Drummers know...Abe is a legend!! His ghost notes and hi-hat work are top-notch. The song "Prince" is one his best examples. One of...if not the, most underrated drummers of all time
Abe has some of the best sounding snares my ears have personally heard, good to see this. Also love him and serge jamming tempest, and the digital bath snip. love it all
+Brannon McLeod Music i think the vented snare he said he was conflicted with was his 13 ply Orange County Drum and Percussion snare...it was really a popular snare. Chad Sexton used one along with many others. its super loud and sensitive
Damn that's a beautiful kit. Abe's custom snare is perfect for any rock/metal drummer. He's been drumming for over 30 years now, 20 years professionally. Can't go wrong.
I own this snare and it's one of the most uniquely sounding drums I have ever played. Very aggressive (it should come with a weapon license), yet warm and very dynamically sounding.. gotta watch your ghost notes though, they might come out sounding like regular hits. AND you'll easily be louder than your guitarist.. what more can you ask for :D
Man this guy is so good on the kit... Just comes up with all these out there beats and grooves... I feel like I can hear a jazz influence in his drum style as well
I love Abe so much. I wish I couldn't gotten my hands on one of these. I even see Danny Carey's snare pop up once in a while on Reverb, but never this one.
Pretty much a remake of his OCDP 6.5x14 Vented Snare he used on "Around the Fur" and "White Pony". This one is just made out of brass. I am loving my Orange County vented snare but this one would be a good one for the collection.
Craig Doll different overtones metal vs wood! And yeah that snare is killer, he still uses it in the studio I think... man uses a lot of different stuff in the studio I think though, in this video you can see 2 snares behind him. He also uses different cymbals (saw a Paiste china on a pic!).. Killer guy, always about the groove and tone of his kit
+Nikolai Forero F. Did you pay full price (I am seeing it online for a bit short of $1000 or did you find it cheaper anywhere? Congrats on the purchase! Have you been enjoying it?
+stoph311 Totally. Such a great snare drum. Great sound and really loud. Amazing for rimshots! Just get ready a good hardcase for it beacause its a really heavy snare.
Looks like this snare was discontinued, most major retailers that were carrying it no say "No Longer Available." Does anyone have any idea why? Drum was barely available for a year.
For those asking. This snare is still available. You just have to special order it through your local Tama dealer. The only thing is that the the wait is incredibly long. Close to a year I’m thinking. But I’m sure it’ll be worth it in the end.
Is it official info or you just guessing? Any source of this informations? I am asking because this was limited edition snare and production is over. Official Tama website has no info about this snare and possibility of ordering one. Even biggest drums shops removed this snare from their catalogues. The only thing your local dealer can do is check if it is still available somewhere in the Tama warehouse or store. But there is no any left! Right now (24/10/2020) there is one on Reverb and one on Ebay. Both available from private sellers.
Just recently someone from my local drum shop ordered one and it took a year. I asked the same thing and they said it was a special order. So you could ask at your local store and see what they say. Otherwise email Tama and get the info you need.
look at it like a 1 up 2 down set up, but then the 10 is there tucked in under the ride just for whenever he wants it, once you get used to it, rolling them to the left feels just as natrual, but at the same time it still holds that same feel as a 1 up 2 down set up
He changes his setup pretty regularly. Even the types of drums he uses changes. like for a while he started using shallow toms and then recently went back to the more common 10x8 12x9 rack toms. In the early 90's, he would set them up much like he does in this video. I really think it just depends on how he feels at the time. I also like to use different setups for fun sometimes.
It surprises me, that there are so many drummers, that do not know how to pronounce Tama. I used to be a dealer, and spoke directly to company officials. They always said Tama (as in llama). I still hear seasoned drummers saying tamma and tayma. By now, you would think they would know. Abe here, obviously pronounces it correctly.
I just got my hands on one of these. The price has gone up and I can't get any info on these, Tama has taken any trace of it off their website. I don't get it. :/
I am a AC146 owner. I really would like to learn the tensions of ABE to keep the tone. Cause i am always high or low. Literally couldnt find the exact tone :D Also if you the same for the StarClassic Bubinga, i'll again be really happy ..
Try different heads, different wires, different room acoustic. Remember that Abe sound is created mostly in the studio (mixing, EQ, compression, effects). Keep in mind that this video is also EQed and compressed as well
Digital baths drum beat is just so damn awesome. Iconic.
Fuck yes. I got to see them live in Pasadena, and when they performed that my brother and i went batshit. Lol
About time this dude had a signature snare.
Slick groove. Tons of ghost notes, and lots of rhythm. Abe's always been an underrated drummer. High time the dude had a signature model of some kind.
Abe is a great drummer. Unique style and sound. Very underrated.
100% agree, starting to respect him a ton more now that I started listening to Deftones
Not by me at all....always have loved him!!!!
Met this dude 18yrs ago, working security at a club. They we're with Cypress. Really cool dude.
Drummers know...Abe is a legend!! His ghost notes and hi-hat work are top-notch. The song "Prince" is one his best examples. One of...if not the, most underrated drummers of all time

I like how they made the baby blue drums again just for him.
Great sounding snare. Deftones have been a huge influence on my drumming.

Love thta fatness!!
"It's the best, I mean look at it". Oh god, so in love with this man and his work, his attitude, his talent
Damn that's a beautiful kit. Abe's custom snare is perfect for any rock/metal drummer. He's been drumming for over 30 years now, 20 years professionally. Can't go wrong.
3:03 Digital Bath. That's my favorite tune by them.
I always loved the high pitched snares he played, perfect for dense downtuned riffs, cuts through the mix soooo good
Song they do with Sergio is called "Tempest" off Koi No Yokan. In case you did not know.
Thanks.
One of my favorite Deftones songs
That sounds as my best memories.... One of the greatest rock drummers of all time. Blessings Abe!
i love how he starts playing Digital Bath at the last groove, Abes the fucking man
Sacramento Kings hat on.
Representing! Thanks Abe.

