- A little wednesday morning blooze for ya on two different '63 birds.
Very special thanks to dearest Lin Crowson at Gruhn Guitars for breathing some new life into this wounded old bird.
Dig this great old 90's power pop....getting guitars THIS loud in a mix where they don't hurt at all is no easy feat. Brilliant track
• Helpless
go to www.ziggysartstudio if you want to check out one of the rad limited edition prints he drew up to commemorate episode 250

A lot of these very same new viewers don't seem to know that Uncle Larry made a couple records that they could potentially listen to...
one is an instrumental solo record called "Plexi Soul" that is available here:
tombukovac.bandcamp.com/album...
another is an instrumental collaboration with his dear friend Dean Deleo (originally from the Stone Temple Pilots organization) that is available here:
tripthewitch.bandcamp.com/alb...
The acoustic properties of the older firebird is unaffected because of the lack of an additional pickup under it, (Only one pickup) causing it to ring louder. ????? (More wood surface/depth). The 5 has more rigidity because of the extra metal/pickup. It can't respond as openly (freely). Plus, the 5 has additional routing/wiring (obviously) for the additional pickup. Lack of wood, less resonance. This is all a guess. I'm no engineer.
PLEASE do NOT mess (Delete) with the history or the "Bukovac Archives". That would be a sin, loss and tragedy. We love ya brother. AND all your old videos.
People just LOVE to think that about single pickup guitars hahaa
It’s a totally unproven crowd favorite myth amongst pretty much all guitar players
Maybe it’s not that at all…maybe it’s just a better guitar? Hmmm
@@501chorusecho I DID say I wasn't an engineer and I have no lab. ;-) Sometimes, "magic" just can't be explained!
@cowboy7x I commented similarly yesterday, I agree there are probably multiple reasons the I is louder. Just not having all that extra metal on it is a big factor. One way to find out would be to take everything off the V that the other one doesn’t have and give it a go. Then it’s down to voodoo. I’m not an engineer either, but I look like one. 🚂
I am convinced it is something to do with the old wood. As in, trees that were from a much healthier earth, growing longer and stronger, and just being a better quality in general. And then there is the materials used in making the rest of the parts, which was also probably done with some care and personal pride in the work, whatever it may have been, down to the screws. But I don't think the quality of wood will ever be the same in many many generations, if ever, with this nutrient-stripped poisoned earth/soil and the way things are manufactured now. I have no scientific data to support what I am saying btw... just what I think it probably is.
@@JerboFotius That all sounds good except you can take two identical 'modern' guitars with non "old growth" wood and one will ring to the heavens acoustically and the other won't. It MAY be the wood, but I don't think the age of the wood, always has something to do with it. No scientific data here either, BTW, but, like I said before, sometimes you can't put "magic" in a lab. ;-)
Dear Tom, please do not delete any videos! There is no such thing as the oversaturation of good talented musicians sharing their art in youtube. I follow you from the start and it has been such a pleasure! You are such a great humble human being, and your videos always bring something good for your audience!
Humble??? 😂😂😂😂😂
Dear Tom, please don't delete any videos. There's always something new to discover.
Please don’t delete any vids!! Make the 250 your only playlist…my 2 cents worth.
Seriously; it’s going to take me some time to go back and practice this stuff and get it engrained. I go back often and find gold, it would suck to lose em.
Same I go back to watch old stuff all the time. Love the studio extras and bonus vids
Me too brothers, I often go back , play and repeat vids from months to a a couple years ago.. it’s the only way to Homeskool.
Don’t delete, please. The little ones, those are our bonuses.
@@stavrou0Same! It's like extra credit for homeskoolin'! 😊
Please don’t delete any of these videos. They are a rich seam of guitar gold. Please Uncle Larry, we beg you.
I heard you never delete videos...in time its $$$
YES, please DO NOT Delete any of your videos. Playlist idea is great one. You deleting any of your videos is going to stress me out 😆
You really have been a gift to us all.
Please don’t stop.
🍻
Please don't delete - save them to a separate play list, "Midnight Dropbox", then leave the numbered episodes all clean and lovely. Your videos get better and better, and now feature biscuit recommendations.
Yum…… Biscuits!😎
I say don’t delete anything-. certainly not any of the episodes, but honestly some of the bonus jams are things I go back to repeatedly
Please don’t delete any videos. I’ve found so many of them inspiring and useful to revisit. And each new episode welcomes like an oasis in my trek through the desert. thank you!
Please don't delete any videos! They are all so good and so very informative ! Please Please!!
