Everything Drew Sarich touches is GOLD. I love this man's voice soooo much. His Hercules makes me cry, his Ursula was *chefs kiss*, and his Seymour still in Ursula drag fills my heart with so much joy. Such a treasure
I would feel Honored to be in that audience, as this magical confluence of energies and brilliance came together to be presented. There are notable faces within the audience that seem like they are uncomfortable, or just there because their rich family demanded they be at their seat. Sad, truly. The elites of the planet are quite afraid of the Power of Human Love.
Alan Menken has often said that he thinks Hunchback was his best composition he's ever written, and hearing the suite preformed here I have to agree. Nearly every song he's written is amazing, but the complexity and beauty of Hunchback is just something special. Also Drew KILLED it as Ursla
I was lucky enough to be there both nights and can honestly say they were some of the most emotionally exhausting nights of my life. To hear the soundtrack to your childhood performed live by such amazing musicians and artists is incredibly special. Thank you Mr. Menken. And thank for uploading!!
I can relate. I need to keep Kleenex nearby when I'm doing serious listening whether it's live or online. Thank goodness to my musician friends, I have a neverending supply ~
Hi, I might have missed it somewhere, but maybe you know it. Who was conducting, please? You might have great musicians, a great choir and the greatest singers and they might still flounder if there isn't a great captain and a great pilot to get the ship home. It must have been fantastic. Depending on what Christmas traditions you have (if you have any) I belated Merry Christmas or a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Yours, Ann
To end the concert with Suddenly Seymour was probably the best note to pay tribute both to Alan Menken's journey in music as well Howard Ashman's. Little Shop of Horrors opened both of them the gates to what would be a partnership of reviving Disney by adding their charms and talents for generations to come. Their works will always be hand by hand, despite Howard no longer writing his lyrics along side with Alan's melodies. Disney legends forever.
Even though Pocahontas is a bit bland and not great animation, "Colours of the Wind" probably takes top spot 1 in a packed field of memorable Disney songs. It's quite haunting really, no matter who sings it.
The choir in the Notre Dame's medley. No words. This was an incredible concerto. I'll always be grateful to Mr. Menken for the wonderful music he created
Agreed. It's always been one of my favorite Disney soundtracks. I'm going to show my age, but I have the CD, and I must have played that thing hundreds of time. I know all of those songs so well. And I must say, they really did it justice and then some.
Man, if they’d gotten Michael Bolton for I can go the distance… one of the best Disney performances ever, along with Elton John’s can you feel the love tonight. But regardless, Drew Sarich should’ve done Michael’s full version, even if he couldn’t do it as well.

