He sure did. It was a little frustrating hearing Vlad trying to talk over Teddy. We're here, at least I am, to hear Teddy's take. You have a well known man on the video, let him talk. Personally, I like listening to Teddy Atlas. His takes are very interesting for me anyway.
No, because Mike, at that point in time, never came close to ever being dq'd in a fight. He was rough but not ever disqualification. Tyson usually was a professional win or lose until then. After that fight .Ike was capable of anything.
Would be an interesting discussion. Tyson is open about a lot of things, but there are certain truths I don't think he wants examined too closely, and he knows Teddy might bring him to some places he doesn't want to go. I don't think Mike would agree to it. I'd also like to see Kevin Rooney interviewed like this one of these days, either with or without Tyson.

Teddy is almost bang on, but nobody ever mentions the wars he had with Ruddock, two fights that showed that Tyson could be that "man." Plus nobody ever mentions to Teddy how Tyson went out on his shield against Douglas, he was beat half to death FFS.
Both of you are correct but let's not forget about the fight after Holyfield against Lennox Lewis, Lewis beat the dogg 💩 out of Tyson for like 9 rounds and Tyson had plenty chances to STAY DOWN but he kept getting up and taking his licks, i had to respect his 🖤 for going out on his shield...
@@pheo1418The Lewis fight was different though. Yes, he didn't quit, but he stopped trying to win. It was like a self imposed punishment born from self loathing at that point. Was very sad to watch. But then "he folded everytime someone stood up to him" idea is BS, as he almost won vs. Buster only bc he kept fighting and had enough heart to land that punch. Same for Ruddock, he walked through fire and refused to lose. He was also a victim of his own brilliance I think...to Teddy's point about how he easily steamrolled through so many fighters via talent alone... character is not just inherent, it is built, and Mike wasn't able to build it in the ring through certain fights that helped bc he won them so easily. But he never would have what Holyfield had, and very few fighters in the history of the sport did. Holyfield was the Terminator and it came from his Mama and his unfailing belief in Christ.
@@pheo1418 Tyson had no hope in chance of beating Lewis, he was shot to pieces, again though, he took his beating like a man, something Teddy tries to deny.
@@joeblough261 What Teddy says a lot of time is baloney, especially when he states Tyson's record is 0-6 You could say that about any fighter, the only fights they were in were the ones they lost. Apart from the second Holyfield and McBride fights, he never quit.
I've seen this happen three times in boxing, let's call it the "Power Puncher's Dilemma." The first time was in the 5th Round in the Rumble in the Jungle. Foreman was wailing on Ali, who was sitting on the ropes. After the last blast from Foreman, Ali looked at him and said, "Is that all you got, George?" George paused, then disappeared from the ring after that. The second time was - think it was the first Holyfield/Tyson fight, but it was Round 7. Tyson stiffened Evander with his classic power left to the body followed by a right uppercut. Holyfield backed up. Then they changed camera angles so we were behind Tyson's back and we saw Holyfield brush off those punches and coming back towards camera saying, "Let's go." That's when that fight was over. The third time was when Deontay Wilder knocked down Tyson Fury. Wilder thought he won the fight, but Fury got up. You could see Deontay thinking, "This guy is tougher than I am, and I may never beat him."
Atlas is talking core facts. When everything you rely on cannot get it done can you keep going to death. Tysons image was what he relied on. Evander the real deal Holyfield relied on his heart and would die to win.
Tyson’s whole fighting style changed later in his career..limited head movement. He would stand in right front of his opponent. Watch early Mike. His head movement was impeccable. Always slipping punches instead of just using blocking as a defense. Tyson in his prime is an all time great. Bottom line
@@donscoopez3942no. He continued to have good head movement as long as he was with Kevin Rooney which was for long after Cus death. He changed when Don King hooked him up with Richard Giachetti .
Once again, Teddy drops facts . Too many of you think Teddy just hating on Tyson but he’s not. He’s just telling the truth. Tyson is great no doubt but don’t let your love of Tyson, blind you to the truth. Like Teddy said he’s a genie-ess lol
I'd also like to add,Buster beating Tyson was no fluke,Buster was just determined to beat Mike-PERIOD. Tyson got knocked out by a journey boxer who lived to beat him and he did.
He is hating, because everything he said can also be said about Holyfield. Why does he give Holyfield a pass for headbutting? Okay, the refs didn't call it, but that was still his "golden parachute" or his "gun" that he snuck into the ring in order to neutralize Tyson, because he was scared. I don't care what Holyfield says.. he was SCARED of Tyson... That's why he kept headbutting him.. and he did the same thing to Riddick Bowe when they fought and Riddick was getting the best of him. So Teddy needs to call it square on both sides. But I guess since the refs let it go, it didn't happen, right?