Yeah Buk that bird sounds so good acoustically… please don’t delete any of your videos they really are amazing and we all value them so much…
Please don’t delete any videos!! I mean, it’s your channel and you can do what you want, but man, this channel is the best thing for guitar since the guitar, and it would be a tragedy to lose any of it. There are nuggets of musical treasure hidden in many of the non-numbered videos.
No such thing as over saturation with Uncle Larry! Love all the videos, amazing guests and stories.
Don’t delete your videos man. They all mean something special I think. Although a few of the first ones you have don’t have audio anymore…
The Homeskoolin bonus vids are so rich with golden Uncle Larry guitar melodies and genuine gems that they are often the highlight of my day....Please dont delete these amazing windows into Tom Bukovac's musical mind, heart and plexi soul...
Hey Tom, please don’t delete anything man…. Please don’t. I go back and watch old episodes often and remember when they were posted and how crappy things were then, and how awesome it was to have someone like you spreading positivity or sharing in our sorrows, giving music from yourself for us to enjoy.
Just being able to go back and watch the episodes with Gordon like “Peeeanna Man” (I can remember if it was an episode or not, to me it doesn’t matter, it’s killer!!) All the candid times with Vince, Dan Huff, the guys at Gruhn’s, Joe Glaser, all these cats man. You can’t delete that stuff can you? Please don’t.
I enjoy your content, I enjoy supporting what you do here, and I’m sure there’s lots more folks from around the country that do too. Please, Uncle Larry, save the videos…..
Tommy, do it for the kids…… ❤️🫡👍🏻✌️
All your videos MUST be protected as one of the most precious musical treasure on this planet!
Please don’t delete old videos if possible / practical. Your videos helped me get through the pandemic and really improved my playing, too - love going to the “old stuff” from time to time.
Don't delete any videos please. Your version of Turn it on Turn it on Again brought tears to my eyes. Also, I just watched the same documentary, I dig Bob Mould. Sugar was good, but his first solo record "Workbook" is a favorite.
Hopefully someone archives the videos you decide to pull because IMO every video, episode or not, is entertaining and informative.
That Bob Mould track is smokin. All of his post-Husker Du work is such great songwriting, and the guitar sounds are so deep and wide. Perfect power pop.
Tom please don't take down any of your bonus jams! Obviously its not our channel but I have so much more to pick out of those bonus jams..There are days when the only thing I listen to at the jobsite are cranked homeskoolin' bonus jams. I would probably cry if I woke up and they were gone! I'm about to start downloading all of them.... if you guys are new and reading this go check out his "honky-tonk neon Saturday night special" bonus jam.....
Edit: Damn how many times did I say bonus jam? Is it sounding weird yet?
Please, no deletes. I go back and listen and jam with a lot of the earlier videos.
Dude… that intro was straight up raunchy. Gave me stank face for days.
The Replacements were my life for a while. Westerberg is SUCH a great songwriter...even on to his solo stuff.
Love Bob and Sugar also.
Please for the love of god do not delete any vids! I regularly go back to those garage vids to pick up new tricks.
Love your stuff - don’t change or delete a thing sir!
Wow, I havent listened to that Sugar song in, probably like you, over 25 years! Used to love that Copper Blue cassette! Lol. And PLEASE DO NOT DELETE VIDEOS!! WHY WOULD YOU?!
please do not delete any vids. I go back and re-live history........ Plus some of the old vids have killer stuff
Don't delete the videos, just put them into a playlist.
Sounded fantastic. Its a keeper!!! Please do not delete any videos they have reference value for later on down the line.
Please don't delete any vids! If you must, please keep "Sky Diving", IMHO one of your best stream of consciousness jams ever.
I'll join in and ask you to please keep all of these videos available Tom! I'll be working on this stuff for the next 20 years.
Dearest Tom, please don’t delete!! Been watching for 3 years from a recommendation from Chris Roberts here in Nashville. (We worked at Gibson together) and i am constantly going back to watch some of my favorite clips of you sharing your music and it has inspired me so much!!
Hey Tom, Loved the comment about the house you used to own, the one you worked your whole life to pay for. You are not alone in that one.
Man, that Sugar record "Copper Blue". absolutely ruled. Talk about loud but melodic guitars. Love 'em! Great call, Tommy.
Hey Tom. I had tears in my eyes watching you play ‘what’s love got to do with it’ with the girls at the Irsay gig recently. From where this grateful viewer sits, the world is a better place when we have access to moments like that!
You blow my mind dude when you think of a song, any song, and then note for note it!! Incredible mind! Please consider not deleting any videos? Maybe a second channel to stick the old stuff for those of us who like all that stuff..
