Ngl i cried when Ragnar tried to be hopeful saying maybe your God will let me come visit you...😢
Wow😢
Athelstan was like the fountain of knowledge to Ragnar, he opened doors to his mind that no long ship, no march, no conquering could ever open.
Well said Steve
Ragnar:”I hate you for leaving!”
Athelstan:”wasn’t really my choice bud.”
It was tho. Athelstan converted back to Christianity therefore he’ll go to heaven and Ragnar will go to Valhalla. He’s referring to after death
@@younghiroshima1383these mfers definitly ain't going to heaven💀
😂😂😂 Yes! That was great!
"We will never meet again, my friend.." he knows that they won't, since they've had different kind of afterlife..
He's not sayin these for death of his northern men, cause he'd sure they'll meet again in Valhalla..
"for I feel your God would oppose me visiting you in heaven". They left the rest of the quote out, for some reason
Ragnar is an atheist by the end of his life
@@stevez7530yeah no idea why they took that out, that line is such an emotional blow
Just because Floki believed he was right at the time does not mean he believed it forever. Imagine being Floki and watching what happened to Ragnar after. I was so angry at Floki for this for so long and these shorts have reminded me how hard Floki tried to please Ragnar again after that and the look of defeat and pain that slowly grew in Floki. Ragnar never stopped loving Floki I think but also never loved him the same again and Floki knew that.
Truth!!! Ragnar never ever recovered from Athelstan’s death, they were soulmates whether u like to ship romantically or platonically, they were soul mates non the less and Floki never understood that. Floki didn’t get the fact that Ragnar could in fact love them both. Floki did what he did out of jealousy and used the gods as an excuse thinking Ragnar would be like oh ok then I get it. The only character I hated more than Floki was Aslaug!!!
He loved him as more than a friend in my opinion.
The scene where Ragnar said goodbye to floki shows he still loves floki
😂😂@@bethanne1221
@@bethanne1221vikings fans are oddballs sometimes such as yourself because wdf is this. And ragnar loved floki the same just was very disappointed and you can't say floki did it out of jealousy when there's no true signs of flokis jealousy beforehand.
The acting in this show was absolute top tier.
Nobody understood just how much Athelstan meant to Ragnar - how big of a part of his life he had become.. yes, they may have shared different religious ideas, hence why Ragnar said "we will never meet again, my friend..", but they had become such close friends regardless.. and nobody understood that :(
Let's see. "You destroy all of my people, and enslave me?! Yes, we are friends"
@5orgen51 If you think that's how Athelstan felt then you must only be at the start of Season 1
@@JamesMerlautfor real though, this dude has to be just starting the show
Broke down when he met his son and Alfred even named Hvitserk after him 😢😢
I genuinely doubt you understood it yourself since you failed to elaborate.
The look ragnar gives when he said he would do it again, travis fucking killed this role
think that every time I watch it. I read it as multiple emotions hitting at once: fighting the urge to kill Floki, knowing that he loves Floki, and anguish that Floki seems to truly believe what he did was right.
Unlike others, I genuinely think Floki was trying to save him. We’ve seen how he relishes kills, smiles covered in blood and loves torture. There was none of that when he killed him. It almost looked like he had tears in his eyes, and he didn’t look proud of his accomplishment.
I will admit I don’t think the tears were for the priest (totally don’t remember how to spell his name). I think those tears were because he knew it was going to hurt Ragnar. That’s how much he loved his friend.
Athelstan was the MVP...RIP soldier, you made your Father proud.
All Floki wanted from Ragnar was not to be pushed away. Floki did everything for him. But killing Athelstan wasn’t the answer.
Don’t push people away, it hurts.
The greatest love story in Vikings Ragnar and Athelstan
Don't forget Ecbert
It had nothing to do with the gods. He was so jealous of the friendship that he chose this.
The greatest love triangle of all time, and it was a plutonic love of brothers, not a sexual romance.
This is the one that actually broke Ragnar.
That is betrayal Floki... you just told Ragnar he was weak and had no faith in the gods.
When in reality Ragnar enjoyed debating his Gods and Athelstans God and their nature.
Always seeking more knowledge as Odin would.
Floki only showed he had no faith in his own gods himself by being so scared of another's.
First episode, Ragnar said he would give much more than an eye for knowledge
Yes! Ragnar was a smart man and was not small minded like Floki.
I love how he buried Athelstan as close to Christ God as he could.
"I am changed", this scene broke me
Aside from Ivar and Ragnar. I loved Floki the most....I understood why he was so jealous. He felt Ragnar had abandoned him which in a way he pushed Floki away. But Floki was wrong for killing Athelstat
No he was right. Always hated Athelstan
@Vincent I agree but when it comes to there friendship Ragnar didn't see that way
@@vincent-ataramaniko That doesn't make it okay to kill someone. You have some major issues that you need to fix. There is never an excuse to murder someone.