But Holyfield had his golden parachute. He headbutted Tyson in both fights. He held him a lot, too, every time Tyson got busy and warmed up those ribs. You gotta be fair, Teddy. If you're gonna say that about Tyson, you have to say it about Holyfield. He was scared, too...
Lool. Teddy drives me nuts on his own podcast with his snorting due to his deviated septum, so it's only fitting that for this huge interview he has hiccups. Ha
I buy Atlas' analysis of Tyson. As ferocious as he was, he never seemed genuinely secure and self-assured. With that said, tho, Iron Mike was FAR MORE fascinating than ANY fighter during his time 💯💯 Holyfield, Lewis, etc...they were solid fighters, but they weren't the least bit intriguing.
Holyfield was juiced up big time for his fights with Tyson. Tyson by this time was a shell of his former self from the time off and not having a Cus D’mato trained cornerman.
I've heard Teddy explain this whole prediction and bite story a million times, bur this one was the best in how he so brilliantly depicts Mike's psychology going into that 2nd fight. And Holyfield, complete opposite...will never forget him smiling, dancing, and walking out to, "When the Spirit of The Lord Falls Upon my Heart, I will Dance, like David Danced"
I remember when Teddy predicted this before the fight and everyone played Teddy as if he was being petty and when he was proven right he was on every news coverage about this fight and ended up getting some broadcasting gigs from it.
I agree. Tyson had the same flaw that Zab Judah had...fast and hard puncher but not very tough mentally which is why he could be very discourageable in tough fights and had a tendency to fade away in the late rounds against tough, competitive opponents. I don’t want to pile up on my man Mike Tyson. I really admire the cat..but for some reason Holyfield is the puncher when they fight. I don’t know what it is about Tyson’s punches but they don’t affect Holyfield the way Lewis’s or Bowe’s did. I don’t know if it was the angle of the punches or that Holyfield just had Tyson’s punch cadence down. But Holyfield was always doing more damage to Tyson than Tyson was to him. That’s huge. And for the record they fought in 1996 while Tyson was not at his peak anymore....but.... Holyfield wasn’t either. Holyfield is 4 years older than Tyson and he had just been kod by Riddick Bowe the year before he fought Tyson. In fact after the Tyson series and Holyfield’s win over Michael Moorer the next year, he dropped off also and never had another GREAT win. So it’s not like when they fought Holyfield was so much fresher. Holyfield just had his number.
its hard to disagree with most of what youve said mate but the only part i do is tyson not being tough mentally. I feel that tyson in the douglas and holyfield 1 fights that even though he was outclassed in almost the whole of both, he never stopped comin forward against douglas and technically did knock douglas out as he was down for 13 seconds.(not being an excuse for him losing as tysons 10 count was also 12 seconds) I thought he showed tremendous guts by coming out for the 11th v holyfield after the onslaught he suffered in r10
With all due respect , you make good points , but watch The Tyson of mid-late 80s , and the Tyson that fought Holyfield in later Years. His Movement is sluggish. There is no side stepping or his famous Pivot and Punch . Tyson just wasn't the same fighter . He Matured fast , and dwindled the same way.
Tyson was younger but wasn’t the same fighter he been lost his passion for the sport but when u worth 300 million in your prime why quit? He was just famous too early
@@Row1and I never said Tyson was a quitter, I said he fades away in the late rounds because he would get discouraged in fights he couldn't control against opponents that didn't fear him. The first few rounds Tyson was like a bull dog, but when he realizes that his opponent wasn't going anywhere and keeps coming back, Tyson isn't the same fighter he was in the first half of the fight. Tyson who is a short, pressure fighter, ALLOWED himself to be tied up more than any other fighter of his caliber I have ever seen. Think about that. Even before the Douglas loss. Tony Tucker, Bonecrusher Smith, Jose Ribalta, James Tillis, Jesse Ferguson all tied Tyson up, rather easily. At the time it did not alarm anybody but it was very relevant. Holyfield was able to “walk” Tyson around the ring at will in both fights, in clinches. Ask yourself, why Tyson wouldn’t work more out of clinches. He had no confidence in his stamina. It takes energy to do that. Tyson also lost “form” after 4 rounds of every fight he was ever in. The clinches became more apparent and prolonged. His feet became squared. His head movement stopped and he started throwing one bomb at a time. Go to each of his prime fights and look at the 1st two rounds. Then fast forward to round 5 and you see a huge difference in Tyson.

