Use BOTH for best results. Spray the cleaner, agitate, let it dwell, then come back over with the steam, then wipe. The steam will boost the cleaning power of the cleaner.
I use a heavy duty spray bottle and spray it with diesel.then I blow off the grease with compressed air finally I add dawn and brush then pressure washer
So here’s what I’ve done, I’ve sprayed engine degreaser on certain parts and come back and use the steamer to clean it off. Clean as a whistle. Sometimes it can be messy but it works a whole lot better. Anyway, good video
nice work.. yes, I would like to see a vid where someone uses the steam cleaner, AFTER spraying the part with degreaser... in fact, bugger it, I'm gonna go buy a cheap steamer to see for myself!
Yeah it was a beneficial video mate. I was curious about steam cleaning too - but I had my doubts about it's limits for something like a 20 year old vehicle with oil and grime caked everywhere. I think you confirmed that for me. What I really want to see, is spray a part with degreaser, and THEN hit it with the steamer.
Hello, I am a car and bike detailer for over 15 years and only use professional steam cleaners in combination with natural carbondesolvent with perfect results.
After the last few hours researching this topic, this is the only video worth anything. I have to do this to an MG. How do you keep your floors clean and what do you wear?
If you want to be super clean wear a Tyvek suit and put a painting plastic drop sheet down on the floor. Then you can use oil dry on the plastic and throw it all away.
Thanks for the video - My wife bought a McCulloch steamer and doing lots around the house, couch real clean and floors looking great. I'm pretty sure I'll be in big trouble once I get greasy with it... but think I'm going to try anyways..
Thank you thing is impressive for the size water get hot hot what im looking for auto oil an grease somethin that will blast it off think this will do the job with a lil time
Thanks for the video. While shopping around for a steam cleaner, I found a few that will run degreaser through the steamer. They are more expensive, but I think they will be worth it if used on a daily basis.
Like your Video!! I'm gonna drag my Steam Cleaner out tomorrow, (Weather permitting because Project Car is outside and we don't have room in our Garage because it is paying tribute to our Main Track Car Project lol). I was getting excited about this until it started raining 5 minutes ago, arghhhhhhhh.
Got some clean up to do on the underside of my Vette for some leaks of varying flavors. Think I'll take the spray path and pray to keep it clean and leak free from now on! Cheers bud!
Bathroom same results I use my steamer to clean homes I use the regular cleaning products then come behind them with the steamer to boost.the cleaning power
This does not bring back good memories of cleaning my 240sx engine bay pre LS1 swap. I've only used degreaser before, so interesting to see the steamer perspective. Like you mentioned, probably handy to have around for a variety of reasons. Also, shop reorganization looks great!
Great video, IMO it's a little underpowerd for that job. I would think about getting a steam pressure washer, granted they are like a couple thousand bucks.
This is EXACTLY the sort of greasy part I wanted to see done with a steamer. My car pretty much looks like that everywhere under the hood. Degreasing by hand and brush is slow going too.
grab and old top loader washing machine from the tip.. rip the top off, it will heat the water to 60c or 140f which should soften and release the grease / oil off parts and will agitate them.. A little degreaser or just laundry detergent, that way you put them in, walk away and keep working while they are washing.. just a thought.. you could retrofit a 40 gallon drum to the motor to give you a bigger play space.
That’s a cool idea... My only concern would be damaging the parts? I’ve still had the best luck with the sand blaster, but being able to set it and forget it would be great
@@BoostBrothersGarage you could dial it right down, like using a dimmer switch and dial in the oscillating goodness.. hell you could even use the drain water pump to put the solution through a basic sand trap filter to use the solution again and again. Or even line the drum with a softer materiel, or put some clamp idea in the middle to hold the parts so only moving component is the water around the part..
Damn i just saw one of these in a charity shop for cheap didnt buy it a week later im trying to clean my motorbike engine. whats to stop you getting a dilutable degreaser and putting it in the steamer getting the best of both worlds. For really thick grease i think the steamer is a good tool to have before hitting it with degreaser. most degreasers wont touch thick greasy dirt
My main setup is a Canon 80D with a 10-18mm and a Rose VideoMicro. I switch between a Manfroto tripod and a Joby Gorillapod. I’ve got GoPro’s, a DJI Spark, a Crane V2 gimbal and some sliders for the cinematography stuff
@@BoostBrothersGarage thankyou.. Could you please upload one more video on Chain cleaning..you also get more views from cycle lovers...I found Chain cleaning in Cycling get more speed..
why the tour of all of your car parts first?? I came here to learn how to steam clean an engine. The tour is not appreciated and a waste of time. Misleading title.
That was for our subscribers. Dropping in on one video is like seeing one episode of Breaking Bad and expecting to understand the entire plot haha. Anyway, good luck with your project!

Amuses himself while spraying the steamer up in the air .... I freak'n laughed out loud. 😂 Now they know I'm not working.

Yeah I with you, steam for 90% of things anything very oily / greasy - degrease and steam.
Yeah it was a beneficial video mate. I was curious about steam cleaning too - but I had my doubts about it's limits for something like a 20 year old vehicle with oil and grime caked everywhere. Yes!