I feel this is the best Disney concert I've ever heard, the track selection is fantastic, the arrangements were done with excellent taste, it's so beautifully performed it's as good as the original material. On top of this the light work on stage was astonishing. Goosebumps !
arrengements done with excellent taste? These are all the original scores! I have every soundtrack and I know them in every single note and every single instrument and...it was all live here exactely as in the recorded versions...I am...don't have a word to express what I am!!! What I'd give to come back in time and know about this event and buy a ticket! We all need a concert like this for every Disney movie!!!! Do it please!!!! Too many songs missing and we claim them!!!! PS: don't understand why thay didn't do "I won't say I'm in love" from Hercules...there was the original singer and very good muses!!!
I knew I recognized her name. She also did the dub for Spirited Away. Wow she has aged so gracefully! That voice is unmistakably unique and beautiful, forever.
Since nobody is talking about Eleanor Grant ( Part of your world’s singer ) I’m gonna go ahead : she absolutely killed it. Her high notes were so flawless and angelic and she incorporated the talking voice so adorably. Congrats on her
Absolutely! It’s so lovely to see a singer who feels the music too. I myself cry to part of your world (especially the ending with the choir) probably because it reminds me of the happy childhood memories I have. This girl couldn’t not contain her emotions either and it was so pure 👏🏼
Obviously had to look her up after this, and it seems beside that voice, she also plays bass guitar and double bass, studies at the Royal Academy of Music and has a drama scholarship with several roles. Just throw in dancing why don't you? :p
Just teared up hearing 'Colors of the Wind' followed by one of the most beautiful scores ever which is 'Farewell' from Pocahontas. If my time comes I want that song to be the music that plays when all the people I love will have to say their last farewells.
Seen Alan Menken in tears is so emotional . Specially I can imagine he remembers his friend Howard Ashman rip . That’s the way we should honored our musicians and artist . The cast : extraordinary good ! Congrats
I can't believe people downright skip Hunchback of Notre Dame's suite! D: It's one of the most epic, if not THE most epic soundtrack of all Disney movies!
Me neither, especially since this Orchestral Suite was specifically arranged for this concert and has never be performed before which made it a very very unique experience!
One of my favorite suites indeed. No wonder since by Alan Menken himself, HoND is his best work, though it's a pity they didn't sung Out There or God Help the Outcasts.
Alan's face at 1:18:00 during "proud of your boy" killed me. I cried with him so hard 😭 He has to be PROUD of his works for real. He's a genius of music, he's a LEGEND. He deserves all the best awards. THANK YOU ALAN MENKEN. Your music will remain in our hearts forever ❤️
OMG! The suite for The Hunchback of Notre Dame was EPIC (though I wish they would had sung "Out There" and "God Help the Outcasts"), so far my fav suite of the film's soundtrack so far. Also I totally teared up at The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast. Thanks for my childhood, Alan Menken.
Interesting how the concert had Drew Sarich in it, but didn't sing anything from Hunchback of Notre Dame considering he portrayed Quasimodo in the 1999 Berlin production
1:03:01 Alan Menken is a GENIUS!!! It's hard to believe that he composed this WONDERFULLY HAPPY and COOL song watching a steel band on a cruise ship 🚢 Thanks God he never became a dentist (as all his family ascendents)
Disney concerts are usually pretty good (around 7/10-8/10) but they really knocked this one out of the park. Even being in the orchestra this concert was emotionally exhausting. i grew up with these songs & was even tearing up as i played. The lucky people who were in the audience will never forget this night. I work with Alan at Disney & it is a absolute honour to do so. No one deserves that award more than he does. Congrats my friend. We will catch up once i get back from Australia.
Which instrument did you play in this fantastic orchestra? Can you tell if it was difficult to play the scores? Did the melodies flash you back to your childhood as they did to me?
I played drums. I was emotionally exhausted by the end of the concert. I grew up with these songs as a child (In Australia) & remember going to the cinema to watch the Little Shop Of Horrors. When the piano started to play the intro to Suddenly Seymour tears just started to flow. This will probably sound silly but hearing the music resonated with me & it was like being launched back to the 1970-1980's & reliving my childhood again. It's incredible that a generally cult figure show can still bring people & their memories together after 40 years. I am employed by Disney to play in their major motion pictures & Alan's music is beautiful. We were lucky to have a very good bunch of musicians in the orchestra that night.@@moow950
Eleanor Grant embraced Ariel so majestically. She’s magical. Made me emotional, especially towards the crescendo of the song. And when the orchestra starts playing the “Happy Ending” song, and she starts getting emotional… 😭❤

