Okay, I’ve always scratched my head about the obsession around the kislux book totes and their practicality, but this one is adorable!! Congratulations
Wonderful full tour inside of this beautiful Surugaya shop there in Nagoya, Japan mate! Have you ever been to the one over in Tokyo before? Great seeing so many expensive & less expensive systems and games there! Thanks for sharing Adam & hope to see more Japanese gaming content soon!!
Hey mate! Thanks for checking in fast as always and glad you enjoyed the full tour of Surugaya in Nagoya! I have been to the Tokyo Surugaya and what I found interesting is that they are very different from each other. New videos every week from now on!!
@@TeamEmperor1 Yea, Surugaya really has good prices, yet still a very accessible store. Hope they can keep it this way and not go the same route as Super Potato.
Very very nice, being a video games enthusiast, going to Japan and visiting a video game store like this would be a must-do thing, especially because there aren't video game store chains like this, and especially for the cool stuff we never got in the west (Europe & US)!
Better late than never. Sorry finally had the time to catch up on RUclips. I thought the prices seemed fair and they had a good selection of retro games. I appreciate that you highlight some games and show some footage. I also agree that Contra Alien Wars is a must have and such great game!
No worries, man! I appreciate every single comment from you. Thanks 🙏 Yea, apart from the prices with are definitely better than many other stores, the selection is pretty big here. Awesome! 😃
Wonderfull video! I m french but i live in spain, i'm going to japan next year and your video are a great help for me !! Gameboy sfc, megadrive, gamecube and dreamcast!
I definitely enjoy collecting for the GameCube. It's certainly one of the hardest systems to collect games for given how rare they tend to be, but that's what makes it so much fun to collect for. The Wii is also really fun to collect for as well.
You are only the 2nd person to cover this store in the past month or so. I loved it without the new old stock it wasn't there when I went in July. Cheered me up a bit my tv just fried. It's my game room tv built in 2008 so it done well.
Oh really? Who was the first one? Yea things move really fast in the store, Ive noticed. There were a few games I wanted to buy one day later. And it was all gone by then. Sorry to hear about the TV!
@@RetroMoments scruffyrgb covered a part 1 recently with part 2 coming. I think retromoments was the original I saw. I was travelling to Nagoya from Tokyo on Shinkansen so it was a no brainier for me. RetroBreak is going tomorrow. I also visited 2 lucky cats in Nagoya they are like hardoffs. They are OK and there is 2 nice shops 2 doors either side of Super potato in Nagoya as well. One was on its shut day when I went though. There is a mandarake 1 min walk as well if you're down that way in Nagoya. I had a crazy week I spent 3500 usd. I love game hunting in japan but it's very expensive to get there since in from the UK. I'll probably return 2026 as I just went 2 years in a row.
Excellent. A 2024 edition from Adam on the best location to buy games. I'll be keeping this for reference for sure brother man. Thank you for sharing this with us. 8^) Anthony..
Great video. Thank you. I love these stores. I had the most fun and success game hunting in the Yokohama Sky Building Surugaya store last year. Akihabara was a bit of a let down, but still great. I will add the Nagoya, Osu store to my list. One store i really enjoyed was Mandai Shoten in Kawagoe. Massive!
Yea its super cool to see! Im so surprised that this many people want to watch my videos :D Kul att fortfarande se dig i kommentarerna. Minns att du var här på kanalen tidigt :D Tack!
Thanks for this comprehensive tour of that Surugaya. Really a great looking store with a nice selection and some decent prices here and there. My favorite system is the SNES, because I grew up with it and because of the huge selection of quality titles. However, PS1 and 2 are a bit more fun to collect for, because they also have a huge selection of great games and are usually quite affordable as well. Those collector's editions for Xenosaga 1 and 2 were in such great condition and not that expensive. Would have really loved those. Then there were a bunch of really expensive games in the showcase at the end that I'm still looking for, but they've become so pricy! 57,800 Yen for Eien no Filena is crazy, but at least the box is in pristine condition. Treasure of the Rudras is also supposed to be a really good RPG, but it's also gone up like crazy.
