brother. Rest In Peace, Christopher. Creed guitarist Mark Tremonti wrote the music to this song, and lead singer Scott Stapp composed the lyrics, which are about his struggles with life at a time when he was questioning his faith. He realized he had created a prison within his own mind.
After Creed became wildly popular (and at the same time, reviled), Stapp created another kind of prison for himself with drug addiction, alcoholism, and a series of unflattering incidents the tabloids lapped up. In 2012, he was able to take an honest look at his life and re-evaluate his priorities, which he wrote about in his memoir Sinner's Creed. When we spoke with Stapp the following year, he explained, "Any time we have reconciliation in life, and any time there's balance brought back into life and perspective, at the end of those things, you find peace and joy and contentment, and that's where my life is today."

Prideful not at all, but that too out the window so dam proud I wont admit if I'm falling even if the fall is killing me-didnt realize- JUATIN I havent slept for multi hours and believe I'm slightly "over tired gift or maybe just stupidity thia day" BUT HANG IN THERE, doesn't matter what you grab hold of but do it and dont let go, IF U LOSE UR GRIP GRAB AGAIN, never quit trying thats what quiting is! NEVER QUIT TRYING u fall-stand up, fall stand again, fall get on ur knees & push up, fall- roll around all you need but get back up, u need not stand straight - just stand, no matter how u get up or who u use to pull u up or what I use - ALWAYS GET BACK UP! HUG URSELF DAM IT! U r on a difficult path - just stay on the path run, walk skip crawl roll inch by inch but never stop trying, my heart is with you man life is so dam difficult.
