I bought a Rogue Ohio power bar SS for squat, bench, and deadlift. Not sure I love it for deadlifts though. Is there one bar better suited for deadlift and olympic lifts that has enough whip for both?
I think the Ohio power bar is the best power bar even vs texas power bar, Eleiko power bars, and even vs specialty bars like iron wolfe bench bar ( when it comes to benching with OPB). When it comes to WEIGHTLIFTING barbells, the pendlays are super good, especially with pendlay bumpers, they fit so well, pendlay bumper plates fit amazing on all barbells though.
Hard to beat at price point the rogue Ohio ipf approved bar ... but the eleiko still beats it overall if price weren't an issue... Texas power bars imo aren't very good knurling to aggressive and to flexy if you're going to have to lift on platform on an eleiko or titex or similar ... titex is a good bar of you're in the States and can get hold of one they're close to an eleiko at less cash ... I've got an eleiko and I use a SS power bar (205k psi) for squats and bench in rack to keep knurling pristine on it ... it's just the business for ipf lifters
I can understand if you are saying that the Ohio Power Bar is the best value per dollar. If you don't bring price into the equation, the Eleiko is a better bar. Now, is it possible that you prefer Ohio to Eleiko? Sure.
@@GarageGymReviews I just received the Cap Barbell OB86PBCK and it is actually a great power bar. I'm sure it won't out perform a Texas PB, Ohio PB or anything Chris Duffin makes, but, for the price, it is freaking awesome.
I own a few Texas Power bars and picked up Rogues Ohio barbell last year. The Ohio barbell will do the job for the average person. My plan was to replace all our Texas power bars with the Ohio because they are cheaper and Rogue has great turn around time. I notice when I get up 400 plus on the bench press the Ohio bends strange and it feels like it’s gonna roll out of my hands. I also notice when deadlifting at 600 or higher something just feels off like it is rolling forward and weights tend to feel more difficult to pull. We pull with Texas deadlift bars at our gym as well but sometimes I want less aggressive knurling and a 28.5 diameter to work grip. I’ve powerlifting for 16 years (lifting 24) so I’m pretty picky with my barbells and notice slight differences other might not. We do like the Rogue Echo weightlifting barbells over the Pendlay weightlifting barbell. I didn’t see that happening but if the kids have a choice of weightlifting bars for clean max outs they do tend to choose the Rogue barbell. Most will clean between 185 to 225 pound range with a few hitting 275 pounds. Just thought I’d share my opinion.
Rogue is down the street from me. It's so nice to be able to just go and pick up a piece of equipment that you are wanting. It's a great company with excellent equipment.
What bar is the one hanging on the wall behind you to the far left, facing the viewer? That would be the one on your far right in the video. The one with the knurls in the middle. That's the one I currently have, and I'm just curious to the quality of that bar in your opinion. I've had that bar for almost 20 years now, and it held up very well under some very heavy useage. It only got a little corroded along the knurled grips where I bench the most and did some standing barbell curling for many years. It doesn't have a lot of spin on the ends so it's great for benching and is a very stiff bar. It's great for bench and squat. Terrible for deadlift.
I personally train for Olympic lifting and typically train with eleiko bars and plates with a guy whos training me ( all different ones ranging from training to competition bars). that being said I personally bought the rep fitness gladiator bar and love it. compared to the other oly bars from rogue at the same price the spin is much better. I think the first rogue barbell to match the spin is like double the price. I don't do bench very often but for squats, deads, clean and jerks and snatches ive loved this bar.
By Rogue 2.0 do you mean the Rogue Bella bar? Also which would you recommend between the Rogue Bella bar & the Womens Olympic Bar? Doing olympic lifting but will also use for the bar for all accessory & strength work in program such as squats, pulls, bench etc etc. I am in Australia so we don't have Fringe sports here.

1: almost none of these are in stock 2: some don't ship to where I live 3: they are like all one to 200 bucks more expensive than what you said for some reason 🤔
Hey Coop I noticed that you did not mention the American Barbell Bars. I own the stainless steel precision training bar and it is a awesome barbell. One thing that I like about it is that is a very quiet bar. I used to use the Rogue Ohio bar at my local gym, but it was really noisy. If you have neighbors the sound of dropping the bar can be annoying. I would like to purchase a second bar and my sights are set on the Rogue Ohio Cerakote bar or the AB Cerakote Training bar. Your thoughts and recommendations please. Thanks!
Hey Ed, I was looking at getting the stainless steel precision bar. Is it good for a multi-purpose bar such as oly lifts, presses (some of the bars really hurt the wrists on bench), deads, wods etc. Also, do the chromed sleeves hold up well? Coop mentioned his AB Training bar in chrome developed rust.
S L the only bad thing about the AB SS precision training bar is the Sleeves. They rust really fast. The rest of the bar is flawless but the sleeves, that’s one item they need to improve to make this the best bar out there. Still it is a good barbell and I love that is a quiet bar. If you can live with the rusty sleeves, I think it is ok.