I love the fact that in Nashville, in the capital of music, from country to Americana, the most popular session player is a prog freak, lover of arpeggios, exotic revolts, glam rock, the British sound. Beautiful music is beautiful everywhere, and Uncle Larry has a cosmopolitan flavour, but then getting your hands on an I - IV - V progression with such a background perhaps only makes everything more intelligent and musically interesting. Maybe this helps to focus more on your work and what a song needs?
No please! Put the videos aside in a playlist so we can go back in the days to come… keep it all! ( in my humble opinion…) 😎
Hey Larry, I thought more about you touring, and I'm willing to bet if you and some of your nashville friends did a quick week-long loop of the southeast, you would sell out every bar. Plenty of fans watching the show. And please come to Tallahassee if you do.
Been rewatching your videos starting from the oldest to newest. Nice to hear you smearing notes and standing them fingers up for extra note ringing still to this day. That bird sounds righteous too
i go back and listen to all those glorious tones 😊
Yes, those Walkers rule. Probably don't want to make a habit of 'em though. Addicting.
That Firebird gives me the fizz.
Hey Tom! I think the way you take care of older guitars and make them the best they can be is such a cool thing to do. I wonder how many people own a once in a lifetime guitar that you once refurbished.
Please don’t delete anything! Combined with your “blog” indexing all of your videos by topic, I view them as a library that I can use to find any topic you’ve ever presented online. I even have my 14 year old grandson, who is progressing amazingly on the guitar, using that blog to reference whatever he’s working on. Over-saturation to you is a valuable reference library to us! Please don’t cut it back! 🥰
I agree with so many others, don’t delete any videos. Each one is part of a wonderful archive, a time capsule of sorts. And people will continue to discover them anew, even if the pace of viewing slows. Your channel is unique among so many channels.
If Rolling Stone magazine was an actual music magazine… Little Tommy would be in the top 50 greatest players.
Hey Tom, I just don't want you to stop MAKING videos. I've grown to really love your channel, and this community you have built. I feel at home here, thanks. And... I'm a much better guitar player now.
The Cure is one of the best kept open secrets in guitar riffs and gear. Nothing fancy but boss pedals through a jazz chorus. Jazzmasters with teisco pickups in the middle and bass VIs and he made it work so well.
Love these Firebird episodes Uncle L !! Great Stuff ! I hope you don't delete any old clips. Sometimes they hit just the right spot on a chilly Autumn day. Thank you for the Achilles Last Stand intro = a phrase that could go on forever ! Best Wishes from John
Excellent. Thank you.
Tom, please don't delete any old vids we love them and we love you!
NOOOOOO! Please don’t delete the videos!!😩😩😩😩
Shortbread is life! And those birds sound amazing.
that birds sounds amazing matey , looking forward to getting me LP
Thanks again Uncle Larry. Much respect...
No way Uncle Larry! Your playing segments are in the top 2% of all in recorded history! Present and future should here the magic
Please do not delete any videos. I love the bonus jam videos and watch them over and over.
Much love from CLE Uncle Larry! I find all of your videos very entertaining and I have learned a lot from you as a musician. Thanks!
That's a BEAUTIFUL looking and sounding bird(s)!!! Thanks for sharing!
LOL, the never-ending bucket of licks, gently poured out for our listening pleasure. Thanks Uncle.
Dear Tom, thank you not only the guitar content, but for the life lessons and inspiration that you share wish us it is truly wonderful and touches my heart and soul, with much love and respect, John Ashton
As a Minneapolitan, I’ve always bristled a little at the whole “Minneapolis Sound” (Prince/Jimmy Jam/Terry Lewis/et. al.). No disrespect to those guys, but the Placemats, Hüsker Dü, Soul Asylum, Semisonic, The Jayhawks,The Suburbs…really a strong tradition of rock and roll songwriters up here. That felt more like the Minneapolis I grew up in. Also if you find yourself up in the NICE AND COLD north, you’ve for sure got a beer of your choice waiting for you.
And in the '60s it was bands like The Gestures, The Underbeats, The Trashmen, and The Castaways, to name a few.
@@angryshoebox also Bobby Vee, whose family is still super active around the Twin Cities.
Shoutout to the Jayhawks! Great songs and they always have killer guitars and tones.
Beautiful work on that former “basket case.” Sounds incredible.
BIRD DAY!! Tom you "stank" up YT with that Funky .... blues....killer intro. The acoustic abilities of that new bird are outstanding - what a peach - sounds better than my acoustics....ha... Cheers Tom you made my day!!
Wow! They did a great job on the Firebird, sounds great!
How damn good was Collins voice, aye?! Almost scary good live. ‘Mama’ live in the late 80’s…mind blowing. Love your work Uncle Larry!
somehow I felt the basket bird was something special glad it's back sounds great
Godammit Tom….. you’re sounding too good. Even 3 notes in, it’s to die for.
