  • I came across Evemodel trains while looking at model train stuff on EBay. This train car had a starting bid of .99. I bid a dollar and I won! This is a nice budget minded car and it does come in painted versions. See the link below of all Evemodel offerings. I did misspoke when weighing this car. I said National Railroad Model Association. It’s National Model Railroad Association, NMRA.

That’s such a neat car for 99 cents! I’ve never seen those washers before. They make sense, but I’ve only ever seen the plier method of adjusting coupler pins.

I think this car is listed at $18.99, which still a good price. I find the older I get, the more I like specialized tools!

Great video Mark! A car like that is like a blank canvas. I'm excited to see what you do with it :) ps crazy idea popped into my head about raising the coupler- could you put a tiny piece of plastic or cardboard inside the coupler box on top of the back part of the coupler? I'm thinking lowering the back part of the coupler will tilt the front upwards, just a thought, no idea if it would work

Thank you. I’ve done what you said, but just the reverse. I made a shim out if very thin styrene and slid it into the coupler box to keep the coupler from hanging down too low.

It seems this company has been around for about ten years, but I never heard of them until recently. I’ve only come across their stuff on line.

That was interesting, I never heard of them before. First thing I do with a new car is snip the trip pins off. I get some strange satisfaction in it... 🔪