Nice video but I kind of expected you to talk about a lot of barbells' pros and cons then present the best one for categories. Hearing what's not as great on some barbells is super helpful. And I guess you really didn't talk about the knurling - or why these have the best average knurling
I’ve been using Xtraining barbells and their associated plates and have had no problems. I do compete, I’ve used the Rouge base models up to the Eleiko competition bars. The best barbell for price, quality, and overall versatility is the Xtraining competition bar. You can get it around $230 (minus shipping), our gym has switched to these bars, and now a year and a half later these bars are holding up.
Be glad cuz ain't shi+ in stock rn. Why didn't you say the max capacity of em. How many bars do you have and how many do i need. All I can think of is one for curls one for bench one for deadlift and one for squat. Of course you can use different bars.. would you suggest that.
I literally just ordered the 0B86B barbell the other day for 109 dollars, im glad it was in stock and a really good price ! now i need to find plates in stock :/
This is a great video, I am looking for a second barbell, may go with the rogue.. I have a Texas power bar, it works good for me.. I would like to know your opinion on it? Thanks, have a great day.. cheers...
It's moderate humidity.. in the basement of an very old house, Texas bar has small amount of rust in the knurlling.. also that can be from the chalk as well.. I like to keep the price in the $300 dollar area
I just started getting things slowly for my first garage gym. The CAP barbell seems to have increased to $200. I came across a Rep Sabre barbell $150, do you have any experience with this company?
How about the Xmark Lumberjack? It costs the same as the CAP OB-86B and claims 700 lbs without deforming. The Amazon reviews on the OB-86B say that it bends on +400 lbs deadlifts/squats and the sleeves leave metal splinters. I'm eyeing the Lumberjack and the Wonderbar but the Lumberjack doesn't disclose tensile strength.
Stainless steel does not rust.It will if it was contaminated at the factory by someone with a grinder or buffing wheel by going too deep,or they were using on regular carbon steel, what happens is those metal shavings get embedded into the stainless steel which will cause it to rust.had they just used a new grinding or buffing wheel it wouldn't have happened. So if your spending a lot of money on stainless barbells and they rust, your getting taken advantage of and you should report this to the company you bought it from. Stainless and I mean real Stainless steel does not rust chromium oxide keeps it from doing that unless you strip that away or embed other steel particles into it.
Hello :) what is the coatage of the black bar plz ? Black zinc or e coat ? What is the blackest choice pls ? I know ecoat is shinny pretty much than the black zinc but it looks like pretty much dark i think ;)
i have been using a CAP barbell for a few years. abused it to the max, left it outside in the rain and elements and it still gets the job done. it got rusty and it doesn't even spin anymore but i'm not getting rid of it. the only thing i don't like is the knurling in the center, sometimes when doing cleans or power cleans it scratches my lower neck. Also, just purchased a rogue bar 2.0... so excited !!! so, after some research i figured it was the best barbell to get and you seem to agree. thanks for the video
The rogue bar has a nice grip and I used to use just the fat barbell which I didn’t mind. Then tried more slimmer ones and encountered the rogue barbell
Stainless steel does not rust, period! If one you had rusted, then it wasn't made a stainless steel. Which there can be reasons I'm sure as to why they can't make one out of pure stainless steel.
I bought a Vulcan One basic bar. It has 2 bronze bushings per sleeve and 190k psi tensile strength for $248. It is a fabulous bar for the quality that went into its construction such as excellent hard chrome finish and for outstanding maintenance. I don't think you can go wrong with one of these in your garage/basement gym for general purpose lifting.
Can someone please tell me what that wooden thing is below his rack? Ik it’s not recommended to drill into your concrete and I’m beginning to build my own home gym. I would appreciate it
Hey Coop, I just bought the Rogue Bar 2.0 based on your excellent review. After I received it I noticed a lot of of small machined "rings" along the sleeve. It creates a lot of friction when I put my Eleiko bumper plates on and off and when I touch it with my finger I see metal particles. I contacted Rogue and they said with metal to metal that's normal. I've only ever seen smooth sleeves on all the bars on base and at the commercial gyms.. is this normal?
My bench can only handle 300 pounds so a basic cheap bar is all i need and yes i bought one that can also only handle 300 pounds. If i want to do anything heavier then i will just do more reps.

Nice video but I kind of expected you to talk about a lot of barbells' pros and cons then present the best one for categories. Hearing what's not as great on some barbells is super helpful. And I guess you really didn't talk about the knurling - or why these have the best average knurling
Thanks for the video. I'm ordering the Cap barbell.
Nice! Enjoy it!
Just spent almost $400 on a new power bar for my home GYM set up.
Damnit.
Be glad cuz ain't shi+ in stock rn. I ordered a 300lb olympic weight set which includes the 7' bar and paid about $700 and i ordered in in mid July and the company i ordered it from is having problems finding anything to sell me. They don't even have what they sold me online. It's almost been 2 months.