@Stevvv yeah bs on that. Floki loved Ragnar, and constantly lashed out at athelstan whenever ragnar showed him any favor. The gods were an excuse for Floki, he just wanted to end the object of his jealousy.
@@HelloThere..... So people that sexually assault women and children don't deserve to die ? There's always an excuse to kill someone because we live in a evil world and there will always be monsters that need to be dealt with.
Great tune, the perfect artist to do this song.....
Athelstan is my favourite after ragnar, ill never forgive floki
False god worshipping thats why
Maybe it sounds strange but these shorts have just caused me to start to forgive Floki for that. Floki knows Ragnar so well and I always felt Ragnar was never the same after this but looking back I think Floki could see and feel that too and it ate at him forever. I can't help but wonder if living to such an old age began to feel like a punishment from the God's to Floki for what he did.
Floki loved Ragnar
Ragnar love Floki and Athelstat, Floki and Athelstat love Ragnar too. But Floki, love his God too much.
That's crap! Floki was correct. Ragnar was in the wrong to consider other gods
What season is this on vikings show
This destroyed Ragnar...😠
It did. Ragnar started dying that moment
Yes!! Athelstan was the one loss that completely broke Ragnar
It looks like it hurt floki to kill him. He had tears in his eyes. Cuz I think in a way he respected him. But thought he had to do it for Ragnar.
No Floki hated athelstan but he knew how much it would hurt Ragnar to lose him floki was jealous of their relationship and hated his religion even more and thought it was corrupting his best friend Floki is cry because he knows he would be hurting Ragnar in 2 of the worse way to hurt Ragnar.
Which is 1: Killing a family member
2:Betraying his trust
Floki did both in one go and Ragnar loves Floki so much he couldn’t even bring himself to kill Floki for what he did or to even punish him it was only until he had no choice but to do so that he did and even then wasn’t as bad as it could have been
I think losing Athelstan broke Ragnar. He was never the same afterwards.
Ragnar has had many heartbreaks
Athelstan was the last straw, that was the time Ragnar truly lost it. And then when he found out about Rollo, he spiraled
Floki was afraid of being replaced that's why he killed althatsa
Perfect song selection...bravo
Spoiler:
I cried when we saw Floki again.
Oh my we Will never meet again not even in the After Life ,i Just noticed. That's more awful than Just losing someone
He never recovered from this...
I don’t why they all went betraying him even his own sons.
Floki just told him why “saving you from a false god”
He's son never betrayed him
Noooooo 😢
"You didn't invite me to your wedding"😢
so sad...
Right scenes, wrong music lol
Yea these are pretty bad broken hearts but that first one when he watched Lagertha and Bjorn leave. Mans eyes looked like he was completely destroyed.
No Flokie was Strong with the Gods
One parts thas the killing Racknar.. anteltam everi the best friends AND your hold brothers in the your lifft
In last season FLOKI ended up losing faith in his and other religions.
Athelstan death completely broke Ragnar
He killed him because he was jealous.
❤
Run a spell checker when you add subtitles
Floki was the unwavering friend and a true viking.
In the end floki was jealous of Ragnars friendship w/Athelstan..
Ultimately thats what led to his death.
Ragnar was betrayed by all his closest
Floki totally betrayed him, and me as a fan
I remember every day...its hard...my fallen brothers from Ukraine, may God have you in a good place, your sacrifice won't be in vain 🙏💯,Slava Ukraine💪
Some people fear what they don't understand.
And some people are jus jelly 🤷♂️
whats the name of the song
Hurt by Johnny cash. This is actually one of his last songs before passing away as his wife passed that same year he made this song.
Wasn’t the whole floki killing Athelstan thing with all the visions he was getting etc supposed to be Loki? As after it all Floki was a different person and wanted away from everyone, as if Loki was no longer manipulating him.
Nah... I mean, I get it, but nah, the show had zero mythos or actual spiritual magic stuff. It's all how it's interpreted. But, ultimately, Floki was jealous. It was a plutonic love triangle.
No matter how many of Ragnar's loved ones died and how complimentable his character is, I still cant feel sorry for him. Its hypocritical for him to mourn any death when he pillaged and killed men he never even knew.
Plus, even if Norse allowed raids, the average human feels guilt for killing, even meaningful. Deserved Aelle's punishment
and when he got baptized to meet his friend when he'd d*e 😢
In many ways, Floki killed Ragnar.
Any idea what this song is called
“Hurt” -Johnny cash
Paganisms bad em kay
Floki was terrified that Odin or Freya would not accept Ragnar into their halls because Athelstan was tempting him from them. When you view it like that it is no different than all the Christian/Islam/Judaism crusades that massacred billions of people.
Floki was mad he never believed what he was doing was right.
It annoys me how much people love Floki given his actions
Fiquei com ódio de Floki
"I saved you from a false God" - if only there had been more Floki's maybe the world wouldn't be fighting over the delusions of those false Middle Eastern fantasy stories now.