I'm cleaning my bike engine and have a steamer- totally gonna get that out now thanks to you!
I love this video. Not a waste of time at all.
I'm ordering a steamer right... now... done!
I'm going to use purple power and steam it off!
Steamer starts at 3:15
Thanks for making this video. Was looking for exactly this type of comparison.

i'm thinking i might use the degreaser then come back and steam it. maybe safer to rinse it off with the steamer instead of powerwasher
the video wat im looking for, gonna get 1 for steamer.
Thanks mate n good luck

I’m sure it will do a great job in that situation!
great info video.... im looking for a cleaner way to do the underbody of my Falcon FPV GT the steamer with citrus cleaner would work a treat i think.
Well done! Iike your shop and your video.
The shop looks awesome, guys. Well done!
Thanks Rob!
This video has been beneficial, in deciding which method I would use. 👍 on the organised area.
Bathroom same results I use my steamer to clean homes I use the regular cleaning products then come behind them with the steamer to boost.the cleaning power
How is the stream pressure ?
This does not bring back good memories of cleaning my 240sx engine bay pre LS1 swap. I've only used degreaser before, so interesting to see the steamer perspective. Like you mentioned, probably handy to have around for a variety of reasons. Also, shop reorganization looks great!
Haha, it’s the worst
I have the same steam cleaner and I was disappointed also.
Thanks for the clip. Very good man.
Thanks!
What if you spray some of thet deagreaser and steam it later?
I’m getting one. Good video. Nice Porsche’s
Thanks! Enjoy it!
Great video, IMO it's a little underpowerd for that job. I would think about getting a steam pressure washer, granted they are like a couple thousand bucks.
Great video bro, I needed that information to clean my bike...💯
amazing garage
This is EXACTLY the sort of greasy part I wanted to see done with a steamer. My car pretty much looks like that everywhere under the hood. Degreasing by hand and brush is slow going too.
Such a messy and tedious job!

You guys have a killer garage
Thanks!!!
How about soak parts in decreased then use steam.
How about best of both worlds. Spray with engine degreaser, agitate, then hit it with the steam. Wicked clean!
Damn i just saw one of these in a charity shop for cheap didnt buy it a week later im trying to clean my motorbike engine. whats to stop you getting a dilutable degreaser and putting it in the steamer getting the best of both worlds. yep we want these supper prducts together so degreasing steam
Nice video. I think steam will help me with some areas not reachable by brush/degreaser.
Thanks! It’s not the end all be all but it’s nice to have in the arsenal!
2.50 a can! I wish you could still get em that cheap. Only 5 years later you're lucky to find em for $5.00
why not do both ? de greaser soak then steam it all off..
Definitely an option! I just thought this was a good experiment
I dig the steamer, looks to be way less chemical mess. Great job on the shop clean up.
Thanks! I think I’ll get a lot of use out of the steamer
use both or better steamer
nice video
Holy shit awesome garage...
Thanks, and thanks for subscribing!
Should we use only distilled water? Or does it not matter?
You’re supposed to in order to keep the insides of the steamer clean. I never do.
Boost Brothers Garage gotcha, thanks
Awesome video! What’s your camera and audio setup?

Dang! Explains the solid quality. Thanks for the reply, keep up the videos!
Thanks Ben! We have been collecting that stuff for some time now. It’s expensive but I like buying camera gear as much as car parts lol.
Go buy the cheap no odor oven cleaner at the dollar store. Spray what you want to clean wait ten min and steam it off. It will look new.
Combination of both👌
Try oven cleaner (foam). Or lamp oil. Much much easier.
Careful it works great but it will strip paint.
nIce shop and presentation
Thanks!
I dont want to degreaser smell coming inside the cab.
Steamer is also much better for the envioroment and less waste
I was thinking a light spray of degreaser gunk, wait, then steam would be tried as well.
I love the steamers however go to your dollar store and get oven cleaner way better then the degreaser .
It WAS beneficial. Thank you
Glad to hear it!
Which is good for cycle chain cleaning ?
I’ve used simple green quite a bit on Harley’s, works well
@@BoostBrothersGarage thankyou.. Could you please upload one more video on Chain cleaning..you also get more views from cycle lovers...I found Chain cleaning in Cycling get more speed..
You buy everything from amazon?? Dude try supporting your local shops and do your community a favor
Superclean with foam sprayer works much better than that gunk cleaner
I think it cleans good but itl take way too long to do a greasy engine bay or engine
Yeah, it wasn’t what I expected. I actually just started using brake clean and it is AWESOME
I bought a steamer just too clean my s54
I've steamed my lobsters and clams with it
Use the foam cleaner and steam it off with the steamer
Ended up using the foam cleaner and pressure washer for most of it. Anything I couldn’t fit in the blast cabinet that is.
That steamer is weak
That steamer is a crap consumer product. For any real solutions you need a $3000 unit at least
All talk and no go
steamer do the better job

Really don’t care about your shop, just get to what the title has advertised.
My subscribers care. If you don’t, move along. I don’t need your negativity.
There is this feature where you can fast forward and skip around, you should try it some time.
Almost 4 minutes of useless chatter before you start the video for why I clicked to watch. Get to the point.