Thanks for watching and enjoying this video! SNES! Nice. Thats a favorite here too. I also really like PS1 as well, and I am finally getting a bit more into PS2. Yea, the market is really rising now in Japan. Especially since Japanese people now run around to stores and buy games to sell on eBay!
I actually sold about 90% (or more) of my game collection about 2/3 years ago. I kept a couple of games that meant a lot to me but I do still have a fairly sizeable Dreamcast collection as I loved that machine as a kid.
I will love to see a store like this, in America. I also feel, when it comes to these games that was displayed in his video, some of those games, truly need a HD remix, or a reboot. Some of those games, need a sequel, but some games, I'm glad there's no reboot.
Hi Adam, fellow Swede here. I'm travelling to Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka in about a week with my son. We are looking for Ones, GBA and Gamecube titles primarily. I'm curious if you would be able to share some most have stores to visit. We will be in Japan for over a week and retro game hunting ins our top priority :) so we have time to visit stores that are not the most central. Love your channel. Thank you for sharing your journey and passion.
Hej Jörgen! :D Awesome. Thank you for watching. Lots of new videos coming soon! And I love that you brought the hobby to your son as well. There are a few must-visit stores for sure. But since its your first time (I assume), you should visit this Surugaya in the middle of Nagoya. It's definitely one of the better ones that's central. As for Osaka, many stores are getting expensive there since there so much tourism. So I would suggest HARD OFF stores outside the city. And that goes for Tokyo as well, honestly. I was recently in a HARD OFF store close to Mt Takao and living life in there. Amazing prices and tax-free. Always look for that. Just some stores have it. Good luck!
15:42 thank you for the SHOUTOUT I have Xbox og and GBA nightmare before Christmas it’s very good I love the movie and the game ❤ you know I love the ps vita, sega cd and ds 😊… gameboy ok I can keep going lol love them all Adam❤ great video Adam see you next time 😊
I'm not informed about anything other than Nintendo, but the prices for Nintendo products are not bad at all considering the condition and they re-seal the games. In my country, Germany, a used new 3DS XL is 200-300€, 3DS Pokémon games are between 50-80€ each, Black 2 and White 2 120€ each used and the crown goes to HG SS with the Pokéwalker for 300€ each
I like GEO myself if I'm scoping Current Gen games used. I love that some of the stores are open 24 hours in Tokyo. Me & my friend grabbed a lot of Switch/PS4/PS5 games used on the cheap
I just got back from Japan, the best shop I visited was the Suragaya Flagship store in Shizuoka. Its right near the railway station about 4 mins walk. I had a JR rail pass so hopping around the country wasn't a big deal. I think its Y6000 from Tokyo station on the Shinkansen. As for Hucards, Takahashi Meijin s New Adventure Island vol 49, Galaga 88, Jackie Chan vol 36, Ninja Spirits, Rabio Lepus, Super Long Nose Goblin, Jigoku Meguri, KATOCHAN KENCHAN, Punkic cyborgs, Super Star Soldier, Gunhed. Those are the titles I have that I would recommend.
Seriously wish I was able to get to Nagoya on my past trip. Apart from being pretty chill in general for a big city, the game and figure hunting was super fun :) Still chasing a Neo Geo AES console to play some of the mad games I got on my last trip. Mother in Law found a late model curved trinitron CRT so all set to go really :)
Surugaya is great, but i can also really recommend Otakarasoko. There are 2 stores really close to each other at JR Obu station. Another great store would be Otakaraichibankan close to the Komakiyama Castle ruins. Great retro game selection in all of them. They are a bit like the Ojamakan stores in Osaka. I´m also a game collector living in Nagoya, if you need any other store recommendations or a game hunting buddy, you can hit me up :)
Yea, Ive been to a few OtakaraSoko stores. I really like them. I filmed a few of them as well you can see if you check out my other videos :) Oh that's awesome! Absolutely, that would be cool. Where in Nagoya do you live?
