The most important thing, with Newt's first scene and Ripley learning about her daughter, is that you feel the mother-daughter relationship between the two more.

There may be more but that’s what I know.

Best reaction I’ve seen from someone that already saw the newer movies. 1. And they lived happily ever after, and there was NEVER an Alien 3 or 4. 2. The Queen hid in the landing gear on the ship. If you look back, The original Alien was alive and screaming in open space. And so was the Alien Queen. It leads us to believe that Xenomorph may not respirate the same as humans.
Here is just a little story on what happen to Newts brother , it was told in a Alien audiobook that tells the story of what happen before Ripley and the marines got there . The aliens attacked the colony and Newt was the only one who was small enough to fit in those tight vents where the aliens could not fit . While the fight was going on an alien was going for Newts mother but her brother grabbed a gun from a dead person shot and killed the alien but the acid blood melted his face and killed him in the process . The little guy went down fighting while protecting his mother and even got to kill a xenomorph but sadly everyone got killed or taken by the aliens except for Newt who was still hiding in that little spot . The audio book was amazing , there is even a audio book on what happen to Ripley before she was found in this second movie .
That book with Ripley waking up before she was found and then forgetting was ridiculous! The aliens having some sort of memory of Ripley on a genetic level was one of the worst things to come from a book. Almost as much of a stinker as colonial marines lol. They just got to leave the movie characters alone and focus on original ones.
one of the best things about this is that the majority of the marines are actually competent and not making stupid mistakes(they make mistakes like the pilots landing on the planet instead of hovering or returning to the ship but they are reasonable mistakes and have logical reasons to make them like saving fuel and staying close enough to arrive quickly in case of emergency).

I'd defintely choose the Predator. Cuz I'd just hide, since Predators won't kill you if it's not a challenge (They're prize hunters, and I'm deffinitely no prize. lol). Fun fact: The picture of Ellen's daughter, was an age-progression image of Sigorny Weaver as a 66-year-old (Age-progression software was just starting to come into it's own at the time.). Carrie Henn was an underclassman to my brother--she was a year younger--but I remember my brother talking about her when the movie came out (I was in high school at the time.). I remember an interview about her, the reason she got the part wasn't just because of her acting skills, but that she also had the best scream.
Idk of this has been stated or you said something not in the reaction is when cutting the space ship door open the harpoon gun is still stuck underneath it which I did not catch for years before catching that is a great throwback to the 1st.
Love this movie! One of my all time favs! I saw it in theaters with my dad at release, i was 9 years old! Scared the shit outta us! My dad was even covering his face in the theater! lol!
Things cut from the theatrical release that I can remember (because I only watch the Special Edition anymore and it's been years): Anything related to the colony before the marines land there -- so Newt is not introduced until they find her. Half of Ripley's conversation with Burke when she is having the nightmare, also some of the footage of her trying to live her life after the hearing. The reveal that her daughter has died of old age (or at least the scene was cut down severely). The gun turrets scene. The "who is laying the eggs?" scene. Some old VHS releases had the scene with Ripley's daughter's death added back in (it was on the copy I grew up with), but as far as I know it wasn't in the theatrical version and wasn't on some editions I have seen SINCE that are labeled as the theatrical version. There may have been one or two other moments from the cut scenes restored in that version but the daughter-scene was the one I recalled.
The one scene that in this edition that I prefer to the version I saw in '79 introduces Ripley's status as a mother, supporting the bond she forms with Rebecca/Newt.
I actually met Carrie Henn (NEWT) last year at a convention; days before Halloween. Wish I could share a picture. Got her autograph on my Aliens DVD I was amazed that Bishop remained useful after ripped in half, unlike a certain gold droid in Empire Strikes Back. The actor who played him didn’t know how to read until he was 30 years old! Also, I was ecstatic when the movie was mentioned in an Avengers film and the basis for a rescue plan! They even did a camera shot that was reminiscent of it. Glad you had watched the Special Edition of Aliens. Do NOT bother with the remaining sequels. HUGE disappointments. Normally don’t bother with audio commentaries but I enjoyed the one with the director and cast
Both are great movies. The first is using a higher-grade film stock and is an example of a very sophisticated sci-fi horror film. The second is a really great sci-fi action film that no one's even come close to duplicating. Aliens owes a lot more to Alien than just the creature. If you compare plot points between the two films there are scads of them.
