We have just found your site and can't tell you how much we enjoy it! Your dog is a carbon copy of a dog we used to have including the black spot about midway up the tail, makes me wonder if they were brothers!! He passed away several yrs ago. Your music in the vids are the soul.satisfying music we like and hubby is from the areas you hike in so we so enjoy the beautiful scenery. Thanks so much for sharing...😊
We'll definitely be heading back in there! You should know better than most that Timber only enjoys a refreshing cold brew while he is laying in a creek..
Great video ! I’m reading “Undaunted Courage” about Meriweather Lewis & Wm Clark’s 1805 Lolo Trail shortcut on their return trek eastward along the Bitterroot R. They were hungry, exhausted & footsore, but Lewis found time to write a few thousand words about the Camus & other plants he saw in that stretch.
Oh my - such fun! Great views! Really appreciate your efforts to share what you see! Beautiful country and love walking along with you! Thank you so much!
I'm sure it takes a lot of time and effort to produce your videos between footage, narration, drone and editing. I love this part of our country so it's all very appreciated. Thanks for sharing!
Nice vid Travis. Looks alot like Fletcher Basin. I've been to lower Trio off the North Fork Trail. We had part ownership of the North Fork Lodge years ago. Spent alot of time up there.
I've seen that trail from the N Fork trail both times I hiked it. I was thinking we might come out there, but we didn't make. Definitely going to hit this area again at some point.
Great video and I’m loving the drone shots! Last October we got caught in a snowstorm between Heart and Pearl and ended up turning around. Someday I’ll have to try and make it back!
That is funny, a couple years ago we went to Heart Lake in October and we got unexpectedly snowed on as well! It's a great hike through there and drone friendly!
Anything worth seeing is worth the work on trail! You’ve been knocking out some big ones this year! It’s been a treat to see these areas north of me. Got me looking at some future wandering for sure!
Yeah, man! That's a sweet hike into trio along the ridge/line(need lots of water). That can be quite the push. We'd drop in at the saddle, first sight of upper trio. My favorite is Dalton; not such a hard push. The mountain goats come down to the water often, then climb back up the cliffs. It didn't look too Smoky though👍 Not as bad as it is in kootenai county anyway :-D I've a killer hike for you guys north of Sandpoint. There's a trail most of the way, and the rest is worth every heart pound. But it's way too smokey right now. Even if it were open. Praying for rain
It wasn't too bad at the time we did this hike. The fires that are near the fire have all grown in size since then. We've already decided that we're going back to camp at Dalton at some point.
@@mountainwanderer send me a PM, and let's get connected; do some trips together maybe. I mostly go solo because i know few people able or experienced and in shape enough to go🤣 (Btw, Joey is how i found your channel)
The elusive Trio Lakes. Someday I will get there. Sometimetime this month I think I'm going to hike Goose Creek trail to get to Trio Lakes. Let me know if your interested. Would be fun to hike with you. Great video! Hike on!
@@mountainwanderer Hopefully something works out. How can I get a hold of you non public? Will let you know when I decide to go there or some where else. Thanks
Obligatory Indian Paintbrush, right off the bat. Love ridge-running on the Bitterroot divide! A lot of great places to visit. Was the "up and atom" a Simpsons reference?
Not a Simpson's reference.. just got lucky with that one. Gotta love the indian paintbrush. One of my favorites! Of course, you know that if you've watched a couple of these videos.😀
Such a beautifully tranquil location down there by the lake. How are the forest fires in your area? I know even here in Nova Scotia, Canada, our evening sun has taken on a different shade of orange because of all the smoke in the upper atmosphere from the fires out west... Keep safe out there and hope you have an enjoyable rest of the week! Bruce and Otis
The fires here are pretty bad. The Forest Service is doing a great job in our area of keeping them away from structures and keeping people safe. The smoke has pretty much shut down hiking for me at the moment... hope we get some rain..
What a beautiful area to hike through. What dice game were you playing the first night? When we went into the Boundary Waters a couple weeks ago, No. 3 Son was teaching No. 2 Son how to play cribbage one evening. Thanks for taking along on your hike.
Didn't know about that trail. You must have driven to Cedars and then crossed the border. I hope to be able to car-camp there to Superior, MT, then drive north to St. Regis and then back across the border, then to St. Maries and spend the night at McCroskey Park, the largest state park in Idaho and it is free.
Watched this again and was looking at the AllTrails map. After passing Dalton Lake, did you drop into that basin just east of Goose Ridge or the Fish Creek Trail? Either way, you guys were so close. Absolutely can’t wait until I can do this hike myself.
I'm not looking at a map, but it might've actually been south, but we dropped into Idaho when we wanted to drop into Montana. With any luck, I might get another shot at this trip.
Studying the Clearwater National Forest map now. We'd be coming up from south of Riggins. Already planning on staying at Three Rivers Resort on the Lochsa/Selway/Clearwater Rivers this fall. What kind of dog do have? We just got a Shepsky (German Shepherd/Husky mix) and he looks kind of like yours.