I collect Nintendo Switch games because the other modern consoles are disc based games, I prefer the physical games to be like "cartridges" as much as possible. But I don't want to collect or play outdated games on retro consoles, so that's why I chose to collect for Nintendo Switch -- it was the only modern console with games in "cartridge-like" format.
Nagoya seems to be a very good place for retro games! On my one trip to Japan I think Surugaya in the Tokyo IOOI building was my favourite shop for games. My favourite to collect for is super difficult to say. It’s usually the last console I found something good for :D It could be NES/Famicom, that’s the console I’m always trying to learn about every good action games for. And it’s a vast, fun library. Not buying many PAL games though, some were so badly adapted for 50Hz… though I preferred some with the slower music due to nostalgia! I’ve seen videos about Fatal Fury Wild Ambition by a devoted fan, but he thinks the downgraded PlayStation port is severely inferior to the original version for NeoGeo 64 arcade system. So keep that in mind when judging it.
It definitely is, Björn! Less tourists makes a huge difference, no doubt. Yea that Tokyo Surugaya is pretty good too sometimes. Especially for being in Tokyo. Gotcha :D All over the place like me. That’s cool! Famicom definitely got its own charm compared to other consoles with the colorful and differently shaped cartridges. I need to learn more about the Japanese side of the games too. Oh I see. Thanks for the heads up about Wild Ambitions. Let’s see if I can get my hands on the Hyper Neo Geo 64. Otherwise I have to turn to emulation on that one. The game seems cool, but the PS1 port is missing a lot things then…
I got a boxed Sakura Wars Dreamcast Controller and a few PC-FX games from this location this past January. Excited to return next month to check it out again! 32:00 And there is a loose one lol.
That store is absolutely amazing. Why don't we have anything like that here in the US it sucks, and everything is so stupid expensive. I've started buying consoles just to keep new in box for the future because i regret not buying an extra console for the future all the time so now im just buying 2 consoles, essp the handhelds.
Right!!? Yea, its a huge difference in prices compared to the US. But to be honest, the prices are really starting to rise here in Japan as well... And sounds like a wise idea to buy to consoles. Amazing feeling to see a brand new console!
Wow, do you plan on also going to some retro thrift stores in Osaka or Kyoto? The prices don’t seem that great compared to just a few years ago already!
11:10 funny how Dragon KNight & Graffiti became such an expensive title. Unplayable for many foreign players it used to be a 5000-2000 yen title max xD
Yea a lot has changed pricewise. I feel like the biggest leap was after the pandemic. Prices jumped high after that. And these 2 titles can be even more expensive at other places. I feel like Surugaya (at least the one in Nagoya) wins for the selection and prices now.
Hi because i'm going to japan in the 21 sept is it recommended to buy a switch like oled or v2 in there? And is it cheaper than in book off or hard off?
My personal life is the same. At the end of the day, this is just a job. I love what I do, and it's a great job. But it's like my alter ego. There's Chris Brown the singer. And there's Christopher Brown, the down-home Tappahannock boy that plays video games and basketball and hangs out. Chris Brown
Adam Chrono trigger DS only $20 usd you got pick me up a copy and one for you it has English 😊 that’s great price it’s so expensive on ebay canada well it’s $66.80 cad lol still prefer $30 cad 😉 do you like this store more then lucky cat?
Im going to Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto this september, any tips on where i can go to get some common stuff like loose Pokémon games, gba titles and rhytm games and not pay a kidney in akiba? I plan on visiting some hard offs in Osaka but i dont know any other places..
Hey haha! Yea that was a good price! Unfortunately, games move really fast from this store since the prices are so good, and its in the middle of the city!
I already know those game prices are gonna sky rocket here in America, so get them while you can legit, I started my collection a long time ago, I only really go for Japanese PS1 games, and they’re already getting up in price, still a lot cheaper but it’s gonna soon get pricy
AES är definitivt lättare att stöta på än MVS av någon anledning. Vet inte varför det är så. MVS hittas lättare på butiker som riktar in sig på lite mera dator-prylar som t.ex. BEEP!