Things added compared to the theatrical version: - The sequence in the "forest" recreational room, where we learn about Ripleys daughter. Ripley being a parent is not mentioned in the first movie, and neither in the theatrical version - Van Lewens conclusion or decision at the meeting, where we learn than Ripleys flight license is recalled indefinitely and that she has to see a shrink - The whole sequence on LV426, leading up to the discovery of the aliens (the control center conversation and the family in the buggy) - Hudson bragging and being a dork on the drop towards the planet - both auto turret scenes. In the theatrical they are briefly mentioned, but setting them up and seeing them in action as the aliens "attack" is not in the theatrical And then probably a bunch of scenes that are cut just a tiny bit differently. But as for the major differences, the above list is just about it.
"Aliens": Third Officer Ripley has been found and taken to Gateway station with a Xenomorph-size case of PTSD. What will the Weyland-Yutani Suits make of her blowing up the "Nostromo"? I had a question about Ripley that led me to buy the 1990 Special Edition Laserdisc(!), which added Pathos and telling details to this amazing tale. I recall reading that Sigpourney Weaver said that "Aliens" was about guns; I always though it was about Family. 8:28 That's UK actor Mark Rolston, as "Pvt. Drake," SmartGun operator. You might remember him as "Boggs Diamond" in the "Shawshank Redemption." (1994). 8:37 Michael Biehn, as "Corporal Dwayne Hicks," who was "Tech. Sgt. Kyle Reese" in "The Terminator" (1984). 9:18 Actor/Bodybuilder Jenette Goldstein speaks Spanish like an Angeleno, and thought that "Aliens" was going to be about La Raza. 10:25 This is another "Bug Hunt," but THEY as the bugs! 11:53 Ripley shows Apone and Hicks that she isn't a front office paper shuffler like Burke, but is a working class dog like themselves. 19:25 In 1986, I noticed that Ripley was able to "get close, quickly" to Rebecca, unlike the female Colonial Marines. A reviewer at the time said: "Sisterhood!" When I bought the 1990 SE Laserdisc, I confirmed that Ripley had been a parent. Without "Alien," there wouldn't be a sequel. This is where it should have ended, but sequelitis is a dread Hollyweird disease...
After watching Newts Tale on RUclips, I learned a lot about what happened before Ripely, and the soldiers arrived to help out. But I do wish Burkes death would have stayed in the movie too. His death in the comic book was perfect justice. But as always, the books have all the details, and the movies leave out.
Fun fact: The scene in the beginning, where on the Sularco the Marines were being briefed about the mission, it was filmed last so that the comradery between the Marines seemed real because the actors had been together doing the rest of the film.
Loved this movie my all time fav movie ever. Glad you watched the special edition to me it adds in more esp for Ripley and Newt but also for the autocannons lol
Fun fact: the atmosphere generator scenes were filmed in an abandoned power generator plant near London where James Cameron had previously filmed the ending (the steel mill) of "Terminator 2".
I really enjoyed watching this movie with you, Kidio ......The movie was way better than i remembered.....It's going to take a few more viewings so I can see all the cool things I've missed this go-around...Here's what i really wanted to tell you, The new Alien Romulus movie will be on sale, October the 15th....Sir, I hope one day to see you again watching good movies.
To answer a question from previously. As to where do the xenomorphs come from and where the eggs come from as well. There are a total of three ways for the eggs or the xenomorphs to be formed. One of the options is from Prometheus you would have to watch it I'm not going to spoil it for you then go into alien covenant for a full understanding as to the way how the xenomorph species was truly made. However the first movie as depicted if there's only one single alien which in that one it was a drone in its development to a warrior cast. In the development stage a drone would be required to build a small nest or work as a worker bee to form a hive. And because of the amount of victims in the first movie in some of the deleted scenes they take passed away or even unconscious or even living victims to be used for biomatter to create Hive structures or even to help reproduce new eggs in a process that is called egg morphing. In this process a xenomorph a can be burst from organic or synthetic tissue. All it requires is a little bit of Hive matter because the hive itself is alive it's essentially a bio symbiosis that can help regenerate xenomorphs or even store xenomorph DNA. At the beginning stages of this colony as a depicted in The at the beginning stages of this colony as a depicted in the books in the comic the xenoverse quickly growing due to the beginning infestation to a beginning total of 14 xenomorphs however a majority of the hosts were taken care of. All but 5 or 7 xenomorphs were loose in colonists started going missing. In the state if multiple xenomorphs are in area of infestation typically the oldest xenomorphs will start to molt into a praetorian state which is a pure female meaning the beginning stages of a queen. A queen can easily be produced in a matter of a day or so depending on seeing what DNA and from its hosts. From animals and creatures and also humans themselves or other species does Dean wars can take on the attribute and difficulties from all of its victims. For valid example I'm metabolism can help speed up growth of a xenomorph horde in a matter of a day or a mere week outbreaks can easily spread quickly over basically unlivable. In the process when a queen is developed an egg sac is formed depicted in this movie however as I stated there are three ways but there is a fourth and that requires genetic mutation of cloning but that can result in hybrid creations or even impure xenomorphs. The true xenomorphs will produce new eggs from passed away victims and uses biomatter to continue their growth of nests hives dens and so forth. Ball producing additional eggs with the addition of a xenomorph Queen.
