I'm Jhulian a professional musician and session guitar player, and just found out there's an actual anime called Bocchi the rock that tells the story of an introvert girl who plays guitar. It tells the story of many of us, introverts or musicians who found in anime and music some relief to daily life hardship.
We are here, after been dressed like a maid, overcoming HUGE anxiety issues, Bocchi is finally ready to perform at the school festival, but it's not gonna be tht easy right? She'll face some major problems guitarists have to face frequently, fortunately she has Kita, the girls and her own wit. I'm talking about my experience in embarassing situations and how hard is to play when you broke a string.

The main intro/outro riff for If I Could Be A Constellation (the second song) actually doesn't need the E string.
In fact, one of the guitarists behind the show did a guitar playthrough for the song. He even cuts the E string off and uses the same kind of can to play the slide solo.

I made the assumption based on how high the melody sounded (it was a bold statement, there was risk to be wrong😄), although they said the second (B) string wasn't able to be tuned, and that one was used 🤔.

@@Jhulian_R The guitarist who played the song in the official channel is the arranger of the song (Ritsuro Mitsui). He tweeted that he arranged the song to not use the 1st string after the solo, and in the worst case, he also tried to play the song without 2nd string. (The full version with the solo is released in the album version.)
The band is really written to be the ideal band in all roles. Ryo and Nijika providing rock solid support (and also direction and leadership), Bocchi a superstar guitarist in the making, and Kita already a rock star as the frontwoman.
You're right, that diversity of roles is what makes them work, you need this in for a real like teamwork!
You're right with the guitar being a Pacifica which was very impressive. Bocchi The Rock actually bumped up the sales of guitars in Japan which is always a win in my book and the Yamaha 611 specifically actually sold out for a period after the show ended. Yamaha actually made the exact model that appeared on the show as a limited special collaboration, a couple of which they raffled. Last time I checked the specific model isn't easy to acquire but I'm hoping to get one in the future.
They only made 2 of Bocchi's Pacifica so good luck to you

@@Jhulian_R There are videos of people modding the 611/311 to make it like Bocchi's. All black pickguard with p90.
A regular Pacifica 600 series isn't hard at all to convert into Bocchi's model. As long as it's already black it's just a matter of swapping the pickguard and pick-up cover, both of which are easy to do and pretty cheap.
It got me to learning bass again after my parents sold my bass like a decade ago lol i even picked up Kikuri's bass the Yamaha TRBX604
27:33 I think Bocchi actually did tune her 2nd or B string to cover her snapped 1st / E string, so it could make a higher pitch sound (tho a bit out of tune because the broken peg). But bocchi still can do the riff with no problem thanks to that. In official Aniplex youtube after this episode was airing, they uploaded a video of the actual guitarist who did the songs in the anime doing the guitar play of this song, along with the snapped E string and bottle neck solo, till the end riff. This anime just awesome , the best to describe will be "A love letter to musician" . So much small little details that touches all those who play music and wholesomeness for those who doesn't.

why Bocchi jumped? because she mimiced her mentor, which is the alcoholic bassist Hiroi (remember in ep 10, Hiroi's concert? there was a couple of frames briefly skim through she playing with the attendance by jumping
However, Bocchi was not in private venue, and the crowd was not in tacit accordance with her. But Bocchi seemed not being able to tell the difference of two circumstances, and that's why Ryo and Hiroi (and Manager Seika) laughed.
As for Season 2, or any form of sequel, fans may have to wait.
first, they already got dressup daring season 2 and some other projects at hand,
and secondly, BTR season 1 started almost 3 years ago (if this took them so long to reach this amazing quality, we could only expect similar length of labor to stay on par, and meet expectations.)

discovered this anime randomly and loved it so much! the attention to detail and love and passion they put in to the show was so good... emotional, funny and powerful season..

I like how they actually contextualize the harmonies as being sung by Ryo and you can see them animating sometimes to catch those lines! The attention to detail in this show, both in and out of playing music is so good
Bocchi's second guitar is a custom Yamaha PACIFICA611VFM, 2 were actually custom made for winners of a lucky draw lottery in Japan
How about her old guitar? I dont know much about guitar. And the bass of ryo and the contrabass

@@gilgameshlfx7006 sort of, it’s a late 1990s replica of that. (This jives with boccis dads age if he bought it secondhand in the early 2000s) The pick guard and pegs are slightly different. (I went on a deep dive when I wondered why a 15 year old girl is walking around town with a 15,000 dollar 1960s guitar, she isn’t. It’s about 4 grand
It's impressive that the last episode ends not with LIVE, but with opening the door and walking into the outside world.
In the intro to episode 1, Bocchi was alone in a dimly lit closet with the curtains closed.
Even in the end of episode 12, the school LIVE is still like a dream time, but The sun is shining in her room, she has band members and fans, and the job is her daily routine.

That was an interesting insight, at the end of the day it doesn't even matter how good/succesful you are at your thing (in this case music) but how at peace you are with yourself.

the name of 4th ED is the title of 1st episode and the last episode combined, which call “”A Rolling Boulder, Morning Descends Upon You“” ， write by bocchi the rock's writer's fav rock band" Asian Kung-Fu Generation" , and here are the name of band members -- Kensuke 'Kita', Masafumi 'Gotoh', Takahiro 'Yamada', Kiyoshi 'Ijichi'.
to add each ep is named after AKFG songs, along with the main girls birthdays being reassembled one of the AFKG counter part

the moment Bocchi grabbed the bottle and played a slide guitar solo absolutely made my day. I play guitar too and I love playing with a slide, but to see her pull off a Guthrie Govan and use the bottle as a slide when she broke her string was just beautiful writing. Love this anime!
The guitarist who arranged If I Became a Constellation plays it on RUclips with the original vocals and backing bass, drums and rhythm guitar on recording. He plays Bocchi's part, then at one point, he takes out a pair of wire clippers, cuts his E-string, grabs a glass saké cup and does the slide-guitar part, then plays the rest of the song with the E-string cut, all in one long take. So the part that you said was not possible actually was. You can find it by searching for this: 「星座になれたら」を弾いてみた by 三井律郎
Since the anime has become popular, I think there will be a season 2. The anime filmed only 1/3 of the manga, which is still being released.
We'll have to wait then!

Just to add, in the intro of the second song,Nijika grabs the cymbal with her hand to stop the sound, amazing detail.
Oh yeah that's a common drummer technique to mute and assure the cymbal isn't sounding when you don't want to, dope!

I think Bocchi still did tune the 2nd string up to cover the missing 1st string, but not perfectly because of the broken peg, so still out of tune for the solo, but good enough for just the riff.
The full version of the song they played in the audition, "Guitar, Loneliness and Blue Planet", makes a reference to Elixir strings.
That scene where Bocchi wore black tape on the ocean is a reference to the famous singer T.M.Revolution's music video "Hot Limit".
I didin't think I'd see that artist's name again, I only know him because of Rouroni Kenshin opening or ending he did (is one of my favorites!)

Episode 8 is what started the Bocchi hype, especially in Japan. A day
before this episode was aired the volume 5 of the manga was released and on it included a special chapter featuring Nijika & Seika's back story. Ilts a standalone chapter tie-in for episode 8. I guess the author anticipated that people would wonder why Nijika's
dream is very important to her and her sister. I suggest you read it as soon as possible while your impression of episode 8 is still fresh, read manga chapter 61

My favorite music anime is Sound! Euphonium. It is longer with 2 seasons and a Movie with the 3rd season in the making.

"Ikuyo" means "Let's go!" or "I will go" in Japanese. As mentioned in Episode 8, Ikuyo is certainly a female name that looks older than her age.