What I noticed about collecting Switch games is that many Japanese Switch games do not have English language option -- it turns out that in many cases, it's because North American publishers like Limited Run Games actually negotiate to block/remove English language from the Japanese releases in Japan, to force English speaking players to buy their Limited Run releases of the same game -- at higher prices and also have to wait longer for the "English" version to be created. I wish the Japanese companies would not comply with these kinds of unethical licensing contract negotiations because I would gladly buy the Japanese released games (and I do) if they have English language support.
Oh really!? I didnt know that. Thanks for the information! I've heard that the Japanese market is so different that they "assume" Westerners will not like the Japanese games. And therefore wont even translate the games...
@@RetroMoments Well back in 80s and 90s it was not trivial to have English because they needed to hire someone that knew English (or just try their best to translate themselves which led to many funny translations), plus they didn't know if the effort would be worthwhile (i.e. profitable) to release games in foreign markets. But nowadays, I'm fairly confident that gamers worldwide just want every Japan game possible! And localizing games for multiple languages has become somewhat standard these days. So that's why I really dislike companies like Limited Run that want to monopolize English versions for themselves.
Okay, I’ve always scratched my head about the obsession around the kislux book totes and their practicality, but this one is adorable!! Congratulations

I recommend Surugaya Osaka nihonbashi main store(駿河屋 大阪日本橋本館). They have more stocks of retro games than Nagoya store.
Yes! Ive been there, and theres a video coming as well!
I agree that the stock is bigger, but prices seem better at the Nagoya one!
Uau ,Very Nice so much This Store...Ty👍🤝✌🙏....Muito Legal está Loja ,Bacana Demais 👍🤝✌🙏.... Obrigado+Arigato 🙏..
Thank you for watching! One of the best stores in Nagoya for sure! 👏
The best stores in Japan for video games are Hard off Hobby Off Book Off Traders Suragaya Thrift Stores and Super Potato but they are expensive
Also, that gun looked like the original to the nes zapper.
It was :O I didnt even realize it until I was looking at the video myself. Very cool!
21:30 bro you need to get that!!!!!
It's soo rare in my country and I believe in the USA too
Damn, youre right! I shouldve picked it up. I will look for the next time I go game hunting! Thanks!
Super video gamme japon cool top😊
Thank you for watching the video 😃👌
We have one in Niigata, I need to go ti it!
Oh nice! Definitely visit that one. It could be even better!
Adam/Retro Moments 4amLaundry and Mad Panic Gaming are the best and released videos and lives for the weekend get those games much love from NY USA
what is the price of Switch oled now in Japan? New and used? I couldn't see on the video.
Totally understandable. I was a little too fast there. Its about 200 USD used! Everything is used, but in perfect condition usually.
@@RetroMoments thanks, I am going to Japan next month and want to buy one
👍👍👍
😃👏
How much is a Neo Geo AES right now? Approximately?
There are 2 Neo Geo AES consoles at the beginning in the showcase where you can see its prices.
It is hard to find Ps2s in Japan because some folks never stopped using them.
Yea, PS2 consoles are more expensive here compared to Europe for example.
I'll be here in December, hoping to get a good deal on a 3DS LL :)
Awesome! Im sure you will. Have a fun trip! :)
holy shit the stock is very impressive
Thats one of the reasons why this is the best store :D ;)
Where my switch yuri game? Oshi no love lol I got remind u next time when u go 😊
Hi because i'm going to japan in the 21 sept is it recommended to buy a switch like oled or v2 in there? And is it cheaper than in book off or hard off?
Hey! Depends on condition, but this Surugaya definitely has cheaper Switches than many other stores. Good luck hunting!
Thanka for the reply also is it hard to find an xbox series s in surugaya? Because in my country is expensive as hell 🫠 @@RetroMoments
~150€ for a New 3DS XL. I'm actually surprised scalpers haven't just bought up the whole inventory.
I agree! That is a really good price for a NEW 3DS XL, no doubt! Im also surprised it's still there. Things always move quickly in here.