I wonder how Adam Jacob, who is the original Broadway Aladdin , felt singing and hearing Aladdin soundtrack but on a whole new level - Alan freakin’ Menken watching!! Amazing!!
While watching the Colors of the Wind performance and the camera was zoomed in on her while belting, I said "She looks Filipino" then looked at her name and said "That seems like a Filipino surname" and now discovered she is Filipino! It sometimes blows my mind how finally we're having our own people's talents get put out there. Kudos to her nailing every song!
And Adam Jacobs who she sang with aladdin's a whole new world has a Filipino mom. Incidentally Adam is also the original aladdin in the broadway .musical.
You must not be paying attention then. The singer for Mulan and Jasmine in the original films is Filipino. There are lots of famous Filipino entertainers.
@@supitskyle7832 Actually saw those movies when I was very young, so yeah I know Lea Salonga is Filipino. What I meant was that I don't see much of us Filipinos being showcased in such an amazing stage. Hence my comment that it's refreshing to see some get opportunities like these.
31:57 - 40:27 Here it is... The medley we didn't know we needed. Let's see: - 31:57 The bells of Notre Dame - 32:46 Paris burning - 33:36 Sanctuary - 38:42 Into the Sunlight - 40:03 The bells of Notre Dame (Finale)
It sad they don't bring: Heaven Light/Hell Fire God help the outcast The Bell of Notre-Dame Out There so many good songs got missed from The Hunchback of Notre-Dame
Alan Menken, what a musical genius! Watching him be so emotional when Adam Jacobs was singing “proud of your boy” made me cry. That’s already my favorite Disney song, but geez, even more emotional watching him shed a tear!!
Man! Two stood out moments for me here! The entire hercules medley was such a joy, all of them looked like they were having soooo much fun! And the Drew Ursula *fingers kiss*!
I cant imagine the effort they put into the Hercules soundtrack during their rehearsals, they did such a magnificient job, unbelievable talent and synchro
Without belittling the excellent voices of all the performers - what an insanely complex, lengthy and responsible creative work of the entire orchestra, chorus and conductor is! Bravo to everyone who took part in the performance! Bravo charming strings! especially violins, the love of my life!
SUPER glad they chose to do the reprise of "Go the Distance". the final chorus at 26:11 is one of my absolute favorite Alan Menken compositions and this performer just nailed it. bravo!
I loved the drummer on the left during under the sea, clearly just enjoying himself and not just pretending to. A great music is always both nice to hear and play 😄 I always thought this musical number was too short as a kid haha
Oh my god! I'm searching years for something like this..and finally! Thank you Alan Menken for putting soundtracks on our lives as we were growing older!

Guys, am I the only one who has already seen this whole thing like 8 times? 😅
Alan Menken is the hart & soul of my childhood. Thank you for composing all these songs, you rock! Because of you & Walt Disney is what makes me a devouted Disney fan, Alan I love you.
OH MY GOD. I'm speachless. I'm 36 and I definitely CRIED in every song, duet, soundtrack...there's all my childhood in this concerto. Words cannot describe how damn much I loved this (Amazing singers!!!) and how deeply I'm in love with Disney. Thank you Alan Menken for everything ❤ This music is part of my life. CHILLS from the beginning to the end. Spectacular! PS, Christine Allado, what a wonderful human and voice!!!! 😍And Eleanor Grant as Ariel..ahhh! ❤
that upwards crescendo into the final art piece of an ending in Colours of the Wind, is one of the most beautiful musical experiences i have ever experienced. It is my absolute favourite part of the song, and has been made to sound even more beautiful by this amazing orchestra!
How am I only just now seeing this??? So amazing listening to Menken’s music, so many classics that I hope will always be beloved by people for years and years to come! I could picture so many scenes that these songs went with, and it was neat seeing the singers do their own takes on the lyrics and rhythm of some of them! And as a HUGE Beauty and the Beast fan, I’m so happy they did all the songs they did from both the animated and live-action versions! From the Overture, to Be Our Guest, to Something There, the suite, and How Does a Moment Last Forever, it was all wonderful, and the orchestra and singers deserve all the praise!
1:10 Intro Overture 3:34 Be Our Guest 5:41 See The Light 13:29 Arabian Nights 15:20 Friend Like Me 18:05 A Whole New World 21:12 Prince Ali 24:13 Go The Distance 27:10 Hercules Medley 31:55 Hunchback Medley 40:40 Home on the Range 44:01 Pocahontas 58:30 The Little Mermaid 1:06:45 Beauty and the Beast Then some other ones
It just shows how beautiful and equally emotive music can be cross time, space, language difference and changing context. So lovely to see the crowd enjoy such beloved Disney themes.
I am so thankful I can watch this for free on RUclips despite not being able to fly to Venice to see it in person. Thank you Mr Menken for sharing your incredible talent with us all. What wonderful musicians. Truly your song lives on.
This concert is EVERYTHING. I’ve had goosebumps all throughout. The nostalgia is real. The orchestra is perfection. They did such an amazing job in recreating the music faithful to the original ❤
This gave me chills, especially the Little Mermaid and Beauty and Beast segments Breathtakingly beautiful! Alan Menken and his late songwriting partner Howard Ashman were staples of my childhood. ❤️
Absolutely gorgeous and heart-touching performance. Color of the Wind is one of the most beautiful songs ever written; performed to perfection; however, then comes Eleanor Grant with the voice of an angel. 😊There are just no words!😌
I was there too! the best concert I've ever watched, I am a big fan of Alan Menken and Disney, still don't believe I saw this live!! The gala was a 3 hours show! Amazing!
My favorite : Drew Sarich (beautiful energy) , Christine Allado (perfect diction), Adam Jacobs (magnificent tessitura) Beautiful, so beautiful musics, songs and singers ! J'aime revoir ce concert, il est très beau et de magnifiques duos.