I'm so happy that you found us! Thanks for coming along with us! My pup, Timber, is a pretty amazing dog and he loves his time on trail!
Great video guys. As a former park ranger who has spent a lot of time backpacking, your adventures are well done. Thank you
Thank you! This was one smoky trip! The Great Burn has some nice hiking!
Love, love the pup traveling along with you!!!!
He ended up overheating at the end. In the shot of him at the end, he was in full recovery mode.
Once again very nice thanks for sharing!
Thanks for checking it out!
Great shots....put heart lake on my list. Nice to see Timber having a nice, cold ,refreshingly smooth brew at the end.
We'll definitely be heading back in there! You should know better than most that Timber only enjoys a refreshing cold brew while he is laying in a creek..
@@mountainwanderer Lol.
Enjoyed this video as I do all your others. Catching up after my two months roaming around the rockies this summer. Saw a lot of smoke too.
A couple of months of wandering the Rockies sounds like a dream come true for me!
Another jewell... Thank you!
Thanks for watching!

What a lovely video, really loved it,please stay safe debs.

Great video and it looked like Timber loved it.
Thanks, man! On our last hike out, Timber started over heating a bit. He made it out, but we had to keep prodding him on..

There is certainly a lot of work that goes into them. It might not show it every time, but it always goes in! Thanks for noticing!😃
@@mountainwanderer I agree, it is all so good.
The smoke lends an eerie feel to everything. Cool drone shot of going over the hill and seeing the lake.
It's true! The first night it seems like golden hour for 3 hrs! The eerie part is knowing that it is caused by fires.
Thanks Travis.....fantastic video, as always. So appreciate you sharing your hiking adventures.
I appreciate you hanging in there with me! love making videos... love backpacking more😀
That drone footage is really cool. Beautiful campsites. Really cool hiking trail. The scenery is incredible
The drone does add different perspective. It looked way smokier on the drone that it felt like on the ridge.
Gorgeous cinema as expected. Thank you.
Go Cats.
Too bad this trip was so smoky, but it was a great adventure!
Great video! Keep up the good work!
Thank you! And thanks for checking it out!

It's been a good season so far for sure! We're just getting to the best stuff now!
Beautiful area!
This is one of my favorite trails to hike in the area! Too bad the views were so smoky..
As usual great video. Smoke in BC was terrible.
great butterflies though.
The smoke has got a lot worse here since this trip. Fires burning all over the region.
Great video!

16:37 As far as flavor goes, my favorite species of Huckleberry. Berries generally are tiny, but are so good.

Sounds like a great place to hike!

Cribbage would be a good one to have on a trip! I'm not 100% sure what the name of the is, but it's poker with dice.
It’s called Yam Slam! It’s a great game and very light weight:)

On this trip we took the Stateline Trail which in this area is the border between Idaho and Montana
Ahh ... my new home. I love this area. Is this by Rhodes Peak, where I camped once?
I have no idea where you camped, but it doesn't look like there is a Rhodes peak in the area.

@@mountainwanderer South on the Idaho side is the basin formed by Goose Ridge on the west. Looks like you hiked right past Trio Lakes, but not by far.
Who and when did they build all those trails? Looking on a map of that area, they're everywhere.
That is a great question! I wish I had an answer..
Better start a GoFundMe page so you can get the dog some glasses. ; )
Would you believe that he has already had eye surgery once?!
I hope you get free beer from Radio!
I surely should!
