    Hey Tim, no need to apologize about not knowing who the different artists are. We all come from different backgrounds and circumstances. I grew up poor, and was scrambling to find work and go to school and didnt have time or money to listen to or buy much music. The only album I had bought as a child was The Carpenters. I think your reaction to them is how I found you!! When I was 19 and a sophomore in college , I went music shopping with a couple of buddies and they were floored when I asked, if there was music on both sides of the album. How would a person know, if you had only bought one album and that was like 5 years earlier. So, we are all a work in progress,, I think back when I was 22 and what I knew and thought and compare now to what I know and think at age 62. Holy cow, what a difference, knowledge and experience make!! And a person never stops learning. I have learned from you how to not just listen to music, but also how to feel it and listen to the story. So, you have taught something to someone 40 years older. Its such a joy to see the joy you get out of listening to a great song. You are learning and growing along your life journey and we get to watch it happen. I never had children of my own, but I would be so proud if I had, had a couple of polite respectful kids like you and Fred. Of course I have a request, its from the rock band Fleetwood Mac... its called " Go your own way" the best version of the live version is from the Dance Tour of 97. I selected this song because I know you like guitars, drums and great vocals. Keep being your charming selves, dont change a thing. 'WE OUT"

She's credited with discovering Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5 and Stevie Wonder (even though she didn't), she's also Traci Ellis Ross' mother (Blackish), and was involved with Barry Gordy, the founder of Motown, and has a daughter with him. They should listen to Credence Clearwater sing the ORIGINAL Proud Mary. John Fogerty wrote it and it was a huge hit for Credence. Tina does it in a completely different way, it's like it is two different songs. If you do not know, John Fogerty was the band leader of Credence. If you do not know, he has formed a new band (a lot of years ago) and they sound like Credence, and have records. I had the huge thrill of seeing them in concert a number of years ago; his son was playing with them. He still wears his trademark plaid shirt. I saw a You tube video of him playing with all his kids at their home. Do people know they were from Emeryville (right next to Oakland, California.) It is across the Bay from San Francisco, where I first saw them in 1969 when I was 19. Chuck Berry opened for them. Anyway they had a lot of folks fooled; we assumed they were from Louisiana (the Bayou that Hank Williams sang about) There is a biography of the band. Title: "Bad Moon Rising" which explains why the band broke up and was not heard of for years.

Humbling when I think this music is stuff I know like the back of my hand but there are many who never heard of most of this. Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah”. 100% necessary for you to experience. Truly a classic, in every sense of the word. Exquisite lyrics he took YEARS to perfect (he wrote 80 draft verses). It is consider the “baseline” for secular hymns. For me, however, it remains a spiritual experience every time I listen to it.

    • @thetorresons297
      @thetorresons297 3 года назад

      Ryn Dudley ~ I was THIS close to recommending the Buckley version. That’s the one that’s on my playlist, actually. But I feel like Cohen’s version, especially the “Hallelujah” chorus and callback with the female back-up singer (who’s name I cannot find!) should be the one the boys start with, and then move on to Jeff’s rendition. Buckley was a genius, and his voice makes me cry, but Cohen was a god.

    • @ryndudley2242
      @ryndudley2242 3 года назад

      The Torresons he was and Suzanne or So Long, Marianne would be amazing but I think starting with his Hallelujah can put people off. I know it has for a lot of people because the Jeff Buckley arrangement is the familiar one, though he does it best. People don’t love it and it deserves to be loved. I quite like K.D. Lang’s version too, incredible song

    Diana Ross, born in my hometown Detroit, Motown, lead singer of the Supremes, great solo career, great credits acting.
    Lady Sings the Blues
    The Wiz
    Mahogany
    She opened so many doors!!!
    She still sounds great in her 70’s!

      Yep, the woman who plays the anesthesiologist. But Diana Ross had a great voice. And though the backup singers generally did a a few choreographed movements behind the mic, they weren't required to dance like they sorta are today. Other great Disna Ross songs, "Stop in the Name of Love," "Love Child," and "Someday, We'll Be Together." In general, live performances aren't as musically polished as studio performances. Not that they aren't valuable and not that the artist doesnt sometimes go way beyond the album, but the way albums are recorded allows producers to mix the best sounds from several different takes. 💜

      So many people came to know Tracee as "Diana's daughter," my kids are coming to know Diana as "Rainbow's mom!" 😁

    YOU HAVE TO DO "LOVE HANGOVER" AND "UPSIDE DOWN" BY Diana Ross!!!!!!

    • @kokolena3397

      Aretha H I’m sure they’ve heard worse...the music nowadays gets into explicit details about that subject....they might even yawn lol

    • @kokolena3397
      @kokolena3397 3 года назад

      There’s nothing wrong with them seeing how “sensual” is done in a classy way that doesn’t require profanity or overtly explicit lyrics....back in the day, some things were done w tact which is good for them to see...plus I’ve seen them react to worse...like Salt n Pepa’s “Shoop”...and they dealt with it just fine...like gentlemen

    • @kokolena3397

      Aretha H with all due respect, I’ve listened to Love Hangover a million times and it hasn’t stimulated me to go actually get a Love Hangover...to be honest, I didn’t know what the lyrics were really about until I was in my 20’s...sometimes songs are just nice for the melody too and I know many people who have listened to music that didn’t realize what the song was actually about until several years later...and regardless, just because the song is sensual, it doesn’t necessarily mean it is going to have such a powerful impact that they are going to be stimulated in an uncontrollable manner...it’s just music...but that is just my opinion

    • @kokolena3397
      @kokolena3397 3 года назад

      I apologize then...obviously I had no clue you were a family member...I'm just an audience member that enjoys them because I believe they are very respectful and I'm sure you are proud of them for that...and music no matter what era it comes from usually does express sensual emotions which are part of human nature...I just thought that seeing how it was done in a classier way in comparison to how it is done now would be interesting and a learning experience...didn't mean to offend! I was just sharing my opinion as an audience member...and I don't believe that Love Hangover is that risqué sorry
