That little dog was sooo very good throughout that grooming session. I have two Havanese dogs Benny 4 and Bonnie 2. I have been grooming him since he was a baby but he is a shuffle bum. Bonnie is great similar to this lovely boy ❤

I am glad to hear that! About blades and blade guards... I am not sure (it was a long time ago) but I would say I used just blade number 5. The scissors are P&W Butterfly curved 8", Butterfly thinning scissors 6" and Geib Buttercut Black Pearl 7.5" 😊 I hope that is enough info for you 🌸

I learned early on that brushing my dog every day was a must. So I've kept her body cut short but ears and tail long cause even the hair on the legs etc.would get tangles and knots. I've been lucky to have had the same groomer for about 11 years and does an excellent job and because these dogs require regular grooming her grooming appointments are the same as mine every 4 week. "Penny"🐾 actually has an appointment tomorrow. The first of the year my groomer takes a calendar and schedules the whole year for Penny🐾 so we've only had to adjust the schedule a couple of times. I tell you this so that your subscribers reading the comments realize these dogs require and deserve proper care. Oh my God 😱I had a very allergic Havanese and cried my eyes out when they told me he had to be cute. It was one finger long but it was not what I wanted, for his health, he had to be bath every week it was better. Now I have 2 Havanese and they are like they has to be, long hair! They are so beautiful! Can't understand why people take a dog that they know they have to brush and than decide to cut it bald. This dog has such a beautiful hair and color! At least do a puppy look. And next time a short hair dog!
You have the most gentle approach and have mastered the art of grooming. By the way your hands; and long fingers are stunning. You should consider doing hand modelling on the side because they're just beautiful and perfectly groomed as well.
Im confused why you washed all the hair while it was still quite long just to cut most of it off. Im not askin to pick on you as I know nothing of the process. I just figured it was a lot more to dry. Could have saved you time...no? I dunno I'm just askin that's all. :)
You are right. It seems strange I have to admit it, but sometimes I am not aware of what direction the haircut will go especially when the hair is matted. I will never understand why people get a Havanese which coat is long by nature and then cut him/her naked so it looks like a Chinese crested dog? I have a Havanese, but his coat is long so that it covers his body and then he looks like a true Havanese.
I have to do it during flea and tick season to make it easier since lots of ticks here. Then winter it grows longer but then of course the snow sticks to it like little snow balls.
