True. But I am talking about real names, places and dates. The battle of Eddington was a defining one, so was the battle of Hastings in 1066, they defined the future of England, where they really defeated the viking armies. Most Norse people did not fight, they just assimilated into Europe. By the time of the battle of Eddington many Norse kings had adopted the Christian faith and that usually meant asking (or forcing) all their subjects to conform and also adopt the new religion

      True.
However, I think Ubbe was everything that Ragnar initially strived to be.
Just to find land to flourish and live a good life in peace.
It's unfortunate Ragnar could not get to that point, but it's nice knowing that Ubbe will achieve what his father wanted to do himself.
      It all comes full circle.

Each son had a different aspect of Ragnar, Ubbe had is simple sense of just wanting an easy life on rich lands and was driven on the search for such a place. He is most like Ragnar is looks and personality, probably helps them both being played by Aussies to get such strong cast resemblance. Lagertha knew young adventure Ragnar before their split broke him and even she said to Ubbe how much he is like him so. All the bad and corruptible parts of Ragnar (lust for power, lust for exploration, addiction and mental health issues) all got passed down to the other sons and they lived out lives similar to him in those senses.

@@shakir2893 Yeeeah, Vikings left historical accuracy behind long ago, before the show even started airing the first season. Ragnar and Rollo, brothers? No. For one thing, they weren't even from the same country originally (Rollo was Norwegian, and Ragnar if he existed was supposedly Swedish or a Danish-born Swede). For another thing, they were at least half a century apart. Ragnar would have been too old to join Rollo's siege of Paris in 885, and in fact, Ragnar had been dead 20 years by then (again, if he ever existed) because the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle says that the Great Heathen Army arrived for revenge in 865.
And that's only one of the historical inaccuracies just in the first few episodes alone. Six seasons later, I've learned to view the show as pure fantasy, not historical fiction. If you want something closer to historical fiction, hit The Last Kingdom. It's not perfect, but it's way closer than Vikings. (Not that that's a high bar to jump.)

@@ms_scribbles Thanks for your comment. I have watched the Last Kingdom and will continue to watch, I believe they have a new season coming up in the near future. True regarding the Heathen army. That last battle was the battle of Eddington, I think in 878. I will also be watching Vikings Valhalla when it airs, set a hundred years after the Battle of Eddington, at the beginning of the 11th century, and since they included the character of William the Conqueror, that means that we will see the Battle Of Hastings, which was the final nail in the coffin of the Vikings. So hyped for this episode especially. So sick to watch your excitement over this guys.
The Floki reveal is so amazing plus the whole North America adventure. The cinematography, the transcendent beauty almost like a sort of otherworldly paradise (You can imagine what later European explorers must have felt like....this gives you that little taste right. A new world full of possibilities..... and yes of course the way Ube treats the Natives in this narrative is much more wholesome than many of the later explorers, but it still gives you that glimpse into what it would be like to not only find a brand new land but encounter a whole new set of people's) Beautifully written. The reveal too with the norse language being dropped in conversation and then starting the Vikings down this path of inquiry was such a neat way to do it.
I also love getting to see Hvitserk at his best, at peace with his past, having moved on from the guilt of Killing Lagertha, and fully emersing himself in primal combat. So cool.
And yeah Harald night have been a jealous, covetous piece of shit at times. He did horrific things too so many people, but he was also sort of sad and disillusioned at the end of his time in Kattegat. It was nice to see him go out in battle, visited in the end by the person he loved most, and was the most lost without in life.
Alfred is sick and I love seeing the way the battle between him and Ivar played out. The queen getting her hands dirty to save herself and her child was great because her ferocity and fortitude managed to prevail even though Ivar's plan was so genius.

This episode was so fucking good, easily one of the best episodes in the entire show. So much shit happened it’s crazy.
The battle with Ivar vs Alfred was so well shot, and the battle itself was so awesome. Hvitserk going berserker like always, but that’s not the best you’ve seen of him! He’s such a beast, my favourite son of Ragnar to watch even though he might not be the best. Ivar outsmarted Alfred, but props to Alfred. Not a great fighter, but he’s there to fight for his people and wife and was stabbed for it. Next episode will shock you with how things play it, it ends satisfyingly!
The Ubbe/Native American storyline is just fantastic, it’s one of my favourite storylines in the whole show. I knew Floki was returning but man the carvings and how it was all introduced was epic. Anyone would’ve caught on that “crazy man” meant Floki, I was just happy to see Gustaf and Floki again.
This is a big shoutout to my man Harald. His character done some terrible shit, but this season his character was incredibly written for me and Peter Franzén does not get the plaudits he deserves. One of the best actors in the show, and his death just completely captured his character, he died as a warrior which is all he wanted and was visited by his brother which is also all he wanted ever since killing him. What a G, my MVP of the season.
The Kattegat storyline played out significantly better than I anticipated. Ingrid was too smart for Erik, the Seer was right and as Gunnhild said, her winning signifies “the golden age of the Vikings is over”. It’s the least invested I’ve been in a storyline this season but it ends pretty well too.
Next episode is going to surprise you guys! Can’t wait for the reaction!

What about the first attack on the monastery in England at the beginning of the show, history recalls that the monks went to the shore to welcome them, only to be killed, robbed, and enslaved. Are you aware that Vikings were first and foremost slave traders? Do you know they practiced female infanticide? and finally .. are you aware that Ivar was already dead before that last battle? Seeing Haralds ending the person (we hated the most for so long) was actually the end of the last of the "Viking" nature.

The Mi’kmaq definitely did not need Floki’s expertise in constructing their boats or dwellings or anything else. The indigenous peoples were incredible engineers in their own right, perfectly adapted to their environment and with more understanding of the type of wood and other materials available.

Harald had to die to get a good word from Steve 😂 Don’t know man, really conflicted with how he died. Like, the way he went out, killing the guy who killed him, singing with his brother until his final breath, that was badass and fitting, and the fact his brother was happy to come and escort him to Valhalla was a happy ending for him. But the circumstances were indeed silly. For the Vikings, he’s probably the most important person on that field, even moreso than Ivar. Where are his bodyguards? Nobody thought to keep an eye on the King of Norway? He just got lost in the woods and got killed because he wasn’t looking? Don’t know, I’m really conflicted on that one.

As Vikings draws to a close, you guys really loved the show. Might i suggest the show: The Last Kingdom. I watched it while waiting for the rest of the shows of Vikings, it feels really like a Vikings spinoff and yet not a spinoff. The Last Kingdom is really, really similar to The Vikings. Please check it out. I think you will not be disappointed. It has Alfred king of Wessex and his dealings with Vikings that has settled in north part of the country.

The song Harald and his brother Halfdan sing is over a thousand years old. It is taken from a poem composed by the Icelandic warrior and skald Egill Skallagrímsson, who was a true viking of the 10th Century, and whose story is set down in one of the Icelandic sagas, Egil's Saga. While the lyrics have been somewhat modernized and set to a tune, they are still recognizable.

Ubbe being the one to find Floki was a good homage to back in season 4 I think it was when Floki was arrested by Bjorn and Helga helped break him free. Who was the one to find him hiding underwater? Ubbe!

Also, we found another tomb. A shield-maiden was buried there. Through bone analysis, a 3D image of her arm muscles was made.
They are comparable to present day Olympic female rowers...
So, they could indeed go on killing sprees, especially considering that the average height in the rest of Europe for men was about 160 cm due to general malnourishment, and Vikings towered at 170-175 cm, with our current average height being 182,3 cm.
Lastly, I really wish you guys would react to the 2-season series Rome.
