They used that "confession" to put both him and Steve Avery away for life. Some say it was so they wouldn't have to pay a multi-million dollar suit Steve won after being falsely accused and imprisoned for 20 years. I'm sorry I can't remember the name of the documentary but it was riveting.

    When it comes to Dassey I think that was a highly unethical interrogation that should have been thrown out, he clearly has no idea what he is really saying or the implications of what he has said. I obviously can't know if Steven actually did it or not, but it seems entirely possible someone used him as a scapegoat. I don't buy the police corruption and fear of payout angle, but the idea that the murderer might have disposed of evidence on his property in order to implicate him is well within the realm of possibility given the way it all played out.

      This was a waste of time. The Watts room was set up differently later with Watts in the corner facing the camera. But in the first part of the interrogation, the larger table was there so there was room to set up the polygraph.

    Hint: If the individual who administers your polygraph, is the same cop you’ve been talking to for hours, it is doubtlessly 100% theater. As an actual test, it’s of no utility to them. But they’re not interested in the test at all; it’s just used on CW to get him rattled. AF!
    In the Watts case, she did well in staring at him silently after each question, while he must remain focused on one thing at all times. But he can see from the corner of his eye, her laser stare. That’s gotta be torture to a guilty man

    See a few of these, wondering why the rooms are often cold. Is this intentional or just what the suspect feels?

    • @uchuyinh9554
      @uchuyinh9554 Год назад +3

      The interrogation room is intentionally designed in a way that heightens the feeling of isolation (the 'cold' aspect that you just talk about), which can cause mental exhaustion for the suspects from the get go - and aid the detectives in the confrontation stage later. Imagine yourself being the suspect, when you're mentally tired (from the constant questioning, the guilty & defensive mindset,...) and physically uncomfortable (trapped in this weird room, being recorded,...) - you're more likely to make mistakes, which can lead to confessions.

    I would have to be literally possessed by Satan himself to do what Watts did. If that qualifies as the "right set of circumstances" then I'll concede to the _anybody's capable of doing anything under the right set of circumstances_ school of thought. But of my own volition, no. No, I am absolutely not capable of brutally murdering another human, much less my own spouse and children, in cold blood. Considering I am a born again Christian, "The devil made me do it." is a purely hypothetical scenario, and to that point, I take back my initial concession. No, not everyone is capable of doing anything under the right set of circumstances. They just aren't. 🤷

      @@MrHassle13 I understand, and i actually know of a REAL case where a guy confessed to killing his daughter because that was his only way out of the interigation room… the police kept him in there for hours on end and was screaming at him to confess, so he finally did and was locked up for 9 months in county jail until DNA test finally cleared him … following an arrest and confession from the REAL killer shortly after his release. BUT this is very RARE and i don’t see this being the case with brandon, or a lot of other people who try to claim the same BS. Brandon not only confessed once but several other times at different points on his own choice with details and drawings of the crime scene. he would have never committed this crime by himself but since his uncle kinda pressured him into joining in because he walked up at the wrong place at the wrong time… sad for brandon but he could have ran and called the police or did something other then joining in out of peer pressure and fear. His uncle is a POS and ruined his nephews life, but in all reality brandon had a choice and chose to join in… now he has to pay the price for his decision!