It’s amazing how Teddy can psychologically breakdown somebody in and out of the ring. Especially a person like Tyson. Teddy knew him like a book…Even if Teddy was not accurate in his analysis of this, this is still astonishing to say the least! Makes you wonder….🤔
It's not surprising at all if you know body language... alot of us knew Tyson might have been the best boxer in the world but he didn't have heart... now I'm not gonna say I would have predicted him to have did what he did and I couldn't have predicted who would have won the fight even... but Tyson had the typical bully mentality, punch him in the mouth and they crumble... anytime Tyson got in a dog fight he'd crumble... and ANYONE who followed boxing knew he was too scared to fight Bowe, just look at his old interview...
It’s not that Teddy is off the mark here because he’s very much on the mark with a lot of it. But the here’s the problem , the full story is Holyfield was using his head as a battering ram and cheating with it. First fight Tyson had a gigantic gash over his eye because of the headbutt , now here’s the second fight Holyfield head butts him again and the cut opens up. The man literally is cheating with his headbutts causing major damage. Not to mention he was holding like hell in the fights . When Holyfield fought Rahman he butted him so bad that Rahman was growing a second head out of his forehead haha. I mean cmon , the headbutts were absolute cheating . Now with all that said , in THAT moment upon the headbutt in the second fight and the cut opening up did Tyson want a “way” out through DQ? Yes. But it was only after this guy Holyfield used the same bs tactics to damage him in his eye . So Teddys right but he’s also wrong by not putting blame on the dirty tactics of Holyfield Holyfield was dirty in BOTH fights , so Tyson did it back to him but only worse
I feel like with the buster Douglas fight we are leaving out critical context.... As as before that fight happened Tyson was not training and was partying like every night and he definitely didn't have Kevin Rooney anymore who was probably his best trainer after Cus died, so all those variables matter as far as him taking that loss to Buster Douglas
Mike Tyson himself confirmed this was true when he exclaimed why he himself wasn’t on Ali level. Mike Tyson said and I quote “Ali will die in that ring, he’s willing to die to win. I’m not willing to die” and he said it with tears in his eyes. So for those thinking this isn’t true because you’re a super Tyson fanatic and don’t actually analyze the boxing, Tyson doesn’t even agree with you

And then Mills 2nd guessed himself and said, "Well, lemme check with the doctor" to which Flip Homansky said, "Yeah, he's Ok to fight" which is utter BS, if there wasn't so much money riding on the fight, no way they shoudlve allowed it to contnue, and about 1% of fighters in History wouldve agreed to go back out there, trying to concentrate with a chunk of ear missing, painful as all get out, vs. Iron Mike. @@MaccaveliPL Tyson often went in head first, and his hooks sometimes turned into elbows, as his hooks were angled a bit inwards, and he would sometimes try to break his opponents arms or hit after the bell or even hit the referree. People forget that Mike was actually small for a heavyweight. Outweigh by 25-30 pounds, outreached, but overcame all those. Eventually I knew he would not be able to get away with his deficiencies. Still one of the greatest fighters of all time.
Deficiencies? Mike was built like a Terminator and he used his low height to his advantage. Tyson was great, powerful, fast and talented, but Teddy was always right Tyson was lacking something hard to see from the untrained eye.
Teddy knew who Tyson was from the beginning. Regardless of what Tyson became Teddy knew who he was at his core. Y’all are just hypnotized by all of the bells and whistles.
Ok Teddy, sure you predicted it. It's so glaring how much of a grudge he still holds against Mike, he never stops dissing and minimizing him. The fact that Atlas had that altercation with Tyson over his his niece, was asked to leave the camp and didn't get to be part of the team to train the biggest professional boxer in the world at the time still burns him and he has never let go of it.
@@jacksonjb18 The idea that Mike Tyson didn't have heart is a complete farce. You can see in several of his early fights that he was mentally strong, every opponent didn't run scared from him. Mike's own sparring partner Mike Jameson was a huge guy who knew his style well and stood up to him for 7 rounds until Mike KOed him. He was tested by James Tillis who took him the distance, Jose Ribalta was twice his size and not scared of Mike at all and fought him hard for 10 rounds but Tyson still stopped him. Buster Douglas beat the brakes off of Tyson almost every round and would've KOed most opponents that night but Tyson fought until the very end and never waivered or quit. Bruno hurt him, Ruddock hurt him but Mike wasn't deterred. Even when Holyfield battered him the entire first fight Mike fought until the end when the ref waived it off. The only so called signs of him having "no heart" would be his mental breakdown with the ear bite and the fights much later in his career when he had already lost his spirit for fighting and was clearly washed up.

