Yo thanks I'm subbing your the only person who actaully taught me how to properly do it showed how to do it as well which helped me a lot more thanks dude
Thanks for the video. There's so many combo videos that don't explain this and it's insane the game doesn't emphasize the importance of this. This is how you take knowledge and go out and experiment and create new stuff.
Trying to get better at DBFZ and I’ve been getting served up by people doing this combo...Thanks for explaining, I have a feeling this will improve my game considerably.
I favorited this video, because you have no idea how much I struggled to understand this concept and no other video out there would explain this. Now I gotta work on my reaction times with that jump cancel because timing seems to be very strict.
For any body that's new and is having trouble go from the light to medium punch in the air. While doing the combo instead of pressing ◼,🔺 the jump cancel to repeat.. Just press ◼,◼ the auto combo will automatically do the light and medium then just jump cancel when you see the animation for the kick
Yep, the auto combo works as well. So thats j.5L>j.5L instead of j.5L>j.5M. I tend to use L then M simply because I use Frieza so much that I want to make sure I don't accidentally tap L again and miss a hit of his j.5M
Twin Juice and GLHFtv can you put this into lamens terms for those that don't understand fighting game notation? Your saying one can do the auto combo instead of the second air light to medium?
Yes, and in fact you should. My next big video I'm working on is all about the viability of auto-combos as a part of your gameplay, but not as your main combos. When you use Light>Light in the air instead of Light>Medium, your character will move to track the opponent in a much more effective way (even though the moves you are performing are actually identical). It makes air combos much easier because you literally home in on the opponent.
this may be a godsend in terms of accessibility. Hoping Auto combos arent nerfed for this reason. If this works than even my hands will be able to access the advanced nuances of the game.
i got this game yesterday and now i know how to jump cancel lmao, bro, how can you not know for 1 year lol, but it's not your fault it's the game made to be that way, you don't neccessarily need to do the jump cancel combo because there are lots of other options which is just as or even more effective. seriously it's not that useful.
Thank you! I always feel like intro-level tutorials for fighting games are few and far between so I work to try to fill that void more than anything. I accept that I'll never be as good as top level players but I at the very least want to help people understand how these games work.
Ugh I can never get the jump cancel timing down.... the jumping diagonally via the D pad can feel clunky... the buttons are so close together. I can never get the second medium air to connect... so in essence. Down heavy super dash light heavy... jump cancel into light air (Where I fail) then medium air.
ya I'mma have to flick up jump real quick.. I wish there was another way to jump diagonally or backwards for accessibility reasons. Same thing with adding an instant air back dash. Namco could/should implement these for gamers like myself with disabilities.
Holy Fuck i did it. I could always do the first jump cancel and use my combos/BnB after that but id always wonder how everyone could do the second jump cancel when I finally realized.... That I have to do the exact same thing.. I dont know why my brain never thought of that. So instead of 5m 2m jL,L then 2h (which you do at the beginning), For the second jump cancel you do a 5LL, 2H, then JLL then whatever air combos you normally do after that. I'm such an idiot but i finally figured it out lmao
The hardest part about jump cancelling is probably landing on the ground. These characters are so floaty and there’s a lot of ways the opponent can break out of a combo and react back. Aerial combat is probably the most risky + most rewarding part of the game!
Can someone explain to me why sometimes when I do a jump cancel following 2M, M, j to continue in the air that sometimes it doesn't go high enough? For example I can't always get Frieza's second tail hit in the air because I fall out of it, or t.Gohans S into 2S. What am I doing wrong? Its Super inconsistent.
Arigato! iv i lost a setp while learning other characters besides vegeta. people have vids saying to press up up to go into jump cance, now i lnow it not the case. it was very confusing.
Absolutely, but having the lights at the start certainly helps. If you keep trying to start with the down medium as a counter to pressure mid-match you'll find yourself eating combos that start with lights quite often.
