  • As part of Disneyland's 60th anniversary, the park will debut a new version of the Disneyland Band in July, that features choreography and more guest interaction. Because of this, the members of the original Disneyland Band, which had never been recast in the park's 60 year history until this year, had to re-audition for their roles and many chose not to or did not make the cut.
The band's June 15, 2015 performances marked the final performances of the Disneyland Band with all of its current members. The current line-up will continue performing through July 15, 2015 but with noticeable absences after June 15.

LOVED the Disneyland Band. So sad to see 60 years of tradition gone.

Some good and bad came with the 60th Diamond Celebration in Disneyland this year. It's a real shame they all had to leave, but I'm sure they'll be moving on to 'bigger and better things'. Thank you Kurt, and every other band member who has ever entertained in Disneyland. :)

Goodbye Original DIsneyland Band... I'll miss you. I was glad that I got to see some of your performances over the years when I still worked at Disneyland and had come in when I was off and sometimes caught your performances... I still remember the day I was at Plaza Inn and got to give one of your members a cake for a birthday celebration... SOB!

First Billy Hill now the Disneyland Band! They just keep slapping Walt in the face! Not everything needs to be high impact and high energy, Sometimes its just nice to sit, relax and enjoy the slower things in life. I will miss the Original band. Hey Disney! some times its better to leave things alone. You should have left the band alone. What's next? How about addressing things that need addressing, like, I don't know? how about a stagnant Tomorrowland with people mover tracks that have been vacant for what, fifteen years now.

NEW IS NOT ALWAYS BETTER. WHY NOT NOT SHOW SOME CARING FOR WHAT WALT STARTED!?

Thanks so much for recording this performance. I wish I could have been there in person to see it. It's a real shame what's happening to the Disneyland Band.
I'm sure the new, smaller performances will probably be fun, but do they have to exist at the expense of an already fantastic experience?

They will be immensely missed. I just don't get why Disney had to change this. I hope the new band at least honors what the old band was for so many Disneyland guests.

The ORIGINAL and still the BEST Disneyland Band. Imitated but never duplicated.

Some bureaucrat in the Disneyland hierarchy has made a horrible mistake in disbanding its band. This group set a standard for musical excellence that will NEVER be matched. The replacement seems to be patterned after a drum corps inspired high school or college marching band. Anyone who wants to see and hear one of these kinds of ensembles can find one in just about every community in the country. The original Disneyland Band, however, had a unrivaled sound that was born out of the traditional American brass band ala Conway, Gilmore, Pryor, Fillmore and Sousa. For me, the allure of Disneyland has always been the top notch entertainment, specifically the superb music of the park's band.

What a shame...Walt is turning over in his grave. Vesey Walker was the first leader of this group. I remember playing at Disneyland as a high school band student and loved listening to the group in those days. Funny how Disney always shows huge profits, but eliminates the sax ensemble, and all the other live performing groups. thanks for posting this...all now history.

This "traditional" band is a MUCH better fit with Walt's traditions and is so, SO much better than the new college style dancing one now! A place for everything ... and college is the place for the new style - Main Street is the place for the traditional! Please bring it back! :(

These players wouldn't "make the cut" for the new band because they're too old. Disney wants people under 25 years old for just about everything. Interesting to see what the new "cliques" will be. Too many good musicians who could play the music in their sleep never make it into any of the musical groups at Disneyland.
