I just bought mine I got the Seagate 4TB Game drive at Walmart on sale for $115. I was so tired of running out of hard drive space on my PS4 resulting in me having to delete a game or some of my previously saved game data just to play a new game..... I’m hoping this will solve all of my issues. In The research I’ve done the Seagate game drive is the best external hard drive available on the market today!! I’m glad I went with Seagate 👍🏻👍🏻

Do you have call of duty on them? I only bring up COD cause even on a 1tb I didn't have room for many games, but once I deleted Blackops 4 I have been able to install 3 games without deleting any.

When my nieces and nephews come over we get down on some PS4 but im full on storage, we've played all the games too much and my storage has been holding me back from getting new games. I cant wait. I got Tony Hawk 1&2 for ps4 and ill be getting Crash Bandicoot 4 along with fall guys, spyro, and cyberpunk . Can't wait
i just bought one and thought it was broke. i plugged it into the 2nd usb slot and it lit up, but in the settings it said it wasn't connected. had to switch it to port 1 and then it worked. not sure why because he plugged it into port 2 in this video and it seemed to work fine. guess it doesn't really matter as long as it's working.

2 Questions that should have been covered. Can you just unplug your external drive when ever you want or should you eject the drive like any USB drive first to safely remove it? Also can you play games directly off the external drive or do you need to move them over to the ps4 main drive?

Reading a lot of these comments is turning me away from purchasing this. How can you assure me if I purchase this i won’t run into these problems, and if I do, are they resolvable?
Resolvable, yes they are... PS4 support will automatically display any known faults, and then ask for your permission to fix the problem... like for example, any power shortage, and your game shuts down unexpectantly etc... only thing I could think of would be that the external HD should be USB 3.0 compatible with storage space up to 4TB's. Which is a bummer really for me personally... I wanted to go 5TB's or more, lol. Nearly 3 years ago I purchased a PS4 Slim with 1TB internal HD... I mated it with a 4TB external WD My Book hard drive, following the instructions given by the console, and that was it... 5TB's to manage all your games and data. I won't go into the number of games I have on there... we'll save that for the peacocks, gotta let them have their joy, lol. I don't know everything mate, but it seems to me that Seagate and WD can be trusted. Have a good one bro, Cheers...

Just picked on up and plugged it in to the bottom usb port and it would not work i have the original ps4 then tried the top usb port and it works just wanted to send the info out if people are having the same issue
Be careful though if your ps4 is a 1st generation I've just purchased a seagate plus Slim 2tb and can't get it to work that's why I'm thinking of getting one of these as they are for all generations of ps4
@@baka2369 it's been almost a month now and no issues for me yet, However in my country we have electricity problems. so occasionally the lights go off while I'm on ps4 and when i restart it asks me to repair the Disk, if it happens to much over and over then the files might get bugged. But that shouldn't be a problem for you unless your country also suffers from bad electricity😛
@@drexoyellow yes it works automatically, loading new games that I buy on itself. Just remember it has to plug in the only front port on the ps4 so you need to use the controller wireless but if it’s charged up, there’s no problem. I’ll check the number when I get up😂D

Yes, but only for PS4 games. You won't be able to store PS5 games on it, but many PS5 reviews say that their drives worked just fine for PS4 games. I just ordered one to put my PS4 games on so I can save space on the limited internal PS5 SSD.
So I got the message: "You are already using a different extended storage device. You can use only one extended storage device at a time. Do you want to switch to this extended storage device?" What will happen if I say yes here? Will all the games on the first external drive be wiped?
I believe it just wants you to designate the location were new download entries should be at when you decide to make newer downloads. It should be able to use both hard drives even though only one of them has the permission to download.
I can tell you tomorrow if my PlayStation doesn't act up. I download a bunch of games to my hard drive so I will try using both the games on the og hard drive and the games on the external hardrive. My external is a Seagate too.
I got my hard drive I purchased in the mail today and I followed the instructions and it does not allow me to download games onto my external hard drive, I have no error codes or anything wrong with the external storage device. The only thing that is wrong is it doesn’t allow me to download my applications and doesn’t work for just purchasing and receiving it. May I please have assistance on my situation. Thank you.

