    Alot of the ochocos is much steeper than it looks from the hiway. Its little wonder that you dont pack out everything you find. By the way great video, finding the good stuff out there is ALOT of work

    • @itslattice4195
      @itslattice4195  11 месяцев назад

      Thanks! Yeah it is really deceiving. This spot is really steep at the bottom. Once you're up there a ways its not so bad, but for the first part of the hike, it's work! I use Google Earth before trips to get acquainted with the terrain. Always underestimate the steepness!

    I would be such a hot mess in a place like that. There is nothing like that where I live, not even close. I would be filling bags just to drag home with me. I would have to do some serious traveling to see anything close sadly. Granit and limestone is about it around here.

    • @itslattice4195
      @itslattice4195  8 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah it can be a tough decision, what to take and what to leave. So much to pick from. Might be some cool crystals and fossils associated with that granite and limestone!

    Is it legal to rockhound in National forest? I don't think so

    • @itslattice4195
      @itslattice4195  3 месяца назад

      @michaelburbank2276 perfectly legal. You're thinking of National Parks, which have a much stricter set of rules. Ochoco National Forest has a long and storied history of rockhounding, including many public dig sites that are Prineville Chamber of Commerce Claims.
