I am age 71 and taking care of my 91 year old dad who was a preacher and diagnosed with Dementia. Dad’s spiritual is perfect, he prays over his food and sings and claps his hands when he hears a gospel song. He prays and says amen and hallelujah through out the day. Mentally he doesn’t know his family, friends, how to feed himself, how to dress himself, and etc. I know God is real everyday I am around my Dad because his spiritual shines through for the Lord Jesus Christ ! Amen !

So true! Raised Southern B., took the water at 9. At 18, got caught in a Riptide off the coast of Fort Lauderdale, when realized what was happening, called on Lord Jesus. All of a sudden knew what to do, got set in the right direction and swimming for my life. Now at 63, KNOW who got me back to that beach. Footprints in the sand. Love to Yall!!!

When I first got saved someone told me something that I never forgot. You have to be good to get to Heaven, but doing good doesn't get you there. It all comes down to accepting Jesus and living for HIM.
If faith without works is dead then works without Faith is dead also. This isn't my personal thoughts (which are debatable) its the Holy scripture.

Years ago, my sister in law and I talked about praying for family. Talked about souls being saved. So many things. One Sunday night after church, I got a phone call. It was my sister-in-law. She said, "Lynn, the LORD told me to call and tell you this. I got saved tonight. I really thought I was saved. But GOD showed me that I wasn't. " I stood quietly listening. I truly was speechless. But I finally found my voice, and told her I am so happy. When I got off the phone I was very quiet. It still affects me the same way. Many people pray, but are unsaved. Through GODS GRACE HE reaches back. ❤❤

Baptist, Pentecostal and other protestant denominations have Dedications where we publicly commit to raise our children in the fear and admonition of the Lord and believe that baptism comes after the person makes the choice to accept Jesus as their Lord and savior and in that case, baptism becomes the outward sign of the inward work (declaring to everyone they have been saved). We as human beings are not good. Only Jesus Christ and God the Father and the Holy Spirit are good. If it weren't for Christ's sacrifice on the cross through God the Father; we'd be eternally lost. ❤❤❤❤
I think everything anyone does counts....either in a positive or a negative way. That's why we live in a society of free will, just as each of us can make the choice to do good or bad toward our fellow man. Inherent goodness is not something we are born with. It's a daily learning process. 73 years on this earth has proven to me that each of us has that choice.
God gifted you with a child and you are so blessed.Who ever believes in him will have eternal life with him.

Amen Katie! There are some denominations out there that believe that you only have to be baptized to go to heaven. And the verse about the thief on the cross is what I always think of when I hear people say that. I was saved and baptized at the age of 13. When I ask the Lord to forgive me of my sins and I was truly sincere, He forgave me of my sins at that very moment. Being baptized is an outward sign of an inward change that the Lord makes in one’s life. I will add the friend of the girl in your Sunday school class to my prayer list also. I pray for you and Cory and those precious babies that you’re carrying every night. Don’t ever apologize for shedding tears because you are so thankful that the Lord chose to save you and offered it to the rest of the world too but,not everyone believes in Him. When you see Christians doing a good work of any kind for someone, it is because when you become a Christian you bare good fruit and you want to help others but good works alone or the water when you are Baptized will not save you. You cannot get to the Father without going through His Son and being saved by faith through grace. I am so glad that you talked about this today. Thank you so much for sharing. " From here on out, I will do good works ". He is in Heaven today.

It's a big question. But I'd ask him why he would choose not to be saved and baptized. Helping him thru whatever fear he holds there is important to understand. There is only One and He is the way.

I was raised catholic. I was raised knowing that Jesus died on the cross for my sins and the way to the Father is through the son.

