Guys if you've got a dog please do research before you cut their fur yourself, this is not the way to do it. This dog will get sunburned, some dogs you do not need to cut their hair. While others only need a trim in certain areas. Not every dog can just be shaved like this.

He’s small, black with a little white on his chest & he looks like a Cocker Spaniel sometimes but then he’s got Poodle hair if it’s not cut. I know nothing of dogs. Just found him in some trash bags in my backyard when we were cleaning out the garage about 10 years ago. I have no idea what kind of coat he has. I just know it’s thick! 🤣
@Vampwars Most double coated dogs have a thick course outer layer of fur and an inner layer that's softer. You can also feel the thickness of the coat. I've worked with a lot of groomers who do professional show grooming. And I just know most breeds and their coat needs.

Dogs coats are meant to help them regulate their body temp, when you shave them you make it difficult for them to do that and you also risk them getting sunburnt. Get a Deshed! Not a haircut! Shaving doesn’t reduce shedding, it only reduces the length of the hair that sheds. There’s literally no good reason to shave a Labrador.
I am only 17 and I already know never to shave a double coated dog unless there is a surgery that is happening my labs coat has never been the same since she had her surgery to fix a turn ligament

She can do what she wants. Sometimes dogs get sores in the summer bc of being too hot and MUST be shaved to make sure air surrounds the sores and healing is easier.

@Sahil Manocha I guess maybe you don't have some cooling factor inside but I would say don't take your dog for long walks when it's scorching. Is it cooler in the morning and evening before the sun comes up? That's when I'd walk them