While all of this is spot-on it ignores an important fact: none of this is in-play if Cus is still masterminding Tyson’s preparation. The Tyson we’re talking about was a caricature of the model Cus built and Buster Douglas was first to expose it. The original is STILL one of the greatest EVER.

There was no long count. Learn the rules of boxing and watch the fight again. The judge cannot start the count until Tyson goes to a neutral corner. Tyson lollygagged and for about two seconds. Once judge confirms he is in corner he starts counting. When Buster knocked Tyson down, Buster immediately retreated to the proper corner so the judge started the count faster.

Vlad: Mike told me to tell you he said “Hello”
Teddy Atlas: Well does he ‘mean’ it though? Only he knows what’s in his heart.
🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️😭😭😭
Excellent response! I also wholeheartedly agree.
Wilder even admitted the same by saying, "I don't know how he got up from that" in the post fight presser.
The Puerto Rican Berlanga also. That’s the problem with only being dependent on one thing, In these cases power punching.
You worded that perfect.
Atlas is talking core facts. When everything you rely on cannot get it done can you keep going to death. Tysons image was what he relied on. Evander the real deal Holyfield relied on his heart and would die to win.
Lol. So true! Mike imitating lex Luther. Hilarious.
Ive never seen that one
Tyson’s whole fighting style changed later in his career..limited head movement. He would stand in right front of his opponent. Watch early Mike. His head movement was impeccable. Always slipping punches instead of just using blocking as a defense. Tyson in his prime is an all time great. Bottom line
That peak a boo was great
Duh his trainer died who was basically his father n he lost his discipline n started doing drugs heavy
Holyfield beats any version of Tyson
Absolutely…well-said.
@@KtotheGthat’s a good point about the head butting but Holyfield scared?
He's right. Immediately after the fight, Holyfield said, "Mike didn't want to fight..."

He's annoying.

Mr. Atlas is a Boxing mega guru.. he can read the fighters minds damn near✊🏽💰
@@harveyparker-b8ethat’s on Tyson. He wanted to party his career away. He wasn’t old. He stopped being disciplined. Not Holyfield fault.
Holyfield had Tysons number. He beat tyson up TWICE.

God bless Teddy 🙏
So Teddys right but he’s also wrong by not putting blame on the dirty tactics of Holyfield
Holyfield was dirty in BOTH fights , so Tyson did it back to him but only worse
I feel like with the buster Douglas fight we are leaving out critical context.... As as before that fight happened Tyson was not training and was partying like every night and he definitely didn't have Kevin Rooney anymore who was probably his best trainer after Cus died, so all those variables matter as far as him taking that loss to Buster Douglas
They don't matter tyson got paid to fight and he lost

Indeed Holyfield said he was gonna KO Mike after the bite, BUT it wasn't Holy that kept the fight going, it was Marc Ratner asking Mills, "you REALLY wanna disqualify him?" And then Mills 2nd guessed himself and said, "Well, lemme check with the doctor" to which Flip Homansky said, "Yeah, he's Ok to fight" which is utter BS, if there wasn't so much money riding on the fight, no way they shoudlve allowed it to contnue, and about 1% of fighters in History wouldve agreed to go back out there, trying to concentrate with a chunk of ear missing, painful as all get out, vs. Iron Mike.

Atlas is right. George Foreman is a special man. I love Big George. ❤
This interview might get vlad beat up 🤣🤣🤣👀👀👀
😅😅
Vlad you should ask Teddy Atlas what he thinks about Holyfields documented ped use and the headbutts that cut his eye in the 2nd round which was intentional
yep, holyfield was sauced to the gills and trained with mr olympia lee haney. for all the grief athletes like bonds and armstrong have been given, others like holyfield get a complete pass. in a combat sport no less lmao.
Why is he not mentioning after tyson got out of jail he was never the same. Tyson was lost and was just trying to get back on the horse. FACTS
He not lyin Mike would agree. He was f*cord up and angry. Legend still in my eyes 🐐
