    Trains 21 is a documentary of railroading in the 21st century and a look at the fascinating world of transportation. On this channel we deal with all aspects of trains with a strong focus on the Northeast USA.
    The goal is for you to learn a lot in a short amount of time.. A major infusion of knowledge in just a few minutes.. And if those few minutes distilled some of the best railroad information in the industry, we feel that we've done our job..
    The trick is clarity.. Clear, concise and on point.. New videos are uploaded frequently and if you like what you see, comment, like and subscribe (in that order!).

    Part 2 of this video will pick up where this piece left off and Segway us into boxcar and some freight car leasing along with some stuff that I had intended to include in this video but didn't have the time to. Part 3 or 4 will Segway us into the full video of "America's Coolest Trains." Along the way well look at several other different types of boxcars including FMCs, Combination Door and 86' Auto Parts boxes.

    A Lot of Beer travels outside of AB INBEV in St. Louis. Back in the Day, AB had their Own Railroad at the STL Brewery. There is also plenty of Beer going out by Truck. 👍

      The nice thin is that the beer car in this video had just emptied out liquors of various types from California.

    Being a sucker for old boxcars, this is a nice in depth sight, sucks that companies don't really do anything unique or special design wise anymore, newer boxcars just look so bland, or similar anymore

    • @shortliner68
      @shortliner68 11 месяцев назад

      I know what you're saying! That's why I like the older boxcars with large, billboard style graphics on them. The kind I was still seeing when train watching as a teen back in the 1960s.

    Love the video...I thought I saw WRWK, which is Warwick RR...a part of the Providence and Worcester RR...the old LEF & C boxcars have SGLA. I wonder who owns those?

    • @Trains21
      @Trains21  Год назад

      SGLR is the Seminole Gulf RR out of the Tampa, Florida area. And, yes, those were Warwick RR boxcars you saw. They're actually quite common through this area.

    • @cdavid8139
      @cdavid8139 Год назад

      I believe WRWK are cars owned by GATX. The way cars are bought and sold these days I'm not positive. The marks are just leased and the cars are not actually owned or part of PW.

    you know AC there's still a use for newspapers we'll always need bonfire starter and paper for training new puppies!! and some newspapers those are all they're good for anymore!! and roads maynot be buying new boxcars but leasing companies sure seem to be!!

    • @Trains21

      Which I'll be discussing in Part 2!

  • @rtz549

    What about a cheap or low cost paint. Can be sprayed or rolled; even automated with computer vision. Every car that enters the yard gets auto sprayed to
    Defeat the graffiti.
    Remember the graffiti on the NYC subway in the 1970s, 1980s? It was because they didn't care. As soon as they cared; the painting went away.
    If they know their "art" will be painted over the next day; they won't bother to do it anymore.

    • @cdavid8139
      @cdavid8139 Год назад

      That has been discussed in the industry. In the long run it just hasn't been deemed financially important to do so. SOme car leasing companies set up shops at origin or destination points and tackle the job but that is rare.

    I thought Boxcars were only good for 40 years and not 50. Is it some other car that's only good for 40?

    • @Trains21
      @Trains21  Год назад +1

      I don't know, but boxcars are good for 50 years. At least most of them are.

    • @richardreid6377
      @richardreid6377 Год назад +2

      40 vs 50 was determined by build date; not car type. At this point all the 40 year cars have passed their date.

    • @slashmaster2
      @slashmaster2 Год назад

      @@richardreid6377 You mean there was a time when they were good for 40 years and a time when they were good for 50 years?

    • @bakerboat4572
      @bakerboat4572 3 месяца назад

      In the U.S., there is a 50-year age limit on railcars that can be interchanged. In Canada, it is only 40 years. That's probably why.

    • @TheMrPeteChannel
      @TheMrPeteChannel 2 месяца назад

      All cars made after July 1974 are good for 50 years. After that they get inspected & usually repaired/rebuilt for additional years.
