nah. his down fall began with his betrayal of lagatha. ragnar should have never tried to have a 2nd wife. lagatha probably would have been ok with bastard children from auslaug so long as he never legitimized auslaug to lagatha's position of wife. she left him and everything just went to shit for ragnar rest of the way.