His desire to do good and be kind is very positive. God is using this person to draw you and your Sunday school class into a meaningful conversation. This person is one step away from salvation.
Isiah 64;4 ...it tells us that all our righteousness are as filty rags....
Today I was remembering a good person who was loved by his family and friends but he was so unlucky in love. He married twice and both times the wives were sorry. He died of cancer in his 40s. As I was driving by his home, I couldn't help but remember him and talk about what a good man he was, then tears started running down my face, washing those bad thoughts away. I began to think about how he showed love to the unlovely and how strong his faith remained even while battling cancer. And I thought how love is the greatest gift of all! It is what we need, it is what we remember, it never fails, and it lasts forever.
I agree with you to a point Katie, but then I was asking as I listened “if we can do good deeds that come from God without accepting Jesus - and you must confess Jesus as your Lord and Savior to be saved as the Bible says which is our guide book to this life, how can we deviate and be saved by good works?” We were saved by grace not our good deeds so I believe that woman gave him the correct answer because we are saved by grace and confessing Jesus as Lord and Savior and that is Biblically the only way. I am a sinner and miss it every day and maybe I am right and maybe I am wrong but I love the Lord and He is always there for me. I just ask him to forgive me when I miss the mark. It counts in this realm, but we can never do enough works to Earn salvation. Only Christ's sacrifice on the cross can satisfy the requirements of the law for salvation. I agree with one of the comments that mentioned the fact that if that person is worried about salvation, then they need to answer the call to salvation while he can. The Word of God says," Call on the Lord while He is near." Also, it says that," God will not always strive with the heart of man."

John 3:16 days it all. My sister and i would discuss this all the time. Just imagine giving your only Son so that all of mankind could be saved. Then no one can come unto God but through me.
When she had her heart stop and she went into the light she was told to go back it was not her time yet. I know there is life after death because of what happened to her and she saw those which will pass before her. She would not tell me who was there but she passed 9 months after daddy died.
Now on a lighter note...our olfest sister passed 2. Times and they got her back. She did not go into the light she could not remember anything and she said she could not believe it so, i told her that we needed to get her to church....❤❤❤

Hi Katie, my name is Nancy Moore. I've watched you all and your Mom and Dad and family for quite some time now. I enjoy seeing you all and learning about your lives in Appalachia. Being a pastor's wife for the last 32 years, I will explain as best I can my perspective to your question and pondering.
If an unsaved person does something good and yes, it certainly can help others, but he or she remains unsaved, then the lady in your SS class is correct, it does not help that unsaved person. This may sound harsh, but reality often does. You cannot work or do good things and climb up a ladder closer to God. An example of this is the rich young ruler. He would not give up his pride and humble himself to follow God. He did good, but it did not help him. Sadly for him, of his own free will, he chose to walk away. So, even though it does help others if a lost person does good, it does not account for that person's righteousness. If that individual will get saved, it will no longer be an issue or a problem. Hope this helps you. Keep on looking up!
Amen sister exactly what I was thinking and you put it so well. The only way to be saved is through faith in the blood, it is not what we did but what He did. Doing good on this earth if you haven't trusted in Jesus is completely meaningless in the end. Sadly there are a lot of good people going to hell, tht is hard to think but it's the truth and the truth ain't always pretty. Trusting in the blood by faith is the only way to the Lord. 1 Corinthians 1-4. Romans 3:25, Eph 2:8-9 kjv. ❤

I truly believe our GOD is a very fair and balanced GOD. Anyone who does good is rewarded for that good. We see non believers succeed right? That's the reward. Our reward is in the kingdom.

The devil knows the scriptures better then most Christians. He knows it word for word and does everything he can to reverse it and pervert it and he has definitely succeeded in a lot of ways 😢

I just finished reading Luke. The criminal that professed his new realization and faith in the Lord was saved. The other was heckling and mocking. A beautiful reminder of God’s grace and gifts.

I pray for others (including y'all) but I struggle when it comes to myself if that makes sense. Clearly God just used you to speak to me. I think any good deed from anyone lost or saved counts. God uses who ever he wants to bring about something good.
Great answer. No one comes to the Father but by Me, If you are willing to ask God for help in sincerity He will give His help. Then you will be able to grow and as you do you will want to be in His will. That’s where we change. He gives us the ability to do so. It’s not easy but He gives us strength. I can do all things through Christ. I think we need to pray for wisdom and knowledge and for Him to keep us in His ways so that His will may be done. Prayers for all. As we all struggle especially in this day and age.
Sounds like he is searching for an understanding of his relationship with God. Unless he says no To God and knows what he is saying no to, then God will take him under his wing. ❤❤❤

If you believe in Jesus that he died for you and that you need him and you confess your sins then you are saved my friend! It just takes believing in him and that you need him and then trying your best to live for him!
