Honestly Jungkook has the most stable voice in BTS, but from just knowing his voice regularly, I can tell he was insanely nervous. He is extremely shy and I bet this was a huge challenge for him to sing alone. The original song is from BIGBANG, you should listen to one of their members Daesung’s performances. I think he has one of the strongest and most talented voices in kpop by far.
Lol jungkook wasn’t nervous doing this… it’s just as he assumed.. the things jungkook does with his voice are intentional…. The versatility that jungkook has with vocal techniques, adding different colors and textures to his voice to produce a different sound… is just purely bc he’s got some of the best control that I’ve ever heard: his falsetto is one of the strongest I’ve ever heard… and how strong he is all up and down his range is obscene lol. Most vocalists especially in K-pop just don’t match up to jungkook for a few reasons. There are exceptional vocalists in K-pop … but the heavy majority of them have a specific sound and style that they’re the best at… and they def become shaky and less controlled the farther away from their vocal strength and tone that they’re best at. Jk is also a rapper who has perfect pitch.. his harmonies and adlibs with anyone and anything is crazy… but no one can fit pretty much any style or sound and be exceptional at it other than jk. His voice is best raw no mic and live. His unorthodox way of teaching himself to sing really made him create his own path that’s not remotely close to the standard of how vocalists are trained… if that makes sense. This just makes him on another level for me… I’m not saying that nobody sings better than him in areas… but overall I just don’t hear anybody who can do what he does… but they’re are plenty of amazing vocalists lucky for us!!!! Such a treat every time !!

JiminieXiuminZuho compared to other vocalists they do, it’s not a bad thing tho, their styles work perfectly for what BTS is and the sound they have as a group. It started as and still is a rap centered group after all.
지오 I don’t agree I prefer BTS’s vocals to many (not all) other vocalists, I find must others just all have the same sound and style and voice,(mostly SM vocalist) while BTS’ voices are more unique and appealing to me as it seems less of a carbon copy. U don’t need a powerful voice to be good, u just need to know ur voice.

If what you said was true then people wouldn’t go to college to major in voice, (or any other instrument or fine arts for that matter) there’d be no standard and no technique to teach, but that’s not true. It doesn’t mean that people that haven’t gone to school can’t be talented or great artists, Susan Boyle is an example. Another example is Adele, but proving my point, Adale caused herself to develop nodes on her cords and needed a risky surgery because of bad technique. Although her style appealed to the taste of many, she still had problems because there’s a proper singing technique to use and she was not using it.
As to your comment on SM, their vocalists sound similar because they’re properly educated and polished, and also because they’re usually picked according to a specific vocal tone and register that will fit with the kind of music SM will make them sing. They usually pick tenors with a wide range that can belt, actually hold notes for longer than 3 seconds and know how to use their vibrato so it doesn’t sound all over the place.
Exo’s D.O. for example is a wild card between SM vocalists, but he complements his group perfectly. NCT’s Taeil has a very gentle and fine voice but he knows how to support it, and place it properly, that allows him to sound clear and smooth when he sings high notes it doesn’t sound strained.
I’m not an expert but I have taken classes in classical (opera) and contemporary singing for ten years. I even went to college for a semester studying voice. I sing in front of a crowd every weekend and know the effect not practicing properly and relying on style has on my body.
I’ve met people who sing different styles from hardcore rock to opera and guess what? The technique they acquired by majoring in Voice allows them to not fuck up their vocal cords. Style and “knowing your voice” is not enough if you want to do it as a career it will eventually catch up to you, physically I mean. Some idols can sing stylish and cool all they want but I can assure you SM vocalists will be the ones with healthy throats when they’re old.
So you can play the “preference” card all you want but it just doesn’t change facts.
@@teddyxox_6589 Literally all SM main vocals have a unique timbre. Like wake me up when you find someone with a voice similar to Chen, Jonghyun or Luna(She's gonna be really hard to find a similar one, one of the most freaking unique voices on Earth)
Sounding 'similar' as you stated doesn't matter if the vocalist have their own style. Every good vocalist out there has their own style. So no your opinion is kinda of weird and invalid

I also really relate to what you said about singing lightly and then starting to trust volume when singing. I have enjoyed singing for years, but I always sing lightly because of fear and embarrassment of people hearing me sing. When I am ever completely on my own and can sing a little more 'freely', if I start to hear any volume in my voice I instantly panic. You have definitely given my something to think about.

I'm actually the same way. I love to sing, and have actually competed in a talent competition, but unfortunately didn't make it far at all. I always get scared about my volume, though.

Mondzi JK isn't underappreciated, he's got lots of male and older fans in general esp. in Korea. However, it is annoying how some people just keep on commenting requests instead of appreciating the video. I know there are also kpop groups that are talented but this is JK's vocal reaction vid so I personally think it's disrespectful.
tbh the performance was nothing special and as a vocalist, he's pretty mediocre so there's nothing more to say, really.

I love your videos and how you broke down what Jungkook was doing. Jungkook has a really nice voice I think most people feel like he's more stylistic than technical but I think Jungkook can do both. I just think sometimes when he sings certain notes it doesn't sound as free and open but that could be just me. Btw I would love if you could react to Taeyang on fantastic duo for eyes, nose, lips!

Jungkook has one of the most amazing voices i have ever heard. he has so much control of his voice and i love listening to him sing since it's as if he's just talking to me using a very melodic voice. also, he makes his cover songs his own.

I love it when you analyzed the chords of the song, the type of vocal the singer is using, how you reacted to his vocal and also giving tips.
I personally like Jungkook’s vocal since it is so smooth and emotional. I don’t know but his voice just speaks emotion everytime he sings. Probably because of his breathiness? Or his vocal is just build up for that. Some say that he is a weak vocalist since he is barritone and sings lighter songs but he can actually pull off high notes but controlled. Not so loud and not so light. Just controlled high notes that is not screaming. I actually think that singers who do high notes without screaming are really great vocalist since they sounds wholesome and really beautiful to the ears. They are not loud and stuffy to listen to. That’s why I prefer his techniques in singing. I think he is expert with control.
If you can, maybe you can also analyze his collab stage performance with Charlie Puth? Singing “We don’t talk anymore”
And also his “All of my life” cover in which he sings without autotone, just singing in front of his phone.

This was the performance that showed S. Korea (and everyone else) that BTS were a vocal group too. Locals were surprised. If you are reading this (years later) it would be great if you could hear his recent solos and enjoy how he has grown as a singer such as "Stay Alive".

I’m so glad you liked his singing. To be honest, his honey and angelic-like voice and his technique is the thing that I love so much about his singing. Most of the singers are powerhouses and they only do that, it’s so refreshing and just it just feels so good to listen to his soft voice.

I'd love to see a reaction to Ryeowook; he has such a beautiful voice. 'The Little Prince' is his solo debut song, but he's also a part of Super Junior (I remember you reacted to a song by one of their subunits before) and he's been on King of Masked Singer too. He has one of the most distinctive voices in K-pop.

Sam, I am unable to find a video of you explaining what a person's Bridge is. You regularly mention it and would like to learn.
wonderwend1 Don’t quote me on this but I believe one’s “bridge” is the point in their vocal register where they have to switch from their chest voice to their head voice. There are notes you can sing in either your head or chest voice and those notes are in your “bridge” (cause it’s the range that bridges your chest and head voice).

When you said that he blends his chest and head voice I almost kissed the screen. Not a lot of people know how difficult it is to transition without it sounding awkward. I've trained at it for many years and I'm still struggling a bit, despite vocal choaching, I don't have the same natural talent as he does though. I really love it when people actually appreciate his hard work.