What I don't understand is how people do heavy attacks midair after the first dash and they can still continue with the combo every time when I try to do it my enemy is getting blown away from the heavy attack and I can't get closer in time to keep hitting him does somebody know how can I do that?
GLHFtv after you do a heavy attack midair for the first time in your combo you can dash towards your opponent and continue the combo and after that you can do another down heavy attack and continue the combo even further without dashing towards your opponent and my question is how to do that. I've seen multiple people do this down heavy thing a lot of times and I can't exactly understand how they do it
This is where using auto combos comes in. If you try to jump after the second down heavy and use L, M, the M is more than likely going to wiff. If you use L, L (Autocomboing L, M), you will actually track the opponent. Auto combos have a bit of "lock on" to them that moves you towards the opponent as you do them. Check out my "Auto Combos Are Useful" video, it goes into full detail about this.
I’m having that same problem too after my 2nd heavy attack. Everytime after 2nd heavy attack and hit light attack it always smacks them downward as a finisher. How many times do I press light attack to extent the combo in the air after 2nd heavy attack?
@@GLHFtv yoo I didn't know how to do the uppercut thing then I read the comments and realized it's his jump heavy now it works I did everything correctly untill that part but now I know thx man
Sure. Down▲, Standing▲, Jump Cancel, Jumping▲, JumpingX(3 times), ▲+O, Jumping▲, Jumping █, Jumping▲, down-downforward-forward▲, Super. The way I notated above is known as "Numpad" notation and is the way you are going to find the vast majority of combos listed in this game. I made a video about it just a few days ago to explain, go check it out!
So this maybe be a dumb thing to say but I’m trying to jump cancel a down H in the air but I can’t seem to do it the combo I’m doing is down M standing M LM down H into a super charge LM down H and then I try to jump cancel if anyone could give some advice or tell me what I’m doing wrong that would be great and much appreciated
I hope you get a chance to read this...for the 2nd j2H in the air, to cancel into that you just need to autocombo in the air....LLL in the air will auto adjust your height to your opponents while they're in the air...I usually do this as the ender though, only after the 2nd j2H because if you do it early it will send the opponent back down with a regular heavy attack. LLL in the air simulates light medium heavy, automatically
GLHFtv yeh when I got this game I played for 3 hours so I know a lot of causal combos and some elite combos. I still have a lot to learn but I got vegeta ssj and ssb, goku ssj, beerus, Frieza, and android 21 down pact
So noob question here and maybe I'm just missing something super obvious but what's the difference between a jump cancel and just jumping toward the opponent?
A jump cancel means you are going from an attack directly into a jump. You're "canceling" the animation of the attack on the ground directly into your jump.
Thanks. Appreciate the reply and help. I do have one more question lol in Goku's b&b combo there are some late mediums, so is a late medium literally just a medium used a small portion later than it normally would?
I cant only one thing not. After you do 2H than follow up und do the same again you can attack after that again before you punch your enemy down like you See in every Highrank Fight or so. But after the second 2H I cant never connect any attacks
I understand the frustration, but the notation of moves like "5M" or "236H" is done that way to avoid confusion across multiple consoles with different buttons for inputs. I have a guide about just this, Input Notations, which you can find here on the channel.

matt manley try using the stick for jump cancelling, much to point the stick diagonally up forward than pressing both up forward on the d pad
matt manley attack and medium at the same time
Thanks I'll give it a try. How fast after flicking the stick to jump must I hit light air into medium air? I'd imagine blistering fast.
I found out something interesting today. You can actually us LL, jump cancel, LL. You don’t need to link to medium.

Is it possible to start this combo just from the down medium bit as opposed to the light punch bit?
Absolutely, but having the lights at the start certainly helps. If you keep trying to start with the down medium as a counter to pressure mid-match you'll find yourself eating combos that start with lights quite often.

That is Goku's j.2H, or his jumping heavy attack while pressing down. Not every character has a kick like this, but a lot of them do.

If you are referring to special moves that cause your character to go airborne, you typically can not jump a second time out of them.

I've found a slightly better version of it since I recorded this. 2M>5M>JC>j.5M>j.5SSS xx Vanish, SD>j.5M>JC>j.5L>j.5M xx 236S xx Super