I think people are coming around to the idea that The Terminator is the better film when compared to T2. I enjoyed T2 as a kid but it's a very popcorn, blockbuster kind of film and losing Arnold as a relentless cyborg killing machine is a negative. Robert Patrick was obviously great as the T-1000.
alien = something not of this world xenomorph = stranger or foreigner with a strange form/ body so if you think about it they mean the same thing. ripley just lost her daughter...so finding Newt was both a blessing and a curse...it gave a sense of immense motherly protection for Newt...that helped her get through...but it also could have misguided her.
It's a solid Alien movie on its own but as a continuation from Aliens it's such a freakin letdown. Still has a lot of great moments and the alien design is sick.
Love the sequel. As a kid I believe I saw Aliens before Alien. I wasn’t born when the first one was released, so this one hold a special place in heart. 🦾🔥
I can't tell you how long it was after this movie before I could stand watching Paul reiser in anything else I loathed him for this role lol I guess he did a good job
After playing good guys in TV and movies, I didn't view Paul Reiser as a bad guy from his "Aliens" role. After all, good guys roles are dull; villains are much more interesting to play.;)
It's great that you decided to watch the Special Edition. It is really the only way to watch this science-fiction masterpiece. To me, Aliens is possibly the greatest sequel and the greatest sci-fi film ever made. Sigourney Weaver shouldve won Best Actress. Her Ellen Ripley is right up there with Sarah Connor and Scarlett O'Hara as one of the greatest, strongest, most iconic female roles in movie history. After Aliens, there are no more movies with Ellen Ripley worth watching. If you cared about the characters of Newt and Hicks, avoid the next movie, Alien 3 at all cost.
14:30 The special edition was the original version Cameron wrote and filmed, before he chopped a few scenes to make the runtime shorter for theaters. And broke it a bit. Then he restored those deleted scenes, and now this version is canon.
I disagree. The extended Special Edition drags the movie too much and showing the planet before the marines' arrival ruins that narrative of focusing entirely on Ripley and the mission. Also, it's too convenient that it all began with Newt's family.
@@miller-joel There is no such thing as a "wrong" opinion. And yes, in addition to everything I said, you don't need things like Ripley coming to a dead stop to exchange first names with Hicks. Or maybe you need that sappy stuff.
@@FervAnimalLover The exchange of names is the ONLY thing I would delete or move somewhere else. And it's only 5 seconds long. You're still wrong about the rest, because you state your opinion as fact.
For four hours I’d choose the predator. The alien would hunt regardless, but with a predator, drop your weapons, become “unworthy prey” and have a coffee with the dude.
Thank you for doing this reaction. I hope that you'll react to the rest of the Alien series. They might not be as great as the first two, but they'll give you more lore.
See, this movie teaches you about things. For example, I considered myself a pacifist, violence is the last resort, etc. I still do, but with a modification: I would happily airlock Burke without a second of hesitation.
So knew you'd like this movie,.it's a faster pace than the first,..so yeah action/horror, fantastically done,..theater was packed when we went to see it,..and when the queen was revealed, stone cold quiet, nobody coughed, nobody sneezed,.and only breathing you could hear was the queen, all that heavy breathing, I guess cause she was continuously laying eggs, took a lot out of her, yess and so gross, nasty, nasty,..but we were all in shock, she's so enormous, thats was you know the hook,..like when Ghidorah is first revealed, the ancipation of what it will look like, and when this movie we kinda figured there'd be more than one alien, hence the title, but no idea an enormous queen would be in it,..and yeah darlin, you counted Vasquez out, way too soon,..girl is a boss, she held it down,..helped others escaped, while they're escaping she's fending off a horde of aliens,..that scene where she tells Hicks to go,..like,..I got this,..totally badass,..Ferro too, the pilot, she went down swinging though, going for her gun, alien just got the jump on her,..if she'd had the chance she would've filled it full of lead,..and of course Ripley, and Newt, Newt held it down, with no adults, just her wits as s child,..can you believe that,..the smarts she had as a child,..and I think maybe for more than 2 weeks,..think in that scene where the colonists are still alive, and think, I don't know, facility manager is talking to the other guy, he says something about it taking 2 weeks to get a message back to Earth, or maybe that space station orbiting Earth,..and Burke said they lost contact with the colonists, how long did it take after not hearing from them, for them to realize something was wrong,..you know,..Hicks said it would take 17 days, for them to be considered in trouble, rescue,..thats over 2 weeks right there,..so Newt had a long wait for a rescue, such as it was,..and yess Hudson was the one talking smack,..how they had all these weapons, and would protect Ripley,..and look what happened,..he was the one constantly to whine, and fuss,..until like you said, he too went out a badass, swinging as he went,.truly enjoyed your reaction,..awesome,..Godspeed, Peace ✌
This was one of my mosther's favorite movies! This is by far my favorite move in the franchise. I think the first is overrated, but I am kind of on my own there. Three I like a lot. Most people don't I can understand why but it works for me. The prequels and the later ones are not good. Burke is such a hated character I have heard in the theater even the actor's mother cheered his death. If I was stuck in a mall like that I would just get everyone else to wear red shirts and I would wear blue...
