I'm a geezer and fan of old sci-fi stuff since childhood, but I'd never heard of this one! It's downright brilliant; not at all the flakey stuff we can usually expect from the '50s. The concept of an inner Earth, as proposed in Bulwer-Lytton's writings; a "black sun;" all stuff that was far beyond the usual. It's sort of a cross between "Things To Come" (especially that vehicle!) and "Journey to the Center of the Earth." I can recommend this one 100%; thanks so much for posting it.

I had to smile at the idea of that depth. As a driver at 200 ft considering the cabin pressure at 2500 miles ...wulf...but cool movie at theater when nobody had A/C and stereo but the movies for 10¢!

The Cyclotram looks like a cross between a futuristic tank and a 1949 Cadillac.
Besides the shape being completely different, "Things to Come" was a British production and "Unknown World" was American.

Their cyclotram looks rather primitive by today's standards, and yet they were able to go sixteen hundred miles below the Earth's surface, while today we can not even go as deep as 8 miles. Clearly, itt makes more sense to avoid nuclear annihilation by going to an island paradise, where fish have eyes, and rabbits can breed. Now we know.

Binyon's stream of consciousness: I really love this flick. It is awful and who the F smokes a pipe in a craft like that? What's up with nearly everything they do? I think the lack of O2 is making them all dopey. Fist fights? Really? I love this movie.. seen it many times, but with my memory... It's new to me! You gotta love the "Central Casting" roles - one ex-nazi with accent, wealthy guy with excess testo, a very intelligent and sexy lady scientist, a mad scientist (that guy... but).
Oh, I know what you're thinking... He's not mad! and You are correct! But he is PISTOFF!
    Movie over. that's all

excuse me but the drill on the front of their vehicle is quite small compared to the body. this is a silly question, but how does the entire vehicle fit through the much smaller hole the drill makes. just askin. this is a pretty hokey movie. i am glad my name does not appear in the credits.
