Though in the USA they pay less in taxes, when they add in the cost of healthcare it balloons to 60%. But each state also imposes its own taxes as well as do their HOAs. They are also paid at higher rates while Canada under both parties allowed the minimum wage to stagnate for over a decade.

Property tax on our home, income tax, vehicle registration (tax), gasoline tax, grocery tax, liquor tax, cigarette tax, marriage license fee (tax), fishing license fee (tax) and so on. I am shocked our Whitehouse resident has not attempted to apply the carbon tax. The only way I see to avoid it is to kick him out and vote President Trump back in. They're trying everything they have to prevent that, but Americans are waking up just like Canadians are!

The thing is about the carbon tax is that it penalizes people who do not even have a vehicle. I use public transit, walk and bike everywhere. I don't even rent a car since I live in a city with a metro. My food however has to be shipped and that's not really my fault or anything I can control. Lumber to build housing has to be shipped so that is driving our housing prices. Our supplies like toothpaste, toothbrushes....stuff I need to exist if I want to have good hygiene so I can go to a job to pay taxes...get charged a carbon tax.

The world’s former loveliest Environment Minister, Catherine McKenna, was fond of quoting Nobel economics laureate William Nordhaus, but never mentioned that he wanted to create a Climate Club of countries with compatible carbon taxes. They would have penalty tariffs against countries not part of the club to encourage them to join. This is often misconstrued as an effort to tax each of their products according to their carbon footprint but it was nothing of the kind. Nordhaus wanted to tax everything imported from these countries at a uniform penalty rate to get them to join the Climate Club. The Liberals are fond of saying that the Conservatives have no plan to fight climate change, by which they mean global warming, but they have no plan. They want to reduce our GHG emissions but when it comes to other countries, China, India, and so forth, they run on Hopium. In fact, this is perhaps by design and what we are sold as fighting climate change is essentially a sneaky plan to redistribute income from richer countries, including Canada, to poorer countries. It is perhaps not coincidental that Catherine McKenna came to her job as Environment Minister from a background in international development.
