I was honored to hear Hilary play the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto in my home town of Portland Oregon. She literally brought the house down. We so dearly hope to see her here again soon. What a gracious performer and so kind to sign autographs and meet with her fans afterward. She is very well liked.
Hillary is wonderful, makes even very complex pieces sound very natural as Higdon says. Very intelligent & articulate too. One of those superhumans we're given as a gift.
I always look forward to hearing new music by Ms. Hahn, but this CD especially intrigues me! The Tchaikovsky is an outstanding and exciting piece. I can't wait to hear her interpretation!
@CalogeroMira It was the finest cultural event ever in this city. To have Hilary bring what she's accomplished with the violin to anywhere would be such an honor. Portland is bowed down to her talent and gifting. We long to have her return soon. I have comments from the orchestra members who played along with her (they did a beautiful job in supporting her with this music) for instance "She played differently each night" - she was in our city for three evenings performances.
@StAngersucks At the end of the first movement, you know, everyone is supposed to be seated and quiet and listen for the second movement, WELL, INSTEAD, Everyone leaped to their feet and applauded so long and so loud that, I tell you, I thought my arms were going to fall off, yet everyone kept applauding. REALLY, it was that good. She was so calm and collected. When we all wore ourselves out, she proceeded to play the second movement. I won't go on but there are a hundred things more.

A beautiful approach.Played CD in my car.I felt I was in a storm with Higdon. Then the calm with Tchaikovsky,A wonderful feeling.
"Bringing the house down" is a common terminology for an exceptionally well-received performance.
Finally that America has something she can call of HER OWN. Composed and played by Americans. Pleasure listening to it. Love the way you play, Hilary.

Good on Hillary. Some (many?) musicians don’t care or don’t think about what or how they communicate to their audience while they are performing.
