The movie Above the Rim premiered on March 23rd, 1994. So, it was just a coincidence that Phife Dawg's lyrics happen to say "Above the rim". Electric Relaxation wasn't even a song featured on the movie soundtrack. But around that years, street ball competitions were a huge thing, and it was likely just a matter of the culture influencing Phife's lyrics, just as it did the filmmakers that made the movie Above the Rim.