My personal life is the same. At the end of the day, this is just a job. I love what I do, and it's a great job. But it's like my alter ego. There's Chris Brown the singer. And there's Christopher Brown, the down-home Tappahannock boy that plays video games and basketball and hangs out.
Chris Brown
PS 1-3 is my best collection
Nice! I really like PS1, 2 and 3 as well 😃✌️
Do you know if you have a chance to find any guitar hero or rockband for any format selling in Japan?
I rarely seem them to be honest. Not sure why. In my home-country Sweden I see them all the time, crazy enough.
I’ll keep an eye out for em from now!
Nagoya!! Thx
Nagoya is the place to be!! Thanks for watching!
thats cool. dont think you really know whats gonna be happening soon though.
Hey Retro, where do we buy PAL version games?
Ive only seen PAL games in Super Potato. They sometimes show up in HARD OFF stores, but dont expect it…
@@RetroMoments Thanks mate
Adam Chrono trigger DS only $20 usd you got pick me up a copy and one for you it has English 😊 that’s great price it’s so expensive on ebay canada well it’s $66.80 cad lol still prefer $30 cad 😉 do you like this store more then lucky cat?
Im going to Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto this september, any tips on where i can go to get some common stuff like loose Pokémon games, gba titles and rhytm games and not pay a kidney in akiba? I plan on visiting some hard offs in Osaka but i dont know any other places..
im more interested with "anime theme" games on sale, because outside the Japan those kind of games was extremely rare games...
Yea I get what you mean. Im interested in those too, but I also want the game to be English-friendly.
1:56 do you know where is address and title that building?
Its litterally in the middle of the Osu Market. If you go there, you wont miss it. Look for the Lucky Cat statue :D
@@RetroMoments is there memory card PS1 and memory card PS2 in that store?
Hey man, grab me that Splatterhouse at 11:11 please. I will transfer the money 😂
I feel silly, I paid more for ninja spirit at friends in Akihabara too.
Hey haha! Yea that was a good price! Unfortunately, games move really fast from this store since the prices are so good, and its in the middle of the city!
And yea, Akihabara is always more expensive nowadays…
@@RetroMoments I was in that store in May. Missed it
Oh that’s a great game 😊
do these stores sell NTSC games or only JPN
NTSC and PAL games do show up from time to time!
Of course
Exactly!
Long live nation japan ,,,,
Oh yes!!
I already know those game prices are gonna sky rocket here in America, so get them while you can legit, I started my collection a long time ago, I only really go for Japanese PS1 games, and they’re already getting up in price, still a lot cheaper but it’s gonna soon get pricy
Very true! I started a few years ago too and pretty much focus on Japanese releases too… unless I can get a really good deal on a US/PAL game…
Crazy to think that silent hill 2 over there is $15, and in America its around $150
Right!? And do you know whats great… the Japanese version has English too!
@@RetroMoments I know! That’s why I just ordered it!
Plz tell the price of xbox 360
You mean the console? More coming later!
@@RetroMoments yeah
Moshi Moshi from Peru 🇵🇪🎉
Amazing! Hello Peru! Moshi Moshi :D
🎉🎉🎉
:D
Do you know if the games are just in japanese if you buy the old ones?
Or can i change the language at least into english?
Some game do have English, yes! It depends on the game…
You sound a bit like Serj from Beverly Hills Cop.
Haha really? I have to check him out!
Please put the addresses in description...I am in Nagoya now
Its in the middle of Osu! Can’t be missed! Look for the lucky cat 😃
I would grab a Super Famicom if I possibly could...
Great answer! Might be the best console ever!
@@RetroMoments Indeed it is. After all, that IS the SNES, just their foreign model.
How much are the ps vita systems?
Loose around 10-12,000 yen usually...
Thanks!

Fun fact: they sell Nintendo switches in family mart japan
Haha are you sure? Maybe a specific one?
@@RetroMomentsI think it was the animal crossing one or the switch lite idk my memory is bad
