👋 I'm a proud maligator mum in 🇬🇧. Major is military trained but failed to make the grade, I called him Major , his military name was bear, didn't suit him. Nearly 2 years on , I'd never be without a gator again. Formidable, loyal, smart , goofy, loves work. Major is shedding now and it fills a pillowcase 😆.

Great video, as always! For those of us who can’t spend a lot of time on the floor and/or aren’t as flexible as you are (I’m almost 69 and have an 85 lb Doberman), a good quality grooming table is an amazing asset. My dog eagerly jumps up on it for grooming. Mine folds up when not in use and adjusts to several heights so you can either stand or sit in a chair for grooming. If you do 3 dogs in a row, you might find it very helpful! It is heavy, which is important for stability. I often use it as a project table and have even covered it fully with a tablecloth and used it to serve food for a backyard gathering. Just a thought.

Our 2 mals from the same parents have slightly different coats, one is fluffier around her neck and back legs and the other is more of a smooth sleek coat and not fluffy at all. The fluffier one sheds in tufts of fur, we have to brush her a few times a week but she loves it! Neither of them shed as bad as our previous german shepherd mix. To manage it we keep sticky rollers on hand by the sofa and I have 3 shark robot vacuums that patrol while the girls play to keep the hair under control lol. Ya gotta do what ya gotta do!

I found the Ferminator can cut and damage the top coat. This happens to one of my German shepherds. Chadde at 1st508thairborne also mentioned this happened to him as well. Furminator does make a long dog hair brush that is a row of metal fingers. This one and a shedding blade work awesome for me. I would hate to have the Ferminator damage the coat of your beautiful dogs. Good luck and God bless. Love the videos and info.

Professional groomer here Millers Forge clippers that are like 3.95-6.95 work well and are cheap. Furminator is not a tool to use on the regular, it is too harsh and will hamr the hair follicles leading to MORE shedding! The dremel is good to round out the nails if your dog let's you. But ditch the others.

Thanks for posting this video! I had no problem cutting the nails of my GSD's in the past but I can already tell from my 3 month old Mal pup, it will be more of a challenge. My mal sheds like a husky. The furminator is awesome, but he can only handle so much of it. I’m not sure if it’s the noise or the feel. My husband has to hold him. And the only claw that needs to be trimmed on him is his dewclaw. I call it his COKE NAIL.

Hi. I just discovered your YT site. You’re fantastic and not snobby at all about owning a Mal. I just received an 8 week old female I’ve named Zoe. She’s part Malinois and part baby Velociraptor. I need help with her biting - and I have the scars to prove my manhood. 😂 Any advice on stopping her from biting?

    • @andrewp5321
      @andrewp5321 3 года назад +1

Furminators are terrible for a Malinois coat you're better with a slicker brush using it little and often (2-3 times a week max)
In regards to biting you need to get a tug toy, encourage bite work with the tug rewarding as necessary, then teaching and enforcing out/leave by distrating away from the tug with another toy or tasty treat.
Malinois also respond VERY well to clicker training.

The thing about Malinois is about 95% of them are “working line” and therefore the only real standard is that they’re
    #1. Healthy
    #2. Have good nerves
    #3. Have wonderful drive
    #4. Have a good bite
    #5. Don’t need much sleep
and because of that they can be 110 lbs as long as they have good joints and are athletic.
So anyways, a lot of the time they’ll have GSD or Tervuren maybe Groenendael in their bloodline which is why some have thick double coats and others have short corse wiry coats.

Personally I would heavily advise AGAINST using a furminator on ANY malinois. I have a 4 yr old Male long hair and a 5 yr old Female short hair. The furminator destroys the natural oil and shine to their coats and leaves their fur feeling rough and brittle.
Also who in their right mind feeds a working dog cereal (dry food to you noobs) raw feed gives them more protein, oils for the coat and better energy levels. Even with these "tailored" dry food packs, that cost a fortune. I still notice more fatigue in my mals when they've been eating that shite. I simply buy raw feed from the local butcher and feed each dog 1kg of FROZEN raw feed ($0.80 per kg)at the end of each day. Feeding them frozen opposed to de frosted prevents bacteria from forming, it also helps cool them down at the end of the day.
Finally might add, my dogs are actual working dogs so this diet may not be suitable for more house prone dogs.
But hey what do I know 1 tour of Afghanistan and 1 tour in Iraq handling these guys in the most extreme environment.

I offer three products that I whole heartedly enjoy and want to share with others. Not sure if you’re familiar with how social media works but sponsors and affiliates are how we make our money. I’m considerate enough to put my offers at the beginning of the video so the viewer can simply fast forward through it if they’d like and not be interrupted with my promotions multiple times while watching my content.
As for the comment about my physical appearance… kindly go f*ck yourself. I’m sick to death of people thinking it’s appropriate to comment on the way I look. It’s not easy to get up here in front of a camera and show the world who you are when a$$hats like yourself are out there contributing nothing but self satisfying word vomit. Let’s see what you look like; Share a picture of yourself, let’s see your house, let’s see your car, let’s see you share an intimate peek into your life every week… you’re awfully brave behind your keyboard.
      Move along.
