    It was so fun watching this! I’m glad we have both this video and the new one. It will be interesting to go back after the fire.

    Just went back and re watched this video. This is one of the first videos that I watched of yours that inspired me to start a RUclips channel. Hard to think it all started for me with an old Samsung Note 4. Times they have changed. Lol. Thanks for the inspiration Travis. Also Cabin Lake was one of the First videos I shot.

    Another superb trip. I'll have to remember that one. I will admit I got a bit of a scare when the banjo started up. Made me sort of clinch up, being in NW Montana and all. I thought you were off your nut about the whitetails thinking it was more muley country. But I rewound it a couple of times, and yep, whitetail way up there. Mo' on HF.

    • @mountainwanderer
      @mountainwanderer  7 лет назад

      Haha! You do have to watch out for the banjos! Sadly, those couple whitetails were the only wildlife I saw the whole trip.

    Ok...some years have passed since this was filmed, but it was great watching it now - thanks! And your reply to one of the comments asking what kind of dog Timber is answered my curiosity, too. Part husky....I guess that explains the wider head and the bit of a neck ruff. What a GREAT dog....always look forward to seeing him in your videos. BUT....I have a question about that ruined (?) structure at the top of the hill at about min. 14:35 to 14:50. Would you share whatever you might know about it??

    • @mountainwanderer
      @mountainwanderer  8 месяцев назад

      I actually don't know much about it. That was Mt Silcox and I believe that there used to be a fire lookout there. I took another trip here and did this same route a few years ago. Sadly most of the area in this video burned up.

    That’s a great trail. I live in Utah and love the Uintas! I’ve been up in that area of Montana just north in the Logan State Park area in July. Great mountain range!

    This one is on the list for late August as long as the trip is a go 🤞🏻. Wanting to hike a couple days in glacier but not sure what will be available. The trails I had picked in glacier are closed for the year 😞 trying to research some good alternatives. Looks like it will mainly be west glacier.

    do you never worry about getting lost? what is the plan if u do?

    • @mountainwanderer
      @mountainwanderer  4 года назад +1

      No, getting lost is not something I worry about when I go out. The way I think about it is you assume certain risks when you're out there. Being lost is one of them, animals attacks and weather are others. I carry a map with me and usually have a pretty good idea about the layout of an area I am in before I go.

    Nice song, though!

    • @mountainwanderer
      @mountainwanderer  7 лет назад +1

      No, I never worry about going alone. Honestly here in the Northwest, unless you go to really popular places, you won't see anyone else. On this trip, I only saw 2 people the whole trip and they were all picking huckleberries near the trailhead.

      I personally don't carry either, but I will be adding near spray next year.

    Is it legal to go fishing at any time?

    • @mountainwanderer
      @mountainwanderer  3 года назад

      I'm not quite sure what you mean. You need a fishing license, I know there are no restrictions on what time you fish, but if you're talking about can you fish any time of year... I'm not sure about that.

      do the beaten path... it was fantastic, probably not as difficult as your hike if you start at Cooke city... if you start at east rosebud trailhead its a real challenge... you can see there is a huge difference in elevation depending which way you go whether it is more ascending or descending...