Just bought a barbell for $450 Overpaid for it ? Yes. Worth it? Yes.
Treat yourself once in a while :)
That's ridiculous
Why didn't you say the max capacity of em.
How many bars do you have and how many do i need. All I can think of is one for curls one for bench one for deadlift and one for squat. Of course you can use different bars.. would you suggest that.
I heard the best bar is the buddy capp Texas bar do you have any of those.
Is the rogue echo the same as the rogue 2.0?? There’s so many bars. Lol!!
no, it's different
I literally just ordered the 0B86B barbell the other day for 109 dollars, im glad it was in stock and a really good price ! now i need to find plates in stock :/
Where did you find it? The prices are OUTRAGEOUS on Amazon right now.
Holy shit where I just got it for 200 ugh
@@ashleyjones719 I bought mine from the site fitness factory, but they are sold out now, I was lucky to get one of the last ones.
@@tehgusbus2716 after tax and shipping mine was 140
@@jacobb554 how do you like it
This is a great video, I am looking for a second barbell, may go with the rogue.. I have a Texas power bar, it works good for me.. I would like to know your opinion on it? Thanks, have a great day.. cheers...
What lifts are you wanting to use the bar for? Powerlifting, Oly, or just general fitness?
Basic strength movements, press, deadlifts, bench and squat..
galevonhaussen, how your humidity situation and do you mind maintenance?
It's moderate humidity.. in the basement of an very old house, Texas bar has small amount of rust in the knurlling.. also that can be from the chalk as well.. I like to keep the price in the $300 dollar area
Why is spin so important for a barbell?
I just started getting things slowly for my first garage gym. The CAP barbell seems to have increased to $200. I came across a Rep Sabre barbell $150, do you have any experience with this company?
What did you go with
Have u tried any bar by CFF (Christian fitness factory) ? I just bought their keystone barbell just wondering ur thoughts.
No Eleiko? :(
2 things
1. Why is RUclips auto-showing me this after a video I picked?
2. Why in the world do people use this kind of awful music for their videos?
Sucks. Now all all these cap bars are close to 200. Doesn't make sense when the bells of steel ir rogue boneyard bar is around 220-250.

i have been using a CAP barbell for a few years. abused it to the max, left it outside in the rain and elements and it still gets the job done. it got rusty and it doesn't even spin anymore but i'm not getting rid of it. the only thing i don't like is the knurling in the center, sometimes when doing cleans or power cleans it scratches my lower neck. Also, just purchased a rogue bar 2.0... so excited !!! so, after some research i figured it was the best barbell to get and you seem to agree. thanks for the video
I am a simple guy. I have a few cheap barbells and they work fine. I couldn’t see myself paying $200.00-300.00 for a barbell
Idk I think a bar is a bar as long as it's at least 45 Pounds. And I get rep out 225 on bench my 500 on dead lifts idk
Which bar feels better...Ohio bar in stainless steel or Ohio bar in cerakote?
SS
How's does the Rogue 2.0 compare to Fringesport's Bomba V2? Both are $255.00. Thanks.
I prefer the Rogue to the Bomba.
I went to the budget one 400😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑😑
The bar got some mixed reviews on amazon. I probably won't get it
Which are the best budget short Olympic barbells??? Some people don’t have a large space
I actually have one. They are a great basic bar for the price.
Exactly how do you bench if spinning plates is an issue?
Without the plates spinning
Elite Bison Barbell from Sqmize.... ATX Ram Bar... better bars for less money.
>do jefferson rack pull with 1000lbs
>bar snaps
>free vasectomy
Can someone please tell me what that wooden thing is below his rack? Ik it’s not recommended to drill into your concrete and I’m beginning to build my own home gym. I would appreciate it
You do the TSP stuff right? Weird that I randomly ran into one of you other videos.
Yessir, worlds collide!
Thanks for the video. I purchased the Echo bar Monday evening.
I am sorry he never saw this. I am curious too. Thanks for the heads up.
Whats the best type for bench press
Have you heard of the All American Fitness Bar? Would you like to try it out?
Whip doesn't really bother me for squats, extreme whip on bench is murder
I literally just got into fitness and was expecting bars to be like £50-150 🤦♂️😂 my bank isn’t going to like this hobby
In the long run it's cheaper than going to the gym.
The Fringesport bar is now over $300. Getting into Rogue teratory, there.
Please learn to get to the point
Do you even lift bro
My bench can only handle 300 pounds so a basic cheap bar is all i need and yes i bought one that can also only handle 300 pounds. If i want to do anything heavier then i will just do more reps.
Oh My God! LOVE this vid! Please do one for women solely. We have smaller hands etc. Now I want my own gym!
Look for something with a 25mm shaft. Smaller for female hands.
Is it okay to train with a barbell w/ 28mm shaft in a powerlifter way?
AoA Bars , Schnell , but for general and cheap use cant beat AMD
