I needed this video. I get SO disheartened watching all of the RUclips curly girls’ videos. My hair is fine on day 1, but the rest of the days are a complete crapshoot. It made/makes me want to just give up and straighten it, but I guess it just takes some creativity on days 2 through however long you can stretch it. The uncertainty! So nerve racking lol

This is exactly how my hair is. Same length same curl type. Only difference is I'm a natural red head. I thought there was something wrong with me because my hair will only last about 3 days depending on how careful I am with it during the week. These RUclips videos and Instagram will have your ass fooled. So thank you for this honest ass video! Now I know it's totally normal. It's just the way it is. I watch all your videos to the point that my children know your name! Haha like "Mom, Jayme jo again!" I have to agree, by day 2 my long curls are already stretched out. I didnt have this issue when it was shorter. I'm at the gym for an hour though, also have to walk my dog for 2 hours. I wish there was way to make my curls last through all my physical activities.
I’ve been struggling with having frizz when I’m styling my hair on wash day, is that normal? I just feel like I see everyone with no frizz while styling it. I’ve been told my hair is dry but idk what’s best to use for it
I brush my hair through with leave in conditioner and only style with the prayer hands method (not raking through). If I don't brush my hair after washing it, it's soo frizzy and will not form curls correctly

@@languidcreature2345 I would use leave-in conditioner, it's saved me a lot of frizz, especially after day 2! Depending on your curl type, I would also use some sort of cream and/or foam and/or gel. If you only got one single product, I'd go with leave-in (then foam, then gel, then cream, but then again I have finer hair so cream can be too much for my hair). Prayer hands means putting your palms together like in a prayer (flat hands) with product between the hands and applying it on the hair like that, not getting your fingers into your hair (raking) and possibly destroying the curl structur and definition:)

Apologies if this is a stupid question... I'm a man with very long, curly hair, and I definitely don't know everything there is to know. I'm trying to learn and get better at taking care of my hair. I'm always a bit confused when girls talk about not washing their hair every day, or even every other day, etc. Does this mean that when you go to take a shower, you're just keeping your hair up in a shower cap and keeping it dry (and then instead, using whichever methods you mentioned in this video to style it on those days)? Or am I completely missing the mark? Every time I step in the shower, I just wet my hair, you know? Thanks for any help and clarification :) Sorry for my ignorance!
No stupid questions since everyone started where you are at some point. Usually, those with longer hair will just clip it up and out of the direct spray. Shower cap is good for preventing frizz but not necessary. Then you can refresh after. The reason you don’t want to wash every day is that curly hair is actually more open because the curves fan out the cuticle. It loses moisture and needs oil to close it up a bit. If you wash every day, your natural oils don’t make it down and then the hair dries out. It’s just about keeping the moisture in balance. When it comes down to it, you’ll figure out what works best as you go.
Should have noted, I’m a fine haired curly girl of 40 years in a family of wavies who had to figure it out when everything was heavy weight and silicone heavy and thinning was a thing no matter the texture. Had some seriously bad hair days. Good luck to you

I would use some sort of creme after day 2, just to get some hold! I feel like with only conditioner, it gets less defined every day so I stick to something that redefines my curl pattern. If you really only have conditioner, maybe try finger coiling your hair when applying it? I find that this helps with my problem areas

Love your honesty and beautiful curls. Ugh, I notice that with my hair getting longer, it is not keeping moisture/styles as long as it did when it was shorter. I could go two weeks with like one refresh day but now? Um, lucky to get four days w/o refreshing. If I wait two weeks to wash, and only do one refresh, my hair will cuss me all the way out. So many of us curly girls want length but reality hits you hard when you realize length can also = drier hair (bc the oil has even more spirals, coils, and kinks to get through in order to cover your whole length), using more products, longer time spent on hair, arms more tired, bangs too long, more cleansing, more treatments, keeping a closer eye on what your porosity is doing, researching more natural hair care bc going through a whole jar of product just for a ONE protein treatment is costly-better thrown $4.00 yogurt up there and call it a day......just more T.T And if you've incorporated exercise into your life 😆😆😆you silly human, welcome to hair Hades
