First the Thompson River Canyon. Then the "Southern Division." Now Lost Creek. Rod this is absolutely inspiring and some of the best modeling in the hobby. Thank You for sharing your work. Truly amazing!
Thank you Ray and wow thank you for following my exploits in the hobby. I must admit I have enjoyed building the layouts and about to start on a HOn3 layout as soon as we get squared away in our downsized home.
Living in Australia I had never heard of him when I started painting backdrops in the early 90's. Did purchase two DVDs' late 1990's from Daryl Huffman. They were a great help whilst building my other layouts, especially the Lost Creek.
Hi Lee, probably only a couple of years and sadly it did not get finished. Living in Australia I had no idea of Bob Ross until some folks mentioned it on my channel. Thanks for your kind words. Rod.
Nice layout. Did you use micro engineering On30 track? If you did how did you keep it from from having that zigzag effect when bending the radius? I’m building an On30 layout myself and find bending the track difficult, in fact I’ve ruined a few pieces.
Hi Jim.Thanks Jim. Yes I love ME track in all scales. I also purchase their pre weathered track. It is a little hard to get the curves the way you want however I just do a bit of a curve at a time moving the cross ties a bit at a time as you go. The ends can be a bit sharp and tough on the fingers but! You can purchase track set gauges to fit inside the track to give you a constant curve but I just do it by eye. Take it slowly do not try and bend it like a piece of wire. Just start at one end and gradually work your way around, a slight curve of about 2 inches then move the ties and then repeat. Just keep doing that and adjust as you go.Trust this is of some help.
Beautiful layout, and wonderful work. It is just a terrible shame that it isn't done in On3 instead of On30. 30 in gauge was terribly rare in the old American west, whereas 36 in gauge was by far the most common. Ever considering widening to 36" gauge? People go to great lengths to have historical authenticity, but then ignore something as glaring as the correct gauge. Too bad. Love your trees and forests, though.
Great Work The only thing that's a problem The music is making me sleepy Just like that Vann Gillis music in the original Science Show Cosmos with Carl Sagan .
Wonderful thanks for sharing!!!
Thank you, sorry it had to go.
Simple Perfect👍🏻
Thank you Michael.

Fantastic workmanship and design. The only thing missing is a woodchuck under one of the shanties. Congratulations and thank you for sharing.
John this layout and my SFRSD layouts are gone. I am now into HOn3 in a new house. never thought about a woodchuck!
Suburb work and layout great work on the landscape looks so real good job one of the best I've ever seen thanks for sharing this
Thanks Tony, it was a sad day when I had to pull it down. My new Monarch Branch in HOn3 should fill the void hopefully.
Beautiful work Rod !! Thanks for Sharing !!
Thank you Rich. Sorry for late reply.
Wow Sir!. I can only try to do half as great as your beautiful work. Thank you for sharing and the inspiration!!!..
Thanks for that. I watched a lot of DVDs before I ventured into this part of model railroading. Dip your toe in the water and have a go.
Wonderful works of art, Rod.
Thanks Ken. Just enjoying the hobby.
C’est absolument magnifique. Quel talent! Awesome
Thank you.
Hmm... saw the thumb nail for this video and somehow I had thoughts of Bob Ross and happy trees jump into my head.
Thank you however I had no idea who Bob Ross was as I live in Australia and had never heard of him until well after I did my backdrop.
Seems that you grew up with Bob Ross painting shows during the 70ies 😉😉

@@rodwarren2508 And Daryl was inspired by Bob as he told me some 10 years ago
Absolutely loved the layout. Bob Ross would have been proud. How long did it take to build it.

Outstanding modeling, Rod! Did this railroad come down, so you could build the HOn3 D&RGW layout?
No Mark. We sold our home of over 30 years to downsize. The new HOn3 is in a double garage in the house.

Thsnks for the comments. The layout is no more. Dismantled several years ago so we could move house.
Great Work
The only thing that's a problem
The music is making me sleepy

Thanks John, sorry about the music.
