An even better way of capturing tasks from outlook: In outlook for the web, in the top right click Todo pane. From there you can drag your email into Todo, that creates a task right there, you can drag it straight into your list already, no need to sort, it's quicker to rename the task to as the task gets set by the subject line of the email

Good tips! Thanks for sharing Tommy.

Hi! Good tip, but that interface doesn't give me the option to add a due date?? With both options, I still need to go into ToDo, find the task and either rename or add the date. So for now I continue with my favourite shortcut in the Outlook client: CTRL+SHFT+1 to create a task with the mail included, write an actionable task name and add due date.

@@vincevansteen2753 It sure does, just right click the task and all the options come up 👍

Do you then archive email or move it out of inbox?

@@chaskinsnc Archive it. I always keep my inbox clean once I have the task/action/information out of the inbox

Nice Video, i have a lot of tasks in a SharePoint online list AND Azure DevOps, is there a way to sync them aswell?

    • @CollaborationCoach
      @CollaborationCoach  2 года назад +1

No it's not 'native' in To Do to sync those items.
I just tested creating a PowerAutomate flow that will add the list item in SharePoint to To Do. You can do the same with Azure Devops (although the Devops triggers are a premium feature, so you have to pay a extra). You would also probably want to build the flow that updates the items in Azure and SharePoint when they are complete in To Do.

Can "To Do" items, aka 'Tasks, be fed to the main SPoint landing page as a 'news' feed?
    Thank you ...

Yes you can! Using the new Viva Connections dashboards. docs.microsoft.com/en-us/viva/connections/create-dashboard

I used to love To Do but found that tasks would disappear even though not completed. Until Microsoft address that then I find I just cannot trust it anymore for projects where tasks are long standing items.

After a pause of nearly 2 years I have started to return back to MS To-do (simple set-up, cross-platform capability)… but can’t get the email integration with Outlook to work. Even though I have signed into the same personal MS 365 account on all my devices (Windows and MacBook laptops, iPads and iPhone). In the settings I have the planner, but not the email option… any pointers?

      Microsoft says :
"To manage your flagged email directly in Microsoft To Do, sign in with the same work, school, or personal Microsoft account that you use for email.  Note: This feature is only available if you’re using an account that’s hosted by Microsoft, such as an Outlook.com, Hotmail.com, or Live.com account. It’s also available if you’re using an account hosted by Microsoft but using a custom domain. "
Are you using Microsoft hosted email?

@@CollaborationCoach …well, this limitation to Microsoft hosted emails explains it. Outlook is my email client, but have been using the email from my ISP. Had a hotmail account for a while, but there was a strong suspicion that it had been hacked… and I closed it down. Thanks for the pointer! Really appreciated!

Too bad, there's no integration for Google Tasks.

Typing task from the bottom seems wrong

Agree. In the browser version now you do type from the top, so maybe the Windows app will change that way in the future.

To Do is a rubbish. No direct connection to Outlook calendar. Untill a task is planned in the calendar it won't be done. Reminders don't work and are useless. Then there is a planner... with bad integration and features. MS is not doing a good job.
