An even better way to get rid of slimes is teleporting them all in the void, so they disappear immediately. You can use a repeating always active command block in the spawn chunks with the command /tp @e[type=slime] ~ -100 ~

One of the methods I use pre-cave update is _kinda_ cheaty, but Essentially in the superflat options I just added an extra 6 to the dirt levels, that way there was now 62 layers of dirt instead of just two, giving you nearly 20 blocks of space between y-level 40 and the surface. I use this method for pretty much all of the superflat worlds I've made and It works extremely well. The only real downside that I can think of is that you don't have as much space between the surface and the height limit, But I don't build super large structures so its never been a problem for me.

The Trench Method can still work with a few changes. If you name tag a slime it won’t despawn but every slime that splits from a big one when you kill it keep the name. So all you’d need to do is name tag 5 big slimes and fully reduce them into small slimes and you’d be past the mob cap and not have to worry about despawning. The only hard part would be getting the master librarian for the name tags, but I’m sure there’s some stupid hack or method that lets you do it in 10 minutes.

    *Method 4*
When creating your world go into customization under super flat setting then presets and in the text box mess around with the block layers to change it so there are more layers. What i did is made it bedrock, 30 stone, 15 dirt, 1 grass block. That way once the world generates the default surface layer is above Y40 and no slimes spawn because slimes only spawn below Y40. Ta Da. *note if you still want to kill some slimes like if you need slimeballs or etc you still can just dig down below Y40 and dig out a big area and slimes should spawn in that area.

Honestly I'd rather having to remove water later, than have to use shovels to make path blocks, plus water also stops other mobs so making things is easier during the night.

how did you get leaves in a superflat world?

When I played superflat survival with some friends we pathed an enormous area with shovels to stop their spawning, and then a skeleton got in and was zooming around at insane speed because they do that (or at least used to) on path blocks

even small slimes can't spawn on 1x1's, the spawning for slimes first checks for space for a full sized slime and then decides the size randomly, so a single spawnable block here and there actually has zero chance to spawn any sized slime, not just a low chance.

Could also place string to prevent spawns

very cool video! but its easier to just type /gamerule domobspawning false and then /kill@e[type=slime]

alternative if you use subtitles/don't have care about hostiles disable hostile mob sounds which also stops the other mob sounds if you make a mobfarm

you should absolutely keep one flying trunk in case you need slime balls then you'd have to undo it so you probably want to keep at least one far away from your base

You can also, on creation, add 40 layers of dirt or stone.

Removing the dirt down to bedrock works too, mobs can't spawn on bedrock

Actually the trench method is the best. Mobs that are in the spawn chunks can never despawn because the spawn chunks are always loaded

  • @Folk_Rocket

you can also just build a hostile mob cap filler, it looks a lot better imo becuz u can just build it in the spawn chunks and not worry about ugly path/water everywhere

Another way to do it is just make a custom super flat world that is above Y level 40 to begin with. Though it may not be “natural” super flat. I feel like it’ll be close enough to normal super flat worlds to work anyways.