@@DanKeeleyMusic”Out there” is severely underrated. It is so so beautiful! I was hoping to get to hear it sung as well
Hunchback was clearly the pinnacle of Menken's work!
The music from The Hunchback is one of the biggest reasons why it's my third favourite Disney movie (#2 Lion King, #1 Beauty and the Beast)
Drew Sarich captured the essence of Ursula. Incredibly talented and versatile singer, actor, and artist. Bravo!!
I was blown away by his performance. Along with the singer who song Be my guest, they been both wonderful!

Truely good 👋🏾
That was so amazing!!!! His whole performance, not just the voice was ON POINT!
I can so see him as the perfect MC in Cabaret.
Crazy how I’m barely seeing any comments about the women who were the muses for Hercules. They did absolutely amazing.

Christine Allado legit made me cry with Colors of the Wind, her voice is so beautiful. She did this song so much justice!!!!!!
"For whether we are white or copper skinned" being sung by Christine in all her naturally tan/kayumanggi skin glory was epic.
She did great in the Prince of Egypt stage musical

Hunchback score is one of the finest out there (no pun intended lol)! Absolute banger and quite impossible to not get goosebumps everytime I hear it ❤
Drew Sarich was already so fantastic nailing Roger Bart’s Go the Distance. Then he decided to kill it in Poor Unfortunate Soul.
Yesss! Honestly we're lucky to witness that man!
Is Drew Sarich another Chester Bennington/John Podesta clone? They're popping up everywhere... and they're all little songbirds.
And Suddenly Seymour as well. Such a talent.
I was soo shocked at that transition between characters!
Im having to rewatch to go the distance now - i did NOT realise that was the same person ! GO MAKEUP.
Alan Menken, what a musical genius! Watching him be so emotional when Adam Jacobs was singing “proud of your boy” made me cry. That’s already my favorite Disney song, but geez, even more emotional watching him shed a tear!!
Where is proud of your boy? I have not seen it yet!
@@hannahphoenix3299 1:18:00 - Proud Of Your Boy (Aladdin) - Adam Jacobs
despite knowing this concert was a celebration for Alan Menken, i honestly didnt expect the Home on the Range section but im so so so glad they did it
Man! Two stood out moments for me here! The entire hercules medley was such a joy, all of them looked like they were having soooo much fun! And the Drew Ursula *fingers kiss*!
my most favorite concert of disney because they sang the original tune and version. reminds me of my childhood so much
I like how the conductor glanced back with a "wow" at the end to Drew.
I cant imagine the effort they put into the Hercules soundtrack during their rehearsals, they did such a magnificient job, unbelievable talent and synchro
Alan totally deserves this honor! He’s a god when it comes to Disney music
Without belittling the excellent voices of all the performers - what an insanely complex, lengthy and responsible creative work of the entire orchestra, chorus and conductor is! Bravo to everyone who took part in the performance! Bravo charming strings! especially violins, the love of my life!
What an incredible legacy Alan Menken has left behind for us all to enjoy. He really is the magic of Disney.
I immediately cried. God all these childhood memories. Wow! Bravo, can't even explain my emotions. Music really is art.
He deserves all the awards and recognitions of the world 🎉 he made a great soundtrack for all of our lives
SUPER glad they chose to do the reprise of "Go the Distance". the final chorus at 26:11 is one of my absolute favorite Alan Menken compositions and this performer just nailed it. bravo!
Shevers down my spine!
Amazing voices! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
His music is soo diverse, each and every second something new happens, melodies hardly repeat!
No copy-pasting in his composing! :)
I loved the drummer on the left during under the sea, clearly just enjoying himself and not just pretending to. A great music is always both nice to hear and play 😄 I always thought this musical number was too short as a kid haha
I cannot imagine my childhood without Disney
27:00 - Muses singing...OMG! Made me CRY!! What an epic nostalgia!
Oh my god! I'm searching years for something like this..and finally! Thank you Alan Menken for putting soundtracks on our lives as we were growing older!
Guys, am I the only one who has already seen this whole thing like 8 times? 😅
Where can I find this orchestra playing? Where can I find a Disney live orchestra touring?
@@amylanai need to know too pls 😭
Lacking behind if its only 8...

