This is easily the best tutorial I've found in the last 4 months of trying to learn blender. Thank you so much for making this, it has been incredibly helpful.
Ive searched very far and wide for such an in depth tutorial. the community needs more like this!! CYBORG/SCI FI tutorial 3D modelling please help us out!
I cannot believe I just found this video. Ive been attempting to model this exact helmet but i have been absolutely struggling. Thank you so much for not only your tutorial but your incredible STL file as well!!
You have so many little tricks buried in here that show the CORRECT way to do things. You would seriously be doing the world a kindness if you made some more tutorials that focus on best practices. Please, even a year(ish) after you have posted this I have not found anyone with a comparable grasp on the correct way things should modeled in general and especially for 3D printing.
Excellent work, feedback: The first part was super great. after the speedup, you use like 5 technics that can use some voice-over explaining what tools or why you chose that approach. The troubleshooting part was a great example of how to fix a complicated issue. Thank you for your time and work.
I've always wondered how these things were designed. Is there some tutorials for blender that would explain what you are doing? the Silent part is impossible to follow. I feel like each step could have its own video. Like around 1:11 you're adjusting the inset rectangle, right before that you added a second thin row along the curve.
I can’t figure out how you was able to highlight parts of the pressure to be able to make it pop out is there a certain type of software you have to have.
Where can I have someone make a custom helmet design and have it 3D printed? I have a design with renders I’d like to make a reality but have had no line of finding anyone
Impressive work as always, modelling AND editing 😁 What are your, as a long-time user, thoughts on Blender 2.8? I've downloaded it and started playing around. It will be a while before I can achieve what i want, but I'm enjoying learning!
Thanks Martin! Long time users of Blender know it's not wise to switch to beta versions of Blender for any serious work, the risk of losing work is too high. I know they're still squashing bugs and sorting out things like keyboard shortcuts etc. which is too disruptive for me right now. But I do have 2.8 installed, I am testing it and it's looking really good! There will be a learning curve for me, not so much because of new features but more because they've really moved stuff around (and changed my favourite keyboard shortcuts) also taking away my layers and replacing them with collections will take some getting used to, but I can see the benefits. Once 2.8 is out of beta and officially released I will switch over. But if you're new to Blender I'd hop onto 2.8 now, may as well start with the new interface. Just be mindful not to expect it to perform like finished software.
Hi Martin, New to Blender 2.80 ................. as am I my friend ; ) I found a superb 2.80 beginner course by 'Chocofur' > ruclips.net/video/pVqv1NBI-Co/видео.html&ab_channel=chocofur I've downloaded the entire series, so now I can just refer to the videos as I work with Blender. Highly recommended mate. Very well explained, no crazy music, no distractions and very well explained. TURK T4 Concepts
Wow, once again. I saw this totally different. I looked at the helmet as having the inner blue section with some sort of hearing protection and the white as merely a track with the strengthening pieces for the chin of the visor were at. I thought you would have to model the inner helmet first and then the outer visor and mechanism last. I was surprised as you worked on the visor slide first. I am at the 39 minute mark wondering if this is just a static model.
Thanks Joseph! Your comment serves as a reminder that we are all going to see and tackle things a little differently, all equally valid. Being an in game model design I saw it as a fixed static helmet but I see what you're saying.
Do you hire yourself out? I have just found your channel and am just starting the video, but incase this old dog has trouble learning a new trick. I have been using Blender for years, but not to this level.
Hi Paul ........................ You're the reason that I'm not getting much sleep these days! ; ) Up all night watching your videos, I'm particularly interested in the use of Blender 3D and the way that your're using it. I'm not a great fan of sped-up videos ............... so watched the entire thing at quarter speed! Great stuff : ) Have you moved entirely to Blender 2.80 now? Have you managed to set the viewport grid to millimetre squares? Been trying to do that for days, can't figure it out! : ( Anyway mate, all the best. TURK T4 Concepts
Hi TURK! From memory I sped that video up by 800%, if you were watching that played back in real time hours would turn into days ;) Am using both 2.79 and 2.80 at the moment. Will make a video showing how to set up the scaling, it's the same as 2.79 things have just been moved around a bit. Loving 2.80 for animation but have concerns about using it for 3D printing, will elaborate more soon.
Hey, idk if you might answer this, but i’m using blender 2.7 (bc my laptop doesn’t support 2.8) and I don’t know how to set that blue background with grids, mine it’s just dark gay with no grids and it’s hard so see
Hola, me gustó ver el video... Pero quería saber como se ve llevado a la realidad... Por favor, usted podría hacer un video con el trabajo final impreso.. Quedo muy agradecido
@@PVG3DPrints Yes, thank You for the answer. I’ve already found the solution. But the problem was that when I was adding this so-called “image as plane”, it was not added to the YX - coordinate plane. And it was added to another one, so I had to manually rotate it to make everything look as in Your tutorial. But I have thought it was wrong due to the fact that everything is not going exactly like in the tutorial. But after I restarted the project a couple of times, the "image as plane" began to be added already to YX - coordinate plane by default just like You had. It looks like the program simply remembers the last coordinate plane selected in previous session and adds a “plane as image” to it.
Hi Jan. Yes, I need a 3D package that I can use for character animation, effects, broadcast design as we as modelling for 3D printing and parts. Over the years I've owned licences of Lightwave, Maya and Modo… For me Blender comfortably replaces these packages and it's free!
@@PVG3DPrints I'm in a situation where I can get Rhino for free. So I'm not shure to use that one or Blender. Trying to design helmets and other costume pieces like blasters
@@PVG3DPrints First I want to thank you for you time and effort it took you to make this tutorial. I am getting into 3D designing right now, and I am mostly into residential architecture and mechanical design (I know inventor and fusion 3d would be the best for designing mechanical things, but how does blender compare to these programs?). I see you can select very small units in blender down to a micrometer, the question is can you export or convert that file into G code which is I believe used in CNC Machining Industry? Maybe make a tutorial about it if it's possible for others to know about it as well.
Yes no problems at all. I used Maya before switching to Blender, and I used Lightwave before switching to Maya and I actually started on Studio Max way back in 1998. The workflow is different from software to software but they are all capable packages.