What's a Sulaco you ask? Well, it's the name of their ship, the one that kinda looks lika a swiss army knife. Awesome movie, and a classic, although I don't quite understand why they cut the bit about Ripley's daughter from the theatrical version, without that scene, you never get to know if she really was adrift in space for 57 years, or if that was just part of the nightmare. And you also miss out on the cool gun turret scene. Anyhow, there is an Alien 3, but I really don't care for the beginning at all. And then there's Resurrection, in that one it's the ending that makes me go huh, wtf? Prometheus and Covenant are prequels to Alien, they are ok I guess, but a bit too complicated for their own good. I hope Romulus is good, but Hollywood tends to be a bit weird these days. I guess I'll just have to wait and see.
it's not the Aliens' home planet, either. the humans were NOT invading their turf. in this movie, humans and xenomorphs are alien to the planet on which this movie is set.
Love Aliens but ya I still prefer theatrical release.. 🤷♂️ I don’t remember all the differences but imo a more streamlined movie. 🍿 A3 AR P AC are all very good keep going! 👽
@@CrownlessKing88 Yeah, I haven't seen the theatrical version in forever. No reason to. That may be extra dialog in the special edition. What I do know is that Weaver was pissed off about those scenes being removed, which she considered essential to her character.

Carrie Henn was an underclassman to my brother--she was a year younger--but I remember my brother talking about her when the movie came out (I was in high school at the time.). I remember an interview about her, the reason she got the part wasn't just because of her acting skills, but that she also had the best scream.
The mall scenario? If the Predator doesn't have any weapons and his tech i'd choose the Predator. If he has all his toys i'd choose the Alien.
Bishop, like Samuels, was a good synthetic unlike Ash. Total nostalgia. Bishop was truly a good help.
Got her autograph on my Aliens DVD
I was amazed that Bishop remained useful after ripped in half, unlike a certain gold droid in Empire Strikes Back.
Do not bother with the remaining sequels.
You must be a flat earther.
Things added compared to the theatrical version:
- The sequence in the "forest" recreational room, where we learn about Ripleys daughter. Ripley being a parent is not mentioned in the first movie, and neither in the theatrical version
- Van Lewens conclusion or decision at the meeting, where we learn than Ripleys flight license is recalled indefinitely and that she has to see a shrink
- The whole sequence on LV426, leading up to the discovery of the aliens (the control center conversation and the family in the buggy)
- Hudson bragging and being a dork on the drop towards the planet
- both auto turret scenes. In the theatrical they are briefly mentioned, but setting them up and seeing them in action as the aliens "attack" is not in the theatrical
And then probably a bunch of scenes that are cut just a tiny bit differently.
Queen takes Bishop .😂
Loved this movie my all time fav movie ever. Glad you watched the special edition to me it adds in more esp for Ripley and Newt but also for the autocannons lol
Alien Abduction 2014, this movie was filmed from a kids camcorder.
I’d much rather have a Predator after me!
He would either make it a quick death, or not even bother with hunting such a non-threat lol
I have to laugh. From when I saw this movie when it was new, until now/Everybody forgets the cargo loaders!❤
Most film fans generally agree that Empire Strikes Back, Godfather II, T2, and ALIENS are the sequels that surpass their predecessors.
Aliens and Alien 3 are the best two! Alien Resurrection is tons of fun!
Watch the end credits an listen right to the end.