I wanna thank you for reminding me of all that great music i grew up with. The last couple of days I've digin deep into Genesis. I remember that live Genesis Album 1973 wih" Watcher of the Skies" omg I think it was probably a eight track I had. I just loved all that great progy shit . YES, ELP, GENESIS, KING CRIMSON, Did you ever hear of LUCIFER'S' FRIEND ?
dude...who you talkin to here?
Just, Thanks, Larry Tom Buk!
Good god!!! That birds soars in your hands!
Love this post! Can’t wait until I get my copy of Plexi Soul!!!
✌️❤️🎵
Tom, once again you open doors to music I had not heard before, I bought the Sugar "Copper blue" album, excellent....so looking forwarding to getting the Buk-Guthrie record...Best wishes.
Seeing your face when you're really into "it", makes me want to film my face while making a landing in difficult conditions after an 18 hour flight
That's a swampy sounding Bird! Great honkin' Southern rock machine!
That video of Turn it on Again was a staple of early Mtv...never seen it played on guitar before so thank you Tom...and for some reason I've been listening to Ziggy alot recently...Great Album...and ADD is a gift!
Guitar sounds great..
Your videos are amazing, and a history of the lost years of cv19
Achilles' Last Stand! Yes! The guitar and the playing sound amazing as always, Tom. Sending aloha from Hawaii.
And, please don't delete any episodes!
I just listened to Nursery Cryme the other day and now I have to go listen to Duke. I havent listened to that one in a bit. Thanks for the reminder. Also, I love the Replacements. One of my faves from that whole era. I live outside Minneapolis and know all the old bars they used to play at back in the day. Paul Westerberg is still around here too and goes out to shows occasionally. Take care Larry.
as usual, you are playing it like you mean it! they are your videos. don't delete please. you can sell them someway surely. great tone and touch always!
Firebirds and Oriole birds, my two favorite birds! Sugar was awesome too!
Dude, love the videos… leave it alone. As you were.
Agreed with the comments below on keeping the vids. You said something the other day about "I will get to making some new stuff" when you were talking about the Vinyl Plexi Soul....and my first thought was "My goodness, you give us great new stuff constantly"!!! I have used your vids from months to years back as I am working on a technique or getting better with a certain feel/vibe. (I know you mentioned just the non episodes, but those have gems in them too!) Immensely helpful!! Thus, I will keep sending tips to the tip jar!!! Thanks good Uncle!~
Tom, diggin that haircut man. Your stylist takes instruction well! 😉
Amazing Firebird 1 Uncle!! I replaced the bridge in my 63’ LP Junior (one P90) with a MCB. Fantastic result in sound and tuning. Thank you for the MCB and all the inspiering videoes:)
Hey Tom, just listened to that track by Sugar. The guitar was blistering on my tiny phone speaker. I can only imagine what that mix would sound like with some cans on in the studio! Wow thanks uncle larry great track 👍
A madman sitting in his kitchen, amp cranked up shredding otherworldly guitars while the world listens...a very heartfelt thank-you Tom for all you have gifted us over all these crazy years.
Keep it all Uncle! Seriously this is a treasure trove of tone goodness.
Uncle Larry, you are the dude! Bad…ace…Thank you so much for a great place to hang.
🎸🔥👍🍻🏈
The location of the wood from the tree has a lot to do with it (closer to the trunk vs closer to the top, etc.). Then, grain orientation (quartersawn vs plain sawn), Lastly, no two trees ever sound the same. Still, there are endless other factors.
Thanks, for all your content, and seems like I met you at Joe Glaser's in the early 2000's. I used to live in Franklin, and was building guitars, songwriting, etc.
Marc
My favs out of uncle Larry's collection 😊😊💕💕💕🎸🎸
Tom, I love it when you sing , it’s so authentic! I’m not joking around. Just do your thing.
❤❤noooooo leave ALL videos as they are Tom
Got to love that Midwest sarcasm! 😂 Those guitars are bringing the tone of Steve Gaines back to life! Southern Rock God tone at its finest! ❤🤟
hey uncle Larry. How you don't have a million subscribers from music lovers alone is beyond me. Hope you're having a kick ass day. Thanks! 🔥
"Achilles Last Stand"- love it!
Presence is highly underrated...
Tom I just heard your video “off my mind” just beautiful and your voice is perfect , that’s the kind of music you play for your gal your making dinner for , you know the old days anyway thanks I’ve heard most but I had missed that one, it made memory’s
Jesus, the bird came out pretty good! I regularly go back and watch the early videos. Snow here in Canada last night too.
I’m in the States and mowed my lawn at 20 degrees F just before our first snow. 70F to 20F drop is hard on this old carcass!