Thank you so much for uploading this concert. When the adult life sucks, I love going back to these songs from my childhood.
It true now I'm 80youl l think was young very humpy thang you so must.
Alan Menken is the hart & soul of my childhood. Thank you for composing all these songs, you rock! Because of you & Walt Disney is what makes me a devouted Disney fan, Alan I love you.
Incredible. Eleanor Grant's rendition of Part of Their World was moving. She was Ariel!
The fact that A Whole New World from Aladdin was done in only one take by Brad Kane and Lea Salonga will always amaze me
I super love love this Poor unfortunate soul, the singer was to PERFECTION ✅.
This was so beautiful it made me cry. And Alan Menken, we cannot thank you enough. Genius!
PLEASE CAN SOME OF US ALL GET TOGETHER AND BE FRIENDS? LOL - WHEN IS SOMETHING LIKE THIS ON AGAIN?? - I NEED TO GO!!
Loved this show and Adam Jacob's voice.
that upwards crescendo into the final art piece of an ending in Colours of the Wind, is one of the most beautiful musical experiences i have ever experienced.
It is my absolute favourite part of the song, and has been made to sound even more beautiful by this amazing orchestra!
And what a unique cast. I think mr Menken is very pleased with this tribute!
Oh my god The medley from Hercules goddesses are fantastic!!! Powerful and full of joy, LOVE it!
Christine allado is freaking sensational. I love her in the gospel singer part !
Their voice together on « A whole new world » was a good match
The Best of Alan Menken's DIsney Songs and to top it all off, the grand finale was a song not by disney. AWESOME!
That Hercules medley had me feeling the spirit! Hallelujah!
Какие счастливчики те, кто сидели в зале и слышали, и видели это вживую!!!

I love all songs in Disney's movies. It makes feel young again. So beautiful.
alan menken always makes wonderful expression music he made me tear up cry all the emotions
It‘s in Vienna, not in Venice
This concert is EVERYTHING. I’ve had goosebumps all throughout. The nostalgia is real. The orchestra is perfection. They did such an amazing job in recreating the music faithful to the original ❤
Me as big men of 35 year old, A whole new world still make me cry as a child 👏👏👏👏👏
I'm glad I'm watching from home so i can dance all around the house listering to this masterpiece.
Go the distance gave me goosebumps. It's always been a favorite of mine since I was a little kid.
The muses took me to church! Honey that was a show! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Susan Egan reprising her Belle is something I'll always be here for! Too bad she didn't get to sing I Won't Say I'm in Love from Hercules as well.
I was there and it was one of the most incredible concerts I've ever been to. Thanks for uploading, amazing to be able to watch it again.
I was also there and it was truly a unique experience!
I was there too! the best concert I've ever watched, I am a big fan of Alan Menken and Disney, still don't believe I saw this live!! The gala was a 3 hours show! Amazing!
I’m playing Christine in the phantom of the opera concert t my house on Saturday 18 of February 2023 I’m a trained soprano
Attending this Gala is on my bucket list, been watching online for years.. cant wait to make it there. Thanks for posting!!
Was this event open to the public (buy tickets) or invite only? I would love to attend one in the future 🥰
I am speechless!!! I am just wishing that this concert comes to the US one day too. PLEEEEEASE!!!❤❤❤❤
The orchestra was not playing any games. They were on fire!!
My favorite : Drew Sarich (beautiful energy) , Christine Allado (perfect diction), Adam Jacobs (magnificent tessitura) Beautiful, so beautiful musics, songs and singers ! J'aime revoir ce concert, il est très beau et de magnifiques duos.
