    one recommendation, i let my prints dry for atleast an hour, normally longer, becouse they are still slightly wet and if you close that aluminum foil around it no water can evaporate, making your sporeprint go bad faster. if they are dry and stored in a sterile zip lock bag in a fridge they last a lot longer than 5 years, even heard about 10 years.

    Not sure if you’ll still be reading comments but if you get to this one could you please do a video on temperature and humidity conditions during colonization and fruiting maybe with like a time lapse of the substrate/ mushrooms with the humidity and temperature meters visible I’ve watched a lot of your videos and I love the way you explain things please and thankyou keep up the good work😁

    • @BoomerShroomer
      @BoomerShroomer  3 года назад +3

      Yes, I can try. I tried to do a time lapse of the colonization in my how to grow mushroom in a monotub video. But what I am learning is if you have the light on 24/7 in the monotub the mushrooms don't grow as well. They need light, but that not that much light. So I am working on getting a camera with night vision so we can see them grow at night. Then once I have a night vision camera I am hoping to see the mushrooms grow at their fullest potential. So might be a few month before I get a video out that has a decent time lapse.

    • @dustintravis8791
      @dustintravis8791 Год назад

      I'm pretty new too but I believe it's used as another identifying factor when attempting to determine which mushroom it is (plus you can use the spores at a later date if you wanted to try to cultivate them). For example, if you had a mushroom that looked identical to a couple you have found online but one drops yellow spores and another kind drops white spores you could do a spore test to determine which specific mushroom you have. The more points of data you have about a mushroom the better you can more confidently identify it, so if you look online for a mushroom that has gills, a long stem, turns purple when you score it, AND now you know it releases yellow spores since you did a spore test it only helps with narrowing down identification.

    (1) What about the moisture that is in there /on the foil. From after the mushroom has been lifted mine has little water droplets. Also my prints are slightly damp...one of them I could watch it dry up (the print got a little lighter in color as it dried). You just folded it up?...it won't mold in there inside the foled up foil?
    (2) Can you dry out those caps with the rest of the harvested mushrooms being dehydrated and consume them also? I am thinking not...mine had a little bit of fuzzy stuff on and under them. Could be mycellium, but if it is mold, someone could get very sick if they are highly sensitive to mold. ...???

    Can you store in the refrigerator? I do not have air conditioning and it gets very hot during the summer.

    I’m sorry I’m so late to this channel, but can you do spore prints for all kinds of mushrooms? Like, even wild ones? I always wanted to do some and take photos of them, and I assume you can plant the spores, correct? What else is spore-ing good for? (I’m 21 and very new to mycology but I live in the southeast, so we have lots of cool mushy buddies and I always write notes on trees where some mushrooms grow for people not to knock them down because they are equally important 😢)

    I did this step by step and thete were no spores. I left it a bit longer the the mushroom head went mushy 😅

    • @BoomerShroomer
      @BoomerShroomer  3 года назад

      I keep mine in a ziplock bag, then put them in a drawer thats cooler and away from light. Also dry is best. They should store for years like that.
