I've raced against my mentor, Rod Heltzel, in his Super Cobra Jet several times in the past with my original 2018 Dodge Demon both stock and modded and I have never been able to get the better of him. At the Big Showdown 5 he brought out 2 of his Ford Mustang Super Cobra Jets for me to race against in both my new Dodge Demon 170 and my built drag car Dodge Challenger "Black Ghost" in a 1/4 mile drag race...

Dodge and the public both scammed by a successful swindle to make more cash on the sale a of a stock issue 426 Hemi Challenger that was ridden hard in daily driving and then hung up wet while in storage. A hat tip to the son who managed to embellish the story of dad's exploits to the point where he made a lot of extra cash for himself and family. A real finger wag should pointed at Dodge and all those who bought into it because they so wanted it to be a true story. For the buyer of that original car. POOR SOB stands as further proof that a "Fool and his money will soon be parted" is still in place.

good runs, but if i am not mistaken the cobra is a non street legal purpose built drag car with mods, the 170 is a street legal car that has drag features and promoted as a street/drag car. Honestly thiink comparing the runs is a bit harsh on the 170. I like dodge and the hemi. If they built one that is not street legal i am sure you would do MUCH better

The quickest street proven car on 275s is a prepped oe cast Predator/Coyote running 6.2s.
Mod for mod, there's ZERO oe cast HEMIs touching that.

Something tells me that in the race between the Black Ghost and the orange Cobra jet, that the Cobra jet let off a little bit so its nose could drop back to the ground. To me, this is what led to it losing the race.

Watch the video. The red car spun its tires till half track. If the track could have held the power the red car would have done the same thing as the other cobra jet. But was an awesome race.
It's probably the 8 speed vs the th400 or glide they're running in the ghost that makes that big difference too much shifting no matter how fast it is and the independent rear not really designed for drag racing

You know a genuine drag guy's staging, burnout, and launch when you see it compared to a short timer. . .also, they had a bit too much in it and the mod run, if they would dialed that tune back a bit, he wouldn't have had lift to get the front tires back on the ground. Meaning that CJ would have had lunch. Ghost got lucky.
