I thought it was some kind of alert on my phone when the bells started. 😁. But the build looks good. Always wondered about the need for a hinge for a small stitching pony, since the required adjustment is generally pretty small.
Just finished making this but I made the jaws and arms slightly wider. Instead of the cam clamp, I'm thinking of using an axle skewer for a bike wheel, wayyy cheaper to get that and shorten it.
Now just use a short piece of pine 2×4 cut out with a sawall. Use a scrap piece of ply for the base. One carriage bolt with wing nut. To protect the leather, a couple of layer of duct tape. No need of lasers, expensive birch plywood or fancy dancy clamp. But hey everyone's budget is different. Chevy or gold trim Cadillac.
Absolutely. There are definitely many different ways to make a stitching pony. As I mentioned, I didn’t think this was necessarily the most economical option. For me, the plywood and leather scraps, glue and laser were all things I already had around. This was about $2.40 USD worth of Baltic birch at the time but, I know it has gone up quite a bit recently. My fancy-dancy $5 USD cam clamp does make it quick to adjust, which has been really nice when I use it. My main investment was the time setting up the design/cut files (which I shared to knock that cost off for anyone else who wants to make one). I know not everyone has a laser but, a lot of people have access to one through local maker spaces these days. As I commented in the video, this could also be cut with jigsaw or similar. This was expedient for me and, I wanted to share the project in case it was useful to someone else. In any case, I am honored you found my project to be the Cadillac option.
You managed to find a terribly annoying musical background....you're not alone many other you tubers do the same...It usually forces people to turn it off like I had to do with yours !
Cool idea. Music is torture!
Dude, kill the background bells. Hearing you talking in silence is better than the xylophone bell sounds.
Thanks for the feedback. I will keep that in mind for future videos. I hope you got something useful out of the rest of it!
Nice job! I like the size. Thanks for the helpful video!
Great idea !! I’ve been looking for a simple design for the clamping lever. Simple is best !

Kill the bells ..I DID!

Clever!
What's that blue handle called? Thank you
That is a "cam clamp." There is a link to that one on Amazon in the description.
Who is the artist for the song? 😆
Had to find another video because of the annoying bells sound.

Terrible music deserves a thumbs down!
I'm glad you were able to find something to hate about the video!
Great idea BAD music