Michael Lopez I was able to get it to work by restarting my PS4 Data base (Be sure to not have anything plugged into your USB ports)! I deleted a lot of games that took up storage and I was able to get it to work. I believe the data base restart helped a lot and deleting a few games as well that took a lot of storage. I would recommend doing this because it may work. If it doesn’t I think you just need a get a replacement. Storage device works great when you’re able to get it to work. Notsilent-_- this was actually able to work, it was very strange although I just restarted my Data base on my ps4 and deleted a lot of games, so I basically chanced it. And it was able to work. Thanks for the info though!! This was the first thing I tried and it wasn’t working. I think I had too much storage on my PlayStation hard drive so it wasn’t able to work till I made space on there for my external to work properly. My apologies if this doesn’t make sense, it was just completed to deal with. Works good though thankfully 👍🏼 I hope you and everyone are holding up great though! Take care!
Seagate Technology I actually did try to attempt reaching out to the support team although I felt like I was able to figure it out myself because I was very impatient at the moment because I was very curious why this great device wasn’t working. I needed to restart my data base on the platform I play on and I had to delete certain games that had a lot of Gigabytes. I truly appreciate you reaching out and helping! @@TheSavanto I ended up returning the drive and exchanging it for a new one, the new one works, might’ve been a problem with the cord or the drive itself.
Seems to me exactly the same instruction for this and my Seagate back up plus Slim 2tb which does not work tried everything for my ps4 G1 how's this any different if I purchase one as you still have to format it and my ps4 don't wanna play
I'm pretty sure that one didn't work because it wasn't made for the ps4 with constant use being the incentive the model you bought was made for media casual stuff

Most likely but it'll be slower compared to the ps5 new hardware still worth it for more storage just expect slower loading times than the ps5 internal specs

We fixed our issues with this device quickly. Apparently if you don’t plug the device into the system quick and firm enough it has trouble reading it.

I plug mine in and get no notifications and it doesn’t show up in usb storage devices
it has to be FAT32

@@drexoyellow yes it works automatically, loading new games that I buy on itself. Just remember it has to plug in the only front port on the ps4 so you need to use the controller wireless but if it’s charged up, there’s no problem. I’ll check the number when I get up😂D

Yes, but only for PS4 games. You won't be able to store PS5 games on it, but many PS5 reviews say that their drives worked just fine for PS4 games. I just ordered one to put my PS4 games on so I can save space on the limited internal PS5 SSD.
So I got the message:
"You are already using a different extended storage device. You can use only one extended storage device at a time.
Do you want to switch to this extended storage device?"
What will happen if I say yes here? Will all the games on the first external drive be wiped?

I believe it just wants you to designate the location were new download entries should be at when you decide to make newer downloads. It should be able to use both hard drives even though only one of them has the permission to download.
I can tell you tomorrow if my PlayStation doesn't act up. I download a bunch of games to my hard drive so I will try using both the games on the og hard drive and the games on the external hardrive. My external is a Seagate too.

I got my hard drive I purchased in the mail today and I followed the instructions and it does not allow me to download games onto my external hard drive, I have no error codes or anything wrong with the external storage device. The only thing that is wrong is it doesn’t allow me to download my applications and doesn’t work for just purchasing and receiving it. May I please have assistance on my situation. Thank you.

Michael Lopez I was able to get it to work by restarting my PS4 Data base (Be sure to not have anything plugged into your USB ports)! I deleted a lot of games that took up storage and I was able to get it to work. I believe the data base restart helped a lot and deleting a few games as well that took a lot of storage. I would recommend doing this because it may work. If it doesn’t I think you just need a get a replacement. Storage device works great when you’re able to get it to work. Notsilent-_- this was actually able to work, it was very strange although I just restarted my Data base on my ps4 and deleted a lot of games, so I basically chanced it. And it was able to work. Thanks for the info though!! This was the first thing I tried and it wasn’t working. I think I had too much storage on my PlayStation hard drive so it wasn’t able to work till I made space on there for my external to work properly. My apologies if this doesn’t make sense, it was just completed to deal with. Works good though thankfully 👍🏼 I hope you and everyone are holding up great though! Take care!
Seagate Technology I actually did try to attempt reaching out to the support team although I felt like I was able to figure it out myself because I was very impatient at the moment because I was very curious why this great device wasn’t working. I needed to restart my data base on the platform I play on and I had to delete certain games that had a lot of Gigabytes. I truly appreciate you reaching out and helping! And it doesn't delete your saved data when you format it
You need to format the hard drive that you are using as an extended storage not the ps4

@@TheSavanto I ended up returning the drive and exchanging it for a new one, the new one works, might’ve been a problem with the cord or the drive itself.

Seems to me exactly the same instruction for this and my Seagate back up plus Slim 2tb which does not work tried everything for my ps4 G1 how's this any different if I purchase one as you still have to format it and my ps4 don't wanna play
I'm pretty sure that one didn't work because it wasn't made for the ps4 with constant use being the incentive the model you bought was made for media casual stuff

You need to format to ps4 settings before it will be compatible with the system. And vice versa if you ever want to switch the drive back to PC. 🤙

Most likely but it'll be slower compared to the ps5 new hardware still worth it for more storage just expect slower loading times than the ps5 internal specs