Remembering the Queen was on board just after laying eggssss ...you're then ready for Alien 3
That wasn't to set up Alien 3 though. Cameron himself said he didn't like the plot
Hand to hard combat with a big ass Queen alien. Excellent
alien = something not of this world
xenomorph = stranger or foreigner with a strange form/ body
so if you think about it they mean the same thing.
ripley just lost her daughter...so finding Newt was both a blessing and a curse...it gave a sense of immense motherly protection for Newt...that helped her get through...but it also could have misguided her.
Wonderful isn't it? And STOP there, no need to watch any more the Alien saga ends here.
Agreed. The franchise ends here for me. Every movie after this just degrades it.
The third film is underrated, whatever it says in the comments I’d recommend you watch it. The media knights did recently and they agreed with me ❤
Most fans don't agree. Neither does the director, David Fincher. He still hates it with a passion.
It continues the story...I have always liked this movie but I know it's not most fans' favorite.
@@pamnicklas5536 No, it doesn't. 3 starts with a huge retcon. And the entire movie depends on it. No retcon, no movie.
That BREAKS continuity.
Special Edition on it, for sure though. Greatly enjoy it.
It's a solid Alien movie on its own but as a continuation from Aliens it's such a freakin letdown. Still has a lot of great moments and the alien design is sick.
Nice reaction, good movie choice, really enjoyed it. Thanks!
Best movie... of all time. GOAT.
@@FervAnimalLover You can disagree all you want, but you're wrong. No one who watches the special edition first complains about it "dragging."
My Favourite Alien Sequel
For four hours I’d choose the predator. The alien would hunt regardless, but with a predator, drop your weapons, become “unworthy prey” and have a coffee with the dude.
Hicks is Michael Biehn, Reese in Terminator
Thank you for doing this reaction. I hope that you'll react to the rest of the Alien series. They might not be as great as the first two, but they'll give you more lore.
Soldiers can and will sleep at any time they can. Even on a combat drop
Awesome mid 80s action stuff.
The movie is much more than simply "80s action stuff"
@@FervAnimalLover Yeah it's an awesome one.
Xenomorph literally means alien/exotic form/shape. It doesn't necessarily refer to a particular species.
If you want to learn more about Ripley's daughter, you should play the game "Alien Isolation". It stars Amanda Ripley.
See, this movie teaches you about things. For example, I considered myself a pacifist, violence is the last resort, etc. I still do, but with a modification: I would happily airlock Burke without a second of hesitation.
Now you have to see the Aliens 3 to find out what happened to Newt. And the last one is Aliens Resurrection
What? Why? Why would anyone want to know what happens in Alien 3??
Ridley Is The Bomb!😢🫣🥰👾👽🤖🖥💕
If you're in the Army, you're a Soldier. In the Marines you're a Marine.
so many people argue over the terminology Marine is a soldier but not a Soldier(common vs proper noun).
Don't watch Alien3! Just let your memory of Ripley, Hicks, and Newt remain untainted. It retcons the ending of this movie in an unforgivable way!
41:00 my meme 2024
Good job 🐺👍🏼Oorah!
I am SOOO guilty of the Kiddo.. 😂 I use it as a term of endearment and to make old folks feel young. No malice intended. ❤
Oh this is a good one
He said look into my eye with the middle finger.
The special edition has 17 mins more footage. A bunch of scenes to flesh out the story or add a bit of sauce.
Classic movie
Love Aliens but ya I still prefer theatrical release.. 🤷♂️
I don’t remember all the differences but imo a more streamlined movie. 🍿
A3 AR P AC are all very good keep going! 👽
The androids/synthetics thru the series are named Alphabetically…kinda sorta
…A B C D W 🥚
I choose the Alien for 4 hours.. The Predator can totally snipe you when he sees the heat you give off.. 🤔
She never mentioned her daughter in the first movie. And if you didn’t watch the special edition, you wouldn’t have known still.
Ripley tells Newt she had a daughter.
@@miller-joel I actually don’t remember if that part of their conversation is in the theatrical version or not. But if it is, my bad.
@@CrownlessKing88 Yeah, I haven't seen the theatrical version in forever. No reason to. That may be extra dialog in the special edition.
What I do know is that Weaver was pissed off about those scenes being removed, which she considered essential to her character.
@@miller-joel yes! I remember that. She fought very hard to get those scenes to stay in.
If you like reading, read Alien River of Pain it's basically from Hadleys Hope what the colonists went through great book
Movies these days don't know how to build the tension needed for a real jumpscare.
Definitely sci-fi action
I do not know if anyone would agree with me, but I end the series with this one, and prefer not to watch Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection
Most fans agree with that.
Yes yes yes. 1000% agree.
37:35 Dude you can stop after this movie. You just ain’t ready for what comes next. 😢
I dont think she mentioned her daughter in the first one. We didnt learn anything about the crew
