The great thing about this duo is that their compositions always seem to have some much "room" to me, without feeling hollow. They feel like running through fields and forests alternatively, at lightning speeds, but still we see every branch and see the life hidden in the brush and sky.

Buddhism and zen talk about comparison being the devil and it invites suffering. This one idea has helped me tremendously to stick with the drums without feeling demotivated. You cannot compare yourself to others in a truly objective way, doing so just leads to suffering. It is important to learn from others but it is fruitful to not compare. Encourage your own snowflake... it is unique. Even the martial arts reinforces this idea. They teach that you can only compare yourself to yourself. I write this in hope it helps someone, for I beat myself up for years for not measuring up to Weckl, Chambers, Colaiuta and many others. It was an amazing waste of time to compare , and doing so increased my suffering. I gained many more skills with more joy by just learning but not comparing. JD Beck is a genius.... i will learn from him, but I won’t compare. May this note help relieve needless suffering.

I really love this music because it's not too catchy and it's fast but so precise that it's still relaxing and enjoyable to listen to and it sounds modern or futuristic and not old fashioned but still familiar but slightly experimental and edgy but not in an annoying pretentious way. It sounds like they're having fun playing it instead of trying to be cool, they are cool.
