Rollo was a lot more interesting. Aside from being fictional, Ragnar was pretty boring. In fact, the show had to take exploits of other characters and turn them into Ragnar's achievements. @@brohanfromrohan5771 Whether or not Ragnar was fictional is still a matter of debate. Whether he was real or not, we'll most likely never know.
This not his tomb, it is called a « gisant » in french and 90% of the time these gisants are empty and are present in these places only for symbolic reasons and memory. This one is empty.
(king Alfred "the great" of England).
Alfred était le fils de King Ethelwulf Of Wessex et le petit fils de King Egbert Of Wessex.

"Rollo, you have betrayed your own kind!"
Almost every record confirms it. He came as a Viking and then he fought off the Vikings.
@@vickycrewfuller yes I know. It's a very interesting part of history and thank you for sharing the video. My comment was a refference to the show, there's a scene where a viking screams this to him when he goes back to betray them.
where is the sound
There is sound, but he is speaking quietly to be respectful of that fact its a functioning religious building.
What is the name of the cathedral? Where is it?

Unintelligle naration...but a lovely albeit shaky attempt
Ha...and a comment from a guy who can't spell...( me)
He doesn't look like Rollo in anyway. Just like Jesus Christ in the images.
I mean, if we’re being honest, Rollo did kinda look like Thor/Jesus anyways
I mean.. Rollo was caucasian and Jesus was black soo... The guy on the grave looks pretty caucasian to me
@@joramsim first of all caucasian is not that used any more, mostly in usa also you can say aryan as that is what norse people is. Jesus was probebly Brown not black similar to arabs and other samaritans and jews in those areas
@@joramsim Jesus was NOT black 😂 that’s literally been debunked so many times.

Traitor
You mean the traitor....gave up the gods for a fake god and power
Everybody commenting about the show realizes that, historically, Rollo and Ragnar were not brothers, and did not live at the same time, right?
Most people have no clue. I think it's cool that they took all these legendary vikings and threw them together in a show though.
Rollo was a lot more interesting. Aside from being fictional, Ragnar was pretty boring. In fact, the show had to take exploits of other characters and turn them into Ragnar's achievements. One is example is when Ragnar pretended to be dead to infiltrate Paris. Well, that was something Bjorn did to infiltrate Luna which he thought was Rome.
Yeah but Rollo is really traitor. He did fight his own people for greed
@@brohanfromrohan5771 Whether or not Ragnar was fictional is still a matter of debate. There's no definitive proof either way, on one hand there's very few sources outside the Icelandic sagas that speak of Ragnar, on the other hand you had a bunch of important figures from the viking era claiming to be sons of Ragnar. Whether he was real or not, we'll most likely never know.
@@ananthuironside8646 Ivar the Boneless lead for the Rus and attack through Norway. Nothing can be more dangerous from him:))
Where is it?
This not his tomb, it is called a « gisant » in french and 90% of the time these gisants are empty and are present in these places only for symbolic reasons and memory. This one is empty. This is not even the original one as this one is a copy of the gisant of a son of henry II Plantagenet, because previous Rollo gisant was destroyed during WWII 1944 bombings of the cathedral. It is believed Rollo body was still in the cathedral around 1063 but it is unsure, it’s also believed the tomb could have been moved to Fecamp by his grand son. To conclude, no one knows where the tomb is actually.
I never heard of gisant or their function before. Thank you for the information.
True!!
@@vickycrewfuller I think it's similar to what English speakers call an effigy.
