AintheUK Tool makes incredible music but can’t leave you as devastated as meshuggah. Then again, maybe Tool can help soothe you after getting destroyed
I saw them a few days after this show...Life changing experience! Seeing Nebulous live was absolutely incredible! It sounded as monstrous as you would expect.
I saw this show in Winston Salem NC. In 2002 I was 20 years old. I was completely sober, but I felt like I had taken acid by the time both sets were over. Best concert I've ever seen. Unreal
The drumming is particularly impressive on this track. The way that snare dances around the pulse. That snare placement makes the groove musical and fluid
The ungodly things I would have done to be at this show. Absolutely my 2 favorite bands until the day i die. cant wait for both meshuggah and tool to release new albums and tour again soon. the part where the solo ends and jen comes in just fuckin tears shit apart.
The only videos that you can find of this live is Rational Gaze, Nebulous, Soul Burn and this one. I would like to see Future Breed Machine that would kick ass :p
@snorpthus And that is one of the many reasons I Love TOOL, Danny Carey talked about them on a webcast and months later they brought them on tour most likely boosting their name. I was one of the lucky bastards that got to see this tour and they opend with ELASTIC!!!! it was SICK. I later got to joke about it with Marten Hagstrom. He was like "why the hell did we open with that?"
Tool should be opening for fucking Meshuggah. Not really, but just saying Meshuggah is so far beyond them currently, although I hope the new Tool record this year makes me eat my words. \m/
I think the setting of playing a tool gig plays a significant role. Compared to their usual more metal based audience, the whole psychedelic side of their art seems a little more appreciated or congruent if you will. That is my verdict.
The majority of this song is made up as it goes .. Thats how the song is written, more so, unwritten. So what you heard is in fact the song being played the way it should be, impromptu, on the spot, led by Thomas ... pretty cool huh? Betcha didnt know that. I like Meshuggah a little bit.
Chris Palevich My line of thought was that he was saying it was botched because it sounded different from the album, just like I'm thinking (likely incorrectly) that you believe I was belittling Meshuggah or something. I'm trying not to be an idiot and react defensively to it but I'm not advanced enough...
Yeah It's actually Fredrik who solos and yes he has never actually written a solo for Meshuggah. It's all improvisation. And they don't just make up the songs. They write most of their music using computers and it's very thought out.
Meshuggah and Tool at the same show, that would complete my whole god damn life
AintheUK it was fucking unreal!!! I was ready to leave after Meshiggah. That’s how fucking great they did!

17 years later they both played in the Chicago Open Air event

Did they play 3 songs?
Fuckin badasses
Gustav on Nothing?
Who'da knew!
He didn't do the studio version. That's played by Fredrik and Marten. He just played along for the live.
@@johannrajan6357 i always wondered since he never got credits, how do you know this?
Meshuggah are my favourite band
but i hate it when bands play their songs faster when they play them live
Someone always gotta moan about something 🙄

"this year" lol
We'll be lucky to get it this decade.
:(
@@ericforsyth consider yourself lucky
Guys it’s out now.
i think tool is just dissapointed with half their fans. call me crazy but thats wat maynard himself told me. ;)
@theSyringe hahaha best comment ;P
dude they're all acting really catatonic here, wonder if they took acid before this show xp

Somebody plz soundboard upgrade this shit
whos that bassist?
Gustaf Hielm, he only was a session player
Haha way to be, Marten, during the solo bwahahaha I love hearing Meshuggah botch something! They're human! Alright!
Seems to me they just make up the solos on the spot in concerts