I'm definitely exited for the U.S. Release!
It's sounds so lovely! Definitely going to buy this one.
Thanks to Abe for being such an inspirational drummer through the years!
Awesom always loved his groove beats and had such a unique sound of his own. Huge fan of his drumming
Nice warm sound coming out of that snare. Always enjoy listening to Abe play.
That powder blue tama set is bliss.
Chad Sexton, David Silveria and Abe my 90's drummers influences
Sexton is head and shoulders above those other two but I agree style wise
Man this guy is so good on the kit... Just comes up with all these out there beats and grooves... I feel like I can hear a jazz influence in his drum style as well
My favourite drummer and inspiration. Una maquina.
Finally with the sound of that snare you feel the massive influence of the great Band Helmet.
I´m a big fan of both bands and their great drummers!
love his snare sound omg
Baby blue set is the coolest looking kit Iv ever seen, The White Pony set..
incrível essa afinação para digital bath!, abe, você é um ícone da batera altamente respeitável no Brail, inspiração pra muitos bateristas....
That's a incredible snare
At last you got what you deserve thank you Tama to give us this snare drum
Goodness me, what a gorgeous kit!
I love Abe so much. I wish I couldn't gotten my hands on one of these. I even see Danny Carey's snare pop up once in a while on Reverb, but never this one.
Ghost notes FTW
I'm so sad that this snare is discontinued
gotta love abe man
So lucky to have seen this dude live. ❤️❤️
We love you Abe.
Abe adds such groove to the DT , massivley underrated drummer
damn this thing sounds great!
This guy's pretty good!! He should be in a band.👍
Abe hits the drums perfectly.
"I Love Ghost notes" we can notice that, Mr. Cunningham
An amazing drummer
Awesome sounding...

You could get some really cool tonal options mic-ing up a vent hole and blending it with top and snare side mic🤙🏻
Great sound
Saw them a couple years ago in Frankfurt. His snare was a highlight. Shit sounded like thunder cutting through the mix.
We need a video with his drumming only.
Hermoso sonido toda la bata. Gran baterista, muy influyente.
Smooth hard hitting cat.
I came to check out the drums but man that bass 💕💓
been waiting on you to join in the drumeo page bro.
Wn que buen batero este loco wn, saludos desde Chile de un Batero por acá... ImI
damn, I really wish this snare was still available.
It is!
YES! Finally!!!!! :)
i WANT this snare
that time at the end is fucking crazy
Finally!
Beautiful sounding snare! I'm just really between either this or the Mapex Matt Halpern Wraith Snare. Anyone have a particular favorite?
+Andrew Konkey this...
tama starclassic maple made in japan precious
I feel like Abe’s uncle nickname should be: Tio Cold Pack because he is so freaking cool. He always looks like he was just chilling in his garage.
just one question. where can I buy this snare?
i dont understand why everyone thinks hes under rated. any avid drummer definately knows about Abe fucking Cunningham!
Just ordered this monstrous snare! :D

about fucking time !!!!!!!!
This thing sounds like a lightning bolt live! Totally killer.
Looks like this snare was discontinued, most major retailers that were carrying it no say "No Longer Available." Does anyone have any idea why? Drum was barely available for a year.
It is still available (as brand new) in few music shops around the world.
After the pierced cymbals, the pierced snare drums !!! LOL

@@officialedge6163 I already have one! 6 months ago I bought new one. it was last one available in my country.
Such groove
Digital BAth groove is a killer
reppin those Sac Kings
Kings baby you see it
Anyone still using this amazing snare in 2022??
Yes.
I have the exact same snare except it’s not custom and I feel awesome every time I play songs knowing that I’m I playing almost the same snare as Abe
So it is not "exact, same snare", don't you think? haha
@@betulaobscura I guess, I’m just trying to enjoy my snare knowing it’s at least similar, party pooper.
@@sleepmanual3718 Enjoy!
@@sleepmanual3718 Well, it isn't, so you shouldn't!
Stolen valor is nothing to aspire after. Just kidding, that's cool and I'm envious!
@@Glurbschnurb haha yeah, I wasn’t trying to brag. I just was happy lol.
When did Abe reverse his rack toms? Interesting configuration.

SOAB!
Why cant i find abe's snare on the TAMA website?
Strange, isn't it?

I say ta-ma. (Rhymes with pam uh)
Todd Daniel No it’s Tah-Ma. Listen to how Abe pronounces it. He says it correctly.
The best snare he had was the one he used on White Pony. It sounded gorgeous
Pretty sure that was a tama 14x4 bell brass
Where this snare goes?
Upstroke on the splash ftw
Damn
I just got my hands on one of these. The price has gone up and I can't get any info on these, Tama has taken any trace of it off their website. I don't get it. :/
Eddie Goebel how much do u like it? Does it tune down well?
He's hilarious
Anyone know how to tune a snare to sound similar to this?
Tune it high!
@@betulaobscura I've since learned this. Gotta crank the bottom head way up 😆
@@drmezzer Yes!
I was watching the bass player using all downpicks and my arm immediately started hurting just watching it.
drumming the track Digital Bath in the intro? Then Tempest 🙂
Don’t think so

pretty sik!
i wish he still used his Tama Bell Brass
He still use it.
Abe is like the Bonham of NU metal
As a drummer, this gets my soul hard
why has this snare drum completely disappeared now, cant buy it anywhere.
It is still available brand new here and there.
Is that 10 or 12 lug I cant tell
