about how big did each of your squares measure up to?
Hi! Each of my squares measured about 5 and 3/4 (5.75) inches or 14 and 1/2 (14.5) cm from edge to edge. All the measuring details are in part two if you wanna check that out 😊 I hope this helps! If you have any more questions feel free to ask :)
Hiiii! I love this pattern, do u know how much yarn did it take?
Hi!! I’m so sorry but I’m not sure how much yarn I used. I do remember it was less than a skein of the main color of yarn. I hope this helps!
12:47 5 hearts
What am I doing wrong? Near the end, I only have 3 stitches left for the Triple crochet, double and then half. No stitch for the single.
Hi! There are a few ways you can make sure you have enough stitches:
1) check that you are using the 2 chain stitches that were made at the beginning and end of row 2 when you make the square around the heart
2) make sure that the second row of your heart has a total of 29 stitches (including all the chain stitches). When you use the dc stitch from row one to make the hdc between all the single crochets in row 3, you are technically using a total of 30 stitches from the heart.
3) make sure that you are using the middle stitch from the FIRST row of the heart to make the double crochet when you do the 4sc-1hdc-4sc side
if none of the above work/helps, I would omit the slip stitch at the beginning of the round and start with a sc. So it’ll go sc-hdc-dc-tc-ch2-dc-hdc-4sc-ch2-4sc-hdc-4sc-ch2-4sc-hdc-dc-ch2-tc-dc-hdc-and END with a sc
I hope this helps!
I'm using the correct hook, but my project is coming out so looose, does it mean I'm using a low quality yarn? Please help
Hi! It might be the yarn, but it could also be your tension. Maybe try a smaller hook with the same yarn, or try crocheting tighter. If your project is still loose, I would try a different yarn!
@@joymakes Thank you ♥️
@user-jo5sd1lb4e of course! Let me know if you need more help.
hey! i really hope you see this since i was planning on making them today but on 17:52 did u put it in the back loop too?
hi! At 17:52 I only went through the back loop (I didn’t go through the front loop) and the other strand you see is the loose end of the yarn when I cut off after making the heart. I put it over my hook along with the back loop so I could weave it in as I crocheted (so I wouldn’t have to weave it in later). I hope this clears things up! Let me know if you have any more questions. Happy crocheting 😊
@@joymakes awesome thank you so much! thank you for this video i will definitely try making these tomorrow 😁

hi im sorry i know u said at 16:46 that the last sc is at the chain we made loosely but idk why my last sc is at the stitch before thatt. should i just do 5 sc or?
and i dont know why i keep not having space to do the single crochet at the end
Hi! At 16:46 there should only be 4 sc on that edge before you make a hdc. Double check if you put two stitches in one space. Also double check that your...
• 1st stitch is a loose slip stitch into the chain one space at the bottom of the heart between the two single crochets from the last row
• 2nd stitch is a single crochet into the first sc on the left of the chain one space from the heart
• 3rd stitch is a hdc into the second sc from the heart
• 4th stitch is a dc in the chain one space
• 5th stitch is a tc in a sc space
-Then you have two chains for the corner-
• 6th is a dc in a chain one space
• 7th is a hdc into the first dc of the last row that makes the round part of the heart
• 8th is a sc into the second dc of the last row
• 9th is a sc into the third dc of the last row
• 10th is a sc into the fourth dc of the last row
• 11th is a sc into the fifth dc of the last row
-Then you have two chains for the corner-
• 12th is a sc into the sixth dc of the last row
• 13th is a sc into the seventh dc of the last row
• 14th is a sc into the eighth dc of the last row
• 15th is a sc into the loose chain we made before slip stitching and finishing the heart
-Then you make a hdc into the middle dc of the first row’s cluster-
Then the other side of the heart should be the exact same but mirrored. Make sure that your first stitch on this side is a sc in a chain one space. The chain one space can be a bit hard to find so you might want to use a smaller hook just for that stitch, but that sc in the chain space will guarantee you have enough space to finish the row properly.
The last stitch of the row should be a sc into the second sc of the last row right before the chain space of the last row/before the slip stitch we make at the beginning of this row.
In other words, for the second side of the heart you can reference the bullet points above. The first stitch on this side is the 15th stitch from the other side (the hdc is a stitch to make the middle of the heart so it doesn’t count when I’m talking about mirroring/the other side) and the very last stitch is the 2nd stitch (not the first because we only need one slip stitch-also a stitch for the middle of the heart-just the bottom middle lol).
@@joymakes thank you so so much omg
Np! Let me know if you have any other questions :) I’m happy to help 🥰
So do we just repeat the same for the 2nd and 3rd row what we did for the first
Kind of but not really. The first row of yellow (the main color that is not the color of the heart) is to build out the heart so it become a square shape. The second row puts clusters into the square which is a bit different than a normal granny square because we’re going into stitches rather than spaces (the chain ones or chain twos). The third row and fourth row are like regular granny squares (if you need a fourth row). I hope this helps!
Btw, there’s a part two to the video because I couldn’t fit it all into one. The link is in the description 🥰

aahhhh i keep messing up these hearts 😭 for some reason i end up with 3 loops instead of 4 (at the top of the heart) when attaching the granny square to the heart
nvm!!!! i finally found what i did wrong

hi! what mm crochet hook are u using?
hi! i’m using a 5.25 mm crochet hook!
How big should hearts be?
hi!! They should measure about 2.25 inches or 5.5 cm from the largest part going left to right. From when the top of the heart where it dips in to the bottom point should be about 1.5 inches or 4 cm. I hope this helps!
@@joymakes thank you!!!
